Queen has been posting videos from the japan gig on its youtube channel recently so it is likely they will release this concert in full this year? I rather have gigs from 1975 though. |
KumoNin 04.01.2015 03:47 |
I think that may be a possibility. But to ThomasWhoopee, ANATO tour had a very similar setlist to SHA tour (but with less earlier stuff), which we just got 4 months ago. Sooooo... I would much rather get a '77 or '79 show. As many know, Hammersmith '79 was fucking awesome, and they recorded it (correct me if I'm wrong). Also possibly Live Killers video edition (maybe more "LIVE") using footage from the Jazz tour. I believe all of this is possible. What's also possible is 1985 Japan. Oh well. |
pittrek 04.01.2015 04:55 |
Well Japan 1985 WAS officially released, and as usually more than once. |
cmsdrums 04.01.2015 10:12 |
If they do release either Japan 85 or Rio again, it had better be with remastered picture and a new audio mix; both are horrendous in their current forms (though Japan has better picture than Rio). Agreed though that Hammy 79 is the perfect candidate for a next release. |
Queenman!! 04.01.2015 10:31 |
Over the years I saw different versions of this gig, but all incomplete. Anyone know if a full complete one is in the vaults op QP |
Viper 05.01.2015 03:52 |
It may exist. But Freddie's performance is not so good, so I dont believe it will be released. |
MackMantilla 05.01.2015 10:29 |
I was already released on DVD in 2004, but only in Japan. But it was the same edit as the previous LaserDisc and VHS issues. I wonder if they still have the rushes of that concert.... |
LucasDiego 05.01.2015 14:16 |
Here in Brazil, it was released as bootleg in 2012, good show, but not the best |
tomchristie22 05.01.2015 15:35 |
They haven't recently put this many videos up of any of the shows before releasing them properly. The youtube uploads themselves may be QP's way of 'releasing' them, at least for now. |
pestgrid 05.01.2015 15:58 |
Laserdisc has the best quality. Near blu ray imagery. All the Dvd's have actually been taken from the laserdisc, it's worth investing into laserdisc just for the queen films. Even Budapest is near blu ray quality....... |
pittrek 06.01.2015 04:22 |
So an analog picture with 425 (NTSC) or 440 (PAL) lines resolution is comparable with a digital image with 1080 lines of resolution? |

I don't really like Fredd's Vocals on Japan Vídeos of Youtube's Queen Channel, and it is public knowed that Freddie's Vocals on LIVE KILLERS were overdubed on extreme cause he was in a horrible vocal condition |
Oscar J 07.01.2015 10:45 |
Yep, neither has Freddie in very good shape. |
The Real Wizard 07.01.2015 13:24 |
Outside of 1980-82, Freddie often wasn't in good vocal shape. But the show is a complete experience with so many aspects. Very few people in an audience are analyzing which notes the guys are playing and singing, if any at all. Even people who saw Zeppelin in January 73 when Plant had a horrible flu said they didn't notice anything was wrong. It's only now when we hear the tapes independent from the spectacle of the show that we can zero in on that side of things. |

The Real Wizard wrote: Outside of 1980-82, Freddie often wasn't in good vocal shape. That's a bit harsh - I think he was rather consistently in good vocal shape 1973 - 1975, on the NOTW tour and on the majority of their shows except on the Jazz/Works tour. Depends what you consider good, I suppose. |

This show has always been missing Dragon Attack, Brian's guitar solo and the ending of Brighton Rock. Anyone know why? All of the radio broadcasts are missing them, too. |

Always felt that the 82 and 85 Japan shows should get an official release (CD, DVD) for the rest of the world as they have only been made available in Japan only. |
Doga 08.01.2015 07:09 |
The surprise is the 79 and 82 are realeased (even not in full), considering the state of Freddie's voice. The Yoyogi gig, on the other hand, only need a proper remixing, with less synths and more Red Special. |

Lostman wrote: Anyway, the guitar solo and Brighton Rock (ending) still remain a mystery. It's hardly a mystery, is it? A repetitive guitar solo (continuing all the way from 1969!) is the first thing to get the axe when you're making a recording interesting for the general public. Especially when you have to cut a show into a specific length, for example to fit on to a 90 minute video tape. |
Gregsynth 22.01.2015 09:10 |
To be fair, Freddie doesn't sound bad on the 5/11/1985 show. He does sing great versions of songs like "Dragon Attack," "Hammer To Fall," "Radio Ga Ga" and "It's A Hard Life" sounds pretty decent. I just wished either 5/8 or 5/9 was the taped show - those were killer shows! |
Biggus Dickus 08.10.2015 10:04 |
Just watched this today. Not bad at all, especially with the radio audio. The official audio sucks. One thing I noticed was that Spike's guitar was hilariously out of tune during Hammer To Fall. The guy comes to the stage to play guitar for only a few mintes and still his guitar is ouf of tune lol. |

It'd be an interesting question to ask him. |
moonie 09.10.2015 16:09 |
I'd hazard a guess that Brian's tech would maybe look after Spike's guitar too.. Given that he only used it once or twice. |

Do you guys know if there's a proper recording, with multi tracks, of this show (5/11/1985)? |

Viper 28.08.2018 17:50 |
I mean a proper recording of the show like they did with the official releases (wembley, rainbow, montreal, etc, etc), with the voice track, guitar, bass, drums, piano, etc. |

Yes I know that only QP has that stuff. I intend to know if we know they have those to this particular show, because as far as I know they haven't recorded every show. |
