Without mentioning "weird for weird' s sake" (Stuff like MERZBOW, SECRET CHIEFS, early FRANK ZAPPA album LUMPY GRAVY) I'd say the soundtrack to BOMBAY BOYS. My brother's friend who was born into money got to take a trip around the world out of high school. He brought back that on cassette. I found it hilarious at times and frighteningly bad at others. Then there's a couple of cues from the 1984 SOUNDTRACK by EURYTHMICS that always resonate in an eerie way for me. *(another reason I love that band) Then of course there's the song FISH HEADS by I forget the band name. |

British industrial techno music, I wonder which drug they're on...? Sounds like white noise with a strange beat. |

Pat Metheny's "Zero Tolerance For Silence" album! I was getting into jazz fusion guitar back in the mid-90s....Mahavishnu Orchestra and such. I don't remember why exactly I bought this cd, maybe I read a favorable review of it somewhere. Certainly, it was NOT what I was expecting. The description on wikipedia just about nails it: "frantic, overdriven, intricately textured guitar soloing with occasionally distinguishable blues-like melodies."...with no accompaniment, either.... link Listening to this again, I kinda find myself liking it.....still, the sort of thing I'd only listen to once in a great while! :D |

I won't open up a can of free jazz on you (having said that: Sun Ra), but there's plenty of weirness there. This was weird and fun though: link The video is pretty great, too! |

There are two songs that i'll consider the weirdest i've ever heard. The 1st song is the disco version of "We Are One" from the Caligula soundtrack. I only heard a snippet of that song from a Cinema Snob episode, and it sounded good, so I decided to search the entire song. I like the music, it's really groovy and all. The lyrics? it's short, but you'll be saying WTF at the end. You'll know it when you hear the lyrics: link The 2nd one will be "Friends of Mine" by The Guess Who. My dad introduced this to me few months ago, and I should say this is the darkest, most psychedelic track i've ever heard, even outdoing "The End" by The Doors. I would describe it as a seedy fairground ride. link |

This song is fairly weird too - 'Cool in the Pool' by Holger Czukay. The video for it only serves to make it weirder... link |

brunogorski wrote: Do you guys REALLY consider all these songs /\ weird?! link Welcome to Brazil.Nice! Another stab at "pussy power" from Brazil. (At least I think it is. .. Spanish is a bit removed from Brazil 's dialect though they share verbs and nouns almost similar) Funny video. Thanks for sharing that. Another slice of hedonism. Ah. .... the athletes who are gonna come back from the Brazilian games with VD.... they should've based a James Bond film on this premise. (Back before Dalton and err.. that dude from live and let die. ..Sorry. .. my favorite has always been ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE) ... that was one less fanciful outing although it was still cartoonish. The song is hardly strange. It's dance music and almost completely repetitive. But THIS forum should be awesome for what it can present to give air to the realm of world music. Thanks for sharing that. |

Chief Mouse wrote: Bizarre song and video as well - link .Ah drugs. . Drugs. What would music be without them? Until the day they can define sensory satisfaction from droning notes and simulated auditory ecstasy (without much contrivance than just fooling the reptilian brain beneath the frontal cortex etc) then things like this will always present themselves to a liberal public. On the right kind of drugs this song could be euphoric. I'd likely impregnate some majestic woman right then and there in the club (*eschewing cultural values often leads to a backlash, if you're porking some hot womanat a club, chances are she could be totally royalty. The lesson is. .. look for a congenital overbite and don't wear a Jimmy. ..... KA- CHING! ;-);-);-) I can't imagine anyone else thinking this is incredible. ..but god bless the guy. ... that was interesting. Any chance you could get the translated words? I'm curious. Still though. .. MUSICALLY ... It's just trance dance crap. Maybe the direction QUEEN would have taken in the 90's under a healthy Mercury. |

link This was my sole contribution to bizarre. (*avoiding Mr bungle, secret chiefs, Frank Zappa and "noise music" - Merzbow.) It's of the same like. Dance music (dated from the 80-90's hip hop new Jack swing) But it was frighteningly funny to me growing up. That cover of ITS ONLY ROCK and ROLL from Queen's Budapest show might be valid as well. I love this topic. It can get many other styles of music presented to the public (albeit just us 100 or so people who prowl the PERSONAL threads) this is awesome. Thank you guys for posting. |

link Supermax with Love machine, not really bad or weird but a bit ahead of it's time and not... actually I'am split over that. it's Disco with a touch of Heroin. Singing starts around 01.35 min but I suggest you to listen to the whole thing to feel the Up-lift concept :) |
