Call me a boring old sod, but the only Bohemian Rhapsody I like is the one sung by Freddie. As far as other versions go, however, this is pretty decent.
Yet another cover of BoRhap. I can't even get through them anymore - all I can do is skim, because the song is so ubiquitous, and most can't come remotely close to matching the original. Only Rick Miller and Weird Al have created something interesting enough to keep my interest for six minutes.
So, Pentatonix.
Clearly their voices blend well, but not one of the lead singers has a distinctive voice. It actually takes three of them to distribute all the lead parts. It's not because they simply wanted to give each one of them a line to sing, like the Spice Girls - it's because the different timbres needed a different voice. It really shows how versatile Mercury was.
They possess the requisite technical talent, the rendition is respectful in is faithfulness to the original, but the result (as always with them) is absolutely STERILE. Who needs STERILE?
