Which song, do you believe, were they most self-absorbed and theatrical, and best exemplified their "pomp rock" status?
(That was poorly worded...)
I like "The Millionaire Waltz" very much in this regard. The guitar solo gets me every time. :)
Yes, millionaire waltz is quite something. Seaside rendezvous is an absolute delight, so mind blowing when it is followed by the prophets song, was there ever a more diverse group ? . Ditto when White man is followed by good old fashioned lover boy. They were from another planet .
Yeah good old fashioned lover boy.
Go figure.
If it wasn't such a great song it'd be universally derided for being so absurd and self absorbed.
1.2.3.4.precisely!
I will pay the bill you taste the wine.
That the unsung SOUL BROTHER and Delilah.
I don't know what "camp" means, but if it is what I think it is (I don't really know what I think it is), then It's A Hard Life for me. The grandiose of the song, put together with the ridiculous video. How Freddie could keep a straight face in that costume while singing "There's no reason for living with a broken heart", is beyond me.

I think the contrasts you mentioned might be due to the fact that one song is written by Freddie and the other by Brian. They are the most contrasted music couple I have ever seen, character wise or appearance wise (Paul McCartney and John Lennon look almost identical if compared to them).
