The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 12:59 |
This is pretty interesting.... link OK, The Show Must Go On, and Crazy Little Thing played at soundcheck, no surprises at all there....... But Drowse??? Drowse?? Whoa..........:O I know that doesn't necessarily mean they will play that tonight, but I hope they do! And let's see a few more relatively obscure songs added to the set list while we're at it...... |
The Real Wizard 31.12.2014 13:10 |
Interesting ! Roger or Adam on vocals, though !? |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 13:24 |
Now that's the question, Wizard! Personally I'm hoping its Roger.........maybe we'll find out tonight...... |
Brian Maybe 31.12.2014 15:49 |
If it's not Roger, I will have to end my support of this collaboration! ;-) |
gerry 31.12.2014 15:57 |
car crash that sees in 2015 ! |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 16:07 |
I have a tough time imagining anyone but Roger singing that song, but if they do indeed play it, and it's Adam singing it, I'll at least reserve judgement until I hear it! I'm thinking, though......isnt this supposed to be like a one-hour long show? I'd think they would save the more obscure material for the full-length shows later...... |
jeffuk49 31.12.2014 16:30 |
Gerry yawn yawn if you dont like it dont watch |
khe73 31.12.2014 16:40 |
Heard that 10.30 is the time for fans at gig, so drowse will be in the unshown part, hits surely for the broadcast |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 17:16 |
^^^ I think so......they came on the air to the end of AKOM! |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 17:18 |
why not.......I'll keep updating the set list..... 1. Dont Stop Me Now 2. I Want To Break Free 3. Somebody To Love (no fast bit at the end!) 4. Another One Bites The Dust 5. Under Pressure (Roger's drumming and singing sounding really good here!) 6. Fat Bottomed Girls 7. Radio Ga Ga (no surprises here, eh?) 8. I Want It All 9. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 10. The Show Must Go On break for NYE festivities (happy New Year, UK!) "this programme contains flashing images"......duh! back to the band....... 11. Bohemian Rhapsody (up to where the opera bit would be) 12. Killer Queen 13. Bohemian Rhapsody reprise (shades of ANATO concerts!) 14. We Will Rock You (with bagpipes intro!!!) 15. We Are The Champions 16. God Save The Queen tape |
Brian Maybe 31.12.2014 17:37 |
I came in as Don't Stop Me Now was on, and thought that was a strange choice for an opener. Now that makes sense, that they started the concert before the broadcast. Too bad! |
tomchristie22 31.12.2014 17:44 |
Do we know how much they played before the broadcast started? If Roger sang Drowse and it wasn't filmed... Grr |
Mr.Mouth 31.12.2014 17:45 |
Another squelling dead cat voice moments live. . "No power,no charisma,no own songs, karaoke Queen fail singer"=Mr.Lambert Hate music plastic products. .sorry guys but just dont like this guys voice. That guy would never writte huge rock hit, years are behind us and still Mr.Lamnert fails in that. Result=Karaoke squelling cat fail |
Somebody to loveeeeee 31.12.2014 17:53 |
It's all very save and sound with no surprises and without much energy, but Brian is playing better than ever before. He nails everything he does. Roger is also perfectly fine, though hopelessly out of shape. Wicked beard though. There is a bassguitar, but you have to listen well to hear it. Turn that volume up. Adam does everything "alright" but has no charisma. It's a trick he does. There's not even a trace amount of rock in his body. But he hits the high notes, so there's that. |
4 x Vision 31.12.2014 17:55 |
Not an Adam hater, but just can't get into this gig, its pretty soulless... maybe its the venue or sound? A shame as was looking forward to it! |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 17:57 |
maybe I just have the sound set right on my computer but I can the hear the bass guitar just FINE!!! |
Somebody to loveeeeee 31.12.2014 18:05 |
Listening on tv. During AOBTD the riff played by Brian totally overshadowed the riff played by the bassguitar. That was a pity. |
cmsdrums 31.12.2014 18:12 |
The tv mix is good, but very 'clean' and 'safe'; not much bass and the guitar is not that 'raw'. I hope to see what they played before the broadcast joined at Don't Stop Me Now; hopefully the bbc may put the whole gig online or on the red button after. If 'Drowse' was soundchecked there's no way that'll be for tonight, at least in the broadcast 'TV hits show' - possibly in preparation for the tour though. |
horse feathers 31.12.2014 18:19 |
Brian is very sloppy, CLTCL, was actually dreadful, when he played the intro. He also looks a little drunk and very much not on it, tonight. I've never been an Adam fan and especially with Spike and his dreadful samples and cumbersome piano playing, it really is like 'Fake Queen', well half of a 'Fake Queen'. BTW, the bass is there, and the levels are very good, I'm listening to it not on a PC, the mix is very good. If only they could get the singer out of the mix, it would be tons better. |
cmsdrums 31.12.2014 18:25 |
Brian is not 'on it' tonight??? Not a bum note in the first hour, and some nice improvised bits on the solos; I must be watching a different gig..... |

As for the show overall, disappointing hits only setlist. But that's par for the course for a big broadcast like this. They gotta go for the masses... |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 18:36 |
They played the studio recording of AKOM over the closing credits.........was it the studio version at the start, too? |
MJDSQ 31.12.2014 18:39 |
Great show...Very nice addition of Killer Queen between the first and second Bohemian Rhapsody parts. I also think Brian shined tonight and they were having a lot of fun...you can see in their faces...That's joy and it translates. Happy new year folks! |

