I want to start in the trading world, 'cause of Queen. How can I start? I mean, I don't have any "never leaked to the public" thing. Also, some recommendations for future trades, if I have the opportunity to start. And if you have any experience you want to write, feel free about it. PS: Some users in The Trader's Den dedicated me some posts saying they love me. LOL! link link |

Hm, the f#%k those threads on TTD are on about? They're interesting though. |
BETA215 18.01.2015 13:04 |
I think they like to troll new users. But, given that the topic started in 2012, I don't know if it's a coincidence of WTF it is. |
Chief Mouse 18.01.2015 13:11 |
Now, how can you start? Achieve something that's not freely available to general public. I don't know how can you do that. Maybe you can buy something somewhere if you got spare money. Then try to offer it to someone. That's all. |

Sometimes, you can get lucky in unlikely places. I bought a huge box of cassettes with Queen bootlegs on them. It turned out a few (very few, but still a handful) were better versions than available. The (by now circulating widely) Providence '80 recording in B+/A- quality was one of them. |

I got caught with that thread on TTD too before I realised, it is fun though, [you] does not work here just in case any of you want to try. As for trading, you are going to need something however small that has not been shared to get started. In time you will develop contacts and a good reputation as long as you are honest and fair and do not post anything you trade for. Personally I find it a bit tedious and I am happy to have the material that is shared here or dribbled out slowly by the bigger traders. It is a bit hard to get there and time consuming but if you are patient, honest and have something to offer the doors are wide open for you and anybody else. There really is not as much as you think out there unless you are into studio stuff like demos and unreleased acetates etc. Personally the live material is my thing be it audio or video, I have spent years looking for certain recordings, like a good master of Dublin 1984 audio and a proper master of the Slane concert in '86 for example but they are just not out there to get. Gregsynth did a nice remaster of the Dublin '84 audio and Bob did some great work on the Slane audio too, all shared here freely. |

"In time you will develop contacts and a good reputation as long as you are honest and fair and do not post anything you trade for." This is spot on. As someone who's in the Elton John trading scene, I always try to maintain positive contacts with anybody who actively trades. Sometimes it takes months before a show can be available for public viewing - but it's definitely worth it in the end. I'm currently in a recording project with some people - it's gonna be a good 2015 for Elton fans! :) |

Interesting reading. So as a trader you should not post anything you trade for? This seems a little bit pointless if the person you traded it with doesn't mind. This is how material ends up being "locked" in small circles or hoarded. I have dealt with more than one trader who will freely give you a never before shared item or upgrade and not mind if you share it on. What I am trying to say is there comes a point where somebody has to decide to let it go. In my opinion the best way to trade is to give a little, it does your reputation no harm at all. What's the point of taking it to your grave? |

the trading circuit is more divided than ever, as far as I can see the "regular" traders, who before high speed internet used to trade cds/tapes etc. Alot of what was being traded here is now available online, on various sites, as torrents etc. Thus, the need for actual trading to obtain a huge amount of live recordings is very often not necessary. The "elite" group of traders, the ones who have rare stuff in their collections, is, as I now see it, a more closed group than ever. To avoid rare recordings being leaked online, these people will only trade with a limited selection of traders, who they trust their rare recordings with. So to sum up; no idea how to become part of the elite traders :) it's easier than ever to obtain quite alot though, which before downloading wasn't always easy. When I got started I traded blank tapes/cds for certain shows, which got me going. |

Don't do it BETA, just wait for the selfless shares. There's stuff I paid good money for before the high speed internet downloads, and things that I traded lots for, and they just ended up here anyway. In fact, the version of Glasgow '74 that was shared here last week is my version - wasn't even me who shared it lol. I now see there's another hoo-ha, concerning some other show. Don't get mixed up in it. Don't put the effort in. Just wait, patiently :) Or else buy JSS's "Hangman" acetate - the gems will roll in lol. |

Barry Durex wrote: So as a trader you should not post anything you trade for?Sometimes - depends on who you're dealing with. But usually not. What's the point of taking it to your grave?Very few people intend it to happen that way. The point is to accumulate as many things as possible and then let things leak out as time goes on. In a perfect world everyone would just share everything. But there is no utopia. It's complicated. The more you dabble into these things, the more you see that there are so many variables. |

there are still quite a few gems to be discovered. How would someone actually get in contact with the 'inner circle' if you have something really special to offer |

He's just the creator of a great Queen website, queenlive.ca. He seem to know what he's talking about, but more than seem, he is not what it seems. He's better than that. And well, he is a ******. |
