Arguably the most eagerly awaited tracks to be found on Queen‘s next album, ‘Queen Forever,’ are the official release of some duets Freddie Mercury made with Michael Jackson. However, drummer Roger Taylor says that Jackson’s estate is currently holding up the proceedings.
“[Yes], if we could get a decision from the Michael Jackson estate, who seem to be, well, difficult,” Taylor told the London Evening Standard. “William Orbit did a really nice mix of one of our tracks with Michael and I’m pretty certain that will be on ‘Queen Forever.’ But it’s been like wading through glue.”
Taylor and guitarist Brian May have been working with Orbit on completing unfinished music that in their vaults and debuted one of the possible songs, ‘Love Kills,’ this summer while on the road with Adam Lambert. While they hope to have it ready by Christmas, Taylor admitted that he’s still a bit vague on the details.
“I’m not quite sure what’s on it yet,” he continued. “We’ve got some great new tracks that haven’t been heard and there’s an interesting selection of older stuff.” link
imho. they should dig those wacko vocals and publish a queenifized version of TMBMTLTT.
don't care for those other two songs any more.
i mean... those wackos got two really fine musicians who polished up and let produce some average demos that are some 30 years old ... and all they say is... nothing at all ? hilarious.
especially when you got those real good artists working on something which would never see the day of light (BM and RT, that is)
for what it means is that we either shouldn't count on a certain quality, which i rather doubt - or that it's all about the money.. so.
if you get a pocket full of money and demand a bucket full of it... well... that's a very odd behavior.
dig that shit by any means.!
I'd love to see State Of Shock with Freddie's vocals only, reworked by Queen, but as it's Michael's song this must be impossible to release. But what about forgotten "Victory"? They wrote it together according to Phoebe.
I'd like to release a "tero! 48531+Freddie Mercury+Michael Jackson" EP, and I have just as much of a legal and moral right to do it as Roger.
Where can I go to cry about the cruelty of the MJ estate, and be interviewed about it?

sad but true. but you have my vote :-)

does the world need this ? if it was any good in terms of songwriting, it would have been published years ago. those wacko-clowns got irritated because they have no idea that british music is way different than american. and there you have a product polished by two englishmen. which surely is so far from being MJ-branded as a fish is interested in riding bikes.
all assumption, of course. my very own opinion. for what it's worth.
*gmpf*
"It either comes quickly, and you have it. And I say yes we have it. But if a song isn't happening I say forget it let's try something else" Freddie Mercury.
Quite an apt comment I think. These Jacko tracks should be left forgotten. I don't care how polished and we'll produced they are. You can't polish a turd!

Surely that's the easiest way of doing it? Then it's a Queen cover of a Jacksons song, and no permission is necessary...

Easiest, yes, but not the most profitable.
You have to remember that it's about QP making money, not about fans getting rare songs.
We've all heard these Freddie/MJ songs on YouTube, anyway. I hope they have some stuff to be released that hasn't been leaked in previous years...Queen songs...I don't care about MJ. I'd REALLY love to hear unreleased tracks from the '70's!

Not necessarily. The Universal rep at the Freddie For A Day Rainbow '74 screening event at Hard Rock Cafe said "This year" when someone asked about Queen Forever's release date.
I certainly hope it's this year - we've been 'promised' it for a couple of years in a row, and they always usually give us a Xmas 'stocking filler'. On the back of such as successful tour and rave reviews for The Rainbow release, if they don't do it this year it's most likely going to end up being another whole year before they have the right opportunity to sell it.

Universal probably won't be too impressed if they've got nothing else to offer by the time the Christmas season rolls around. I can't imagine them not pushing to have QF out this year, especially with all the preemptive noise being made about it this past summer.
Queen do have ways with words don't they, to tart something up.
Roger says they have some great new tracks no one has heard before, but we have roger, apart from "let me in your heart again" the rest has been on the net for years.
i think this album has been lazily put together, and i am very disappointed with it.
Ok new version of "Love kills" still freds old vocal,
and the same for the freddie /michael jackson track.
We have all been short changed again.

"Typical"? how is it typical? I don't recall the Jackson Estate ever holding up any queen releases before.
My apologies...I'm forgetting Tito's temporary injunction that prevented the initial release of "A Day At The Races", and then there was La Toya's protest that they used her ass on a picture sleeve single release - resulting in the delayed charting of Bicycle Race/Fat Bottomed Girls