For those that think my comments about Brian not being on it. Let me tell you I don't drink and am therefore sober. And the playing of the intro for CLTCL was awful. Watch it all again, when you are sober. |
jeffuk49 31.12.2014 18:52 |
hey so looking forward to the 17th and this is a queen fan who's first concert was in 84 so bloody excited |
winterspelt 31.12.2014 18:58 |
I dont know about you, guys, but I got a very weird mix in the BBC stream, sometimes I heard only one instrument, sometimes just Roger or Adam's vocals, etc Anyway, I enjoyed it, I liked it and such a shame they didnt played Drowse. According to Brian's site, they didnt played anything more that the songs we got on the stream. Since I had lots of issues with the mix (Im sure all of you had the same issues as me) I was watching the video while listening an audio-only stream from someone in the audience, which BTW was great! |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 19:01 |
I didnt have any issues like that! Only thing I had was some weird background noise now and then......I thought it sounded pretty good altogether........ |

Watch it all again, when you are sober.I'm perfectly sober - it started at 3:15pm here on the US west coast! :-) I will watch that again, if it's archived somewhere, or if someone captured it. I didn't notice his playing as off at all, but I couldn't turn it up too loud. But yes, Brian's been known to have his off moments, so maybe he did here, too, I just didn't catch it, and some things I specifically listened for were very much on. |
Mr.QueenFan 31.12.2014 20:32 |
The performance was fantastic! Brian was near perfection tonight. I think that the TV mix was bad - according to other users - but i'm outside UK and i can tell you that the Internet stream was fantastic. Great sound and image! I hope someone recorded the Internet stream - at least the sound - to synch with the great image of the TV broadcast. Happy 2015 everyone! P.S.- I don't hink there was a concert before Don't Stop me Now, at least according the the set-list on QO. |
NickESB 31.12.2014 20:38 |
Quick note before a full review later: the band didn't play anything that wasn't aired by the BBC. Despite a 10.30pm scheduled start time, they came on to fit the TV broadcast. Now, who wants to master my (seemingly complete!) audience recording? |
terraj 31.12.2014 21:08 |
I'd love to have your audio when you've uploaded it. I'd like to sync it with the video. |
DrumBrother 01.01.2015 05:18 |
Guitar was way too low on FBG. Other than that I thought it was a pretty good show. |
oliverd05 01.01.2015 06:54 |
show was absolutely incredible, Brian was near perfection tonight!!! guitar sounded nice from the balconies |

The performance was quite good, esp. BoRhap/Killer Queen/Rock Section [ending]. Maybe it seems to be so "soulless" as their movement was limited by the stage. Brian's playing was really cool but when I saw Roger's expression during I Want it All guitar passage and then guitar solo I thought that he was gonna have a heart attack. PS. I bet that Bri had a little drink or a vodka shot before the performance, he was so relaxed and smiled very often. |

I also thought it was odd the way he stared at Adam during Under Pressure like he had a man crush on him! Was really odd! Brian's playing was the highlight... played safe on DSMN and then got more gutsy as the gig went on. |

Hey, Happy New Year! Unfortunately, I missed it last night. But I've caught a few of the videos. Since the venue was so much smaller than any of the summer gigs it must have been a big adjustment, still, they looked happy and excited to be there. As for the crowd, a helluva good story for their New Year's Eve. Way to kick off 2015. |

Watch it all again, when you are sober.I watched it again last night, in a sober state (as I was when I first watched it, in fact!!)....WHAT exactly was so awful about how Brian played the intro? It sounded fine to me.........its a D major chord! There's not a lot TO screw up.... The way they played the intro on the Q+PR tours always kinda bugged me ever so slightly, actually....how Paul always threw a few extra G notes in there.....lol |

Watch it all again, when you are sober.I'm sober. My conclusion: You're deaf. Or so biased that you don't even know what you're hearing. Bri is playing better than ever. The BoRhap solo may be the best he's ever done live. After all these years it's still so expressive, and spotless on this occasion. And the Under Pressure duet was such a joy to watch. These men are having such a good time on stage. Lambert has grown into the role. A far cry from 2012. He serves the songs so much better now. He's doing this music justice. In a few years this isn't going to exist, folks. Soak in what you can. Half of Queen still exist and are having more fun playing together than they have in decades. |
The King Of Rhye 02.01.2015 21:41 |
^^^ Amen to that! |
queenUSA 03.01.2015 00:16 |
^^^^ and another Amen to that. I finally saw the entire show today. I like a crowd that's up on their feet the entire concert and completely into it. At the very end Adam tried to yield the stage over to only Brian and Roger but they were having none of it and were wildly motioning for him to step back in, even chasing him. I wonder why people root for Adam? Hmmmmmmm. |
The King Of Rhye 03.01.2015 09:26 |
Did anyone besides the OP actually find the intro to CLTCL 'awful'? Still trying to figure that one out.... |
Kayd 05.01.2015 13:29 |
I just rewatched it and can't find anything off about it. The intro is so simple that I am not sure how he could mess it up. Generally, I thought Brian was in great form for this concert -- with a few standout guitar solos. |
Togg 07.01.2015 07:27 |
Not sure what the comments about 'not being on it' are about, have watched it several times now and he seems pretty damn spot on to me. The sound in the rather 'church like' hall is not great but a terrific show |
OwenSmith 07.01.2015 07:41 |
I love that new guitar with the F hole and no tremolo arm that Brian is playing for the opening of Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It's got such a great acoustic style sound, so different to the Red Special despite the design being based on it. |
Vocal harmony 07.01.2015 10:19 |
They nailed it, in so many ways! Oh yeah one other point, the BBC had been keeping an eye on the tour and as a result asked them to play that gig. |
