Muse's new album is brilliant. Didn't care much for their older stuff though. The Darkness have openly declared Queen as a massive influence. |

Yeah, obviously The Darkness....the song Mighty Wings from their latest album has a definite Flash-esque sound to it, for one! And someone mentioned Extreme too...some of the songs on their third album, like Seven Sundays.... I'm not sure if anyone here would know what I am talking about, but there was a band called Belly that was around in the 90s....they had a song called Dusted, where I always thought part of the riff sounded a LOT like Football Fight....maybe that was just coincidental! |
Doga 14.07.2015 09:38 |
Is not what anybody would expect, but i say the japanese band Mono, they are an instrumental post-rock band with 15 min. songs, but somehow, they remind me the guitar orchestrations of the doctor. Listen: link |

Just listen Defector from the last Muse album. It has some vocal harmonies and guitar solos very Queen alike. Muse is a really great band. |

Everyone has their creative peak, and I'd say this was theirs. But their last two records have been excellent as well. As for other bands influenced by Queen - everyone should check out Jellyfish. They only managed to put out two records, but most people didn't hear them. They were making Beatles/Queen/Beach Boys influenced music during the grunge era - the timing couldn't have been worse. link They're a musician's wet dream - still very much talked about to this day. Foxy Shazam, especially their Church Of Rock & Roll album, produced by Justin Hawkins Muse are a great band, btw. To call them a fifth rate tribute band is laughable and does nothing for someone's credibility |

This morning i was just noticing that "Bat Out Of Hell" by Meat Loaf has a quite strong Queen-feel to it...especially the instrumental parts, which I found to be kinda Liar-esque. (The vocals not so much, Freddie would have made the single parts shorter and less repetitive) I'd love to hear your opinion about this because I've been thinking about it for a while. Low Quality YT: link Much better on Spotify: link PS: Is there any section here for presentations? Or can I just start posting around? :D |

I hate meatloaf. Both kinds. Horrible musical *(theater) kind of crap. Pretty disgusting. Revolting. Nevermind the questionable origin of the meat. Music for old ladies and old men trying to lay said old ladies.Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Egh meatloaf. Anyways not a huge MUSE fan but beyond the George Michael/ Queen similarities in MADNESS it actually soundedinfirst listen close to ROGER'S "KILLING TIME" and the obvious....IWTBF Ya gotta notice that they were going for a SABBATH sound early on with Son and Daughter. Geez. The 70's. One of the last truly original decades. Right now it's warbling the controls and electronic noise crap (*I'm writing an intendedly humorous book about that) and retro mashup style new recordings for old people to generate new permissions. Fucking lawyer scum. I hope there's a hell for those people. Joke thieves and song thieves alike |

This is even over the heads of much of their fanbase, from what I've been reading. As far as I'm concerned, the title track of Drones is the best and most original thing to happen in popular music in decades. Polyphonic music hasn't sold millions since it was heard on Yes albums. Just let morons be morons. It's not worth your time or energy. |

Just some kind of similarity in some instrumental parts, that's pretty much it. And similar ambition to some Queen songs (Wikipedia: "Jim Steinman wanted to write the "most extreme crash song of all time."" ) but on a completely different quality level :P And I'll have to admit, Muse have been doing quite nice things lately. |

Extreme - Three Sides to Every Story. If anyone hasn't heard it before, check out the last three tracks on the album: Everything Under The Sun: Rise 'N Shine / Am I Ever Gonna Change / Who Cares? (linked below). They're very good. If you don't wish to listen to all of them, skip to the last track - which starts at around 13:21 - and listen to that, particularly the guitar solo, which kicks in @ around 18:00 - very Brian May sounding. link |

Ah gotcha. It's hard to tell sometimes. Particularly if nobody bothered to listen to it. Then in future times (YES) someone would invariably quote it as a song copying SEASIDE RENDEZVOUS. Then it would be featured in a QOL biography. |

It's used often to suggest a pause whilst thinking, or as an awkward conversation filler. Usually people say 'er' too but 'erm' is a variant of it.(often sounded as 'um') |
queenero66 19.07.2015 14:13 |
(sorry my english) the sound of the album "The Division Bell" of pink flod reminds me of the sound of "made in heaven" the sound of the album "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath reminds me queen in the 70's My Chemical Romance was greatly influenced by Queen, indeed, brian may play with them once (yes, I know, they are not the best) |
Vocal harmony 20.07.2015 07:50 |
Interesting remarks about the sound (production values). I'd agree that there are moments on the first album where the gritty guitar sounds echo some of the feel of early Sabbath. As for Made In Heaven I think Queen had lost much of their original production signatures by the early 80's and this became more noticeable later in the decade and into the 90's. So that the sound in the overall production became less defined as a Queen sound and closer to the way other artists recorded or were produced. |
