Nice one inu. Glad you have included the snippets of songs throughout the show. These usually go unnoticed or are just ignored. |

Speaking of snippets GT, I've got several video clips recorded on my Blackberry Pearl (would have used my iPhone 3GS, but the battery was very low :( ), which I'll sync the audio to next week or so and put out there eventually :) |

This sounds brilliant. Roger Taylor is on fire during NIH. I'm looking forward to read your review from this show. For what i've heard so far, it was amazing. Brian guitar sounds so good live. I kid you not, but the moment i start to hear Roger doing the backups on "Now i'm here" a tear starts to form in my eyes. 2014 and we still get so see and hear those beautifull backing vocals of Roger that are such a huge part of the Queen live sound. I hope i will get to see Brian play "Killer Queen" live . I know i will cry if that happens - like a little baby :-) Thanks a lot for this excellent recording. |

Thank you very much!!! Brian just said on his soapbox that this was the loudest audience so far, let's check it out! I'm looking forward to listening to this recording because of the previous responses this post has got! Cheers! |

What have they donne to DSMN?! They cut the song when the song is reaching it's peak. The only thing i didn't like so far in this wonderfull concert. I hope it gets back on the set in it's complete form. |

bucsateflon wrote: it doesn't seem loud at all and Adam sounds thin as shit, no rock balls at all, unfortunatelyTrust me, it WAS loud! I think my hearing took a hit from last night, cos I had a hard time understanding a friend of mine that I just met up with earlier this noon in Calgary (oh yes, I just arrived there short of 3 hours ago at time of writing, btw :) ) The Sound Professionals mics have interestingly rarely ever been able to capture the audience at 100% in terms of playback replication, but sometimes that's not a bad thing, since you're really there to capture the music as the #1 priority. I just wonder how the hell they designed their mics this way?? :) |

ahh what a diamond you are my friend.. now this is incredible recording!! Quick question, did you use the inbuilt mics to record this? or external, seriously considering purchasing one of these things, the sound quality is outstanding, no hiss or distortion to the sound whatsoever :) again amazing job, cannot wait for Calgary now you've said that! :D |
matt z 25.06.2014 19:41 |
Thanks for the share inu. I'm debating the outcome of recording. Did you utilize any built in noise gate/low freq shelf? |

Many people just don't understand what those little things mean to us, or people who apreciate the guitar world. To see this man at 67 y.o. still playing the Killer Queen solo with those pitch perfect bendings and vibrato brings a tear to my eye. Not to mantion that i really got scared at the last years Brian's health scare scenario. I'm going to enjoy it and support them to the max. |

No, actually external mics were used. If you look at the lineage, the info is there. I used Sound Professionals mics (the SP-BMC-3 model) enclosed in a croakie set that I use on my glasses, and then connected to the Microphone Madness battery booster module which then connects into the Roland R-05's line-in port. Which all explains the clean sound :) Plus Roland's handheld recorders (of which I have an R-09 and an R-05) have exceptionally good electronic components, whether you're doing internal or external recordings. My Queen Extravaganza recording from Edmonton was done on the R-09 using its internal mics, and that still turned out pretty good :) |
MercurialFreddie 26.06.2014 13:58 |
Many, many thanks for this great share ! :) Brian's voice sounds so weak on LOML and 39'. Not sure though if it's age or his mic problem. |
people on streets 26.06.2014 17:09 |
Listened to the show. Boy, Im so glad I went to 7 Q+PR shows back in the day. This is just terrible. '39 sounds so fucking bad, Brian is fucking up many guitar parts on the other songs including the solo. What a joke. They should be ashamed of themselves. |
inu-liger 27.06.2014 02:54 |
Not to worry, Calgary totally made up for that, as you will get to hear in a few days after I return home :) I think Brian was just exhausted from having done a show in Saskatoon the night before and having to travel right away after the show. What a difference having a day off makes! |
The King Of Rhye 27.06.2014 10:49 |
by the way, I love the audience comments you can hear on this............during the intro: "I can't see!"......... and later there was something like "Enjoy it, they might not come back!" :D |

Thanks for the share, Inu :-) Sound quality is really great. Got a few questions. 1) What sensitivity SP-BMC-3 did you choose? I went to their site and they offer a few - High, Ultra High and Standart. 2) SP-EMC-3 Croakie Eyeglass Retainer - what is this for? What does it do exactly? Sorry if it's a dumb question :P Edit: nevermind, just saw "enclosed in a croakie set that I use on my glasses" 3) What battery power supply to choose? Is SP-SPSB-10 from their site any good? What are the differences in general from cheaper to more expensive ones? 4) And lastly, what exactly does the recorder change, I mean in quality and stuff. What would you recommend for a budget price? I've got a crappy Sony ICD-UX533, I guess that's no good for recordings like this? -- 'Cos in case the old guys decide to come to Europe (they haven't been in my country since 2008, well, Brian was here with Kerry Ellis recently) I would be more than willing to go and record it for you guys. Gotta start saving up for some budget gear :P |

What would you recommend for a budget price?First of all, what are you willing to spend as far as a "budget" price range goes? :) Second, the A/D converters in the Roland R-05/R-09/R-09HR are incredibly excellent whether doing internal or external recording. As you've heard on the recording, it gives a very clean sound, no background artifacts to speak of. I've got a crappy Sony ICD-UX533, I guess that's no good for recordings like this?Absolutely not. a) It only records in mono despite having a built-in stereo microphone which makes little logical sense, and b) It does not have a line-in input port. Using a microphone input will only leave it very distorted and noisy, never mind the aforementioned mono factor. -- 'Cos in case the old guys decide to come to Europe (they haven't been in my country since 2008, well, Brian was here with Kerry Ellis recently) I would be more than willing to go and record it for you guys. And think of it as an all purpose investment, don't just limit yourself to Queen(-related) gigs ;) If you play in a band or your friends play in bands, that's one good use of a recorder right there for obvious reasons :) |
