I was going throughout the Illustrated Lyrics Book (like for the thousandth time of course) when I saw the picture of the full lyrics for ML in Freddie's handwriting. It's all in one sheet of paper. Then, it just clicked that I had recently seen footage of an interview with Brian who was explaining his final recording process with Freddie for this song. He mentions that at this point they were creating the lyrics on the fly and that he just kept writing lines in a piece of paper and feeding it to Freddie to sing etc...
See where I'm going?
In this case how come we have the complete song in a sheet of paper in Freddie's handwriting.
Just a mere observation that I wanted to share...
That is indeed a mystery, and I just loove mysteries! Does anybody have the correct info about this? I have heard Brian's statement as well in some interview. Unless Freddie just copied them all later on for continuity? (That would be a truly boring explanation... )
Most likely they were just handwritten after the initial scraps to make note of the "finalized" versions.
Happens with my band as well. It's just more convenient when singing (especially if the words are new) than to selectively read in between the lines and arrows of marginal corrections.
Just a simple explanation that's probably the most likely
No mystery at all! Freddie, as a lot of singers, was more comfortable reading from his own handwriting. In the same book you can see some Freddie-handwritten pieces of songs by other members of Queen.
Mother Love is my favorite song off Made in Heaven no question, great power and passion from Freddie in the bridge and chilling vocals on the verses IMO.
As a songwriter myself i know there are thousands of ways to arrange a song...and I've always wondered whether Brian had considered singing the last verse not as Freddie but as the friend looking on.
So instead of
My body's aching, but I can't sleep
My dreams are all the company I keep
Got such a feeling as the sun goes down
I'm coming home to my sweet -
Mother love
it becomes
Your body's aching, but you can't sleep
Your dreams are all the company you keep
Got such a feeling as the sun goes down
You're going home to your sweet -
Mother love
It's just something I always wonder....nevertheless it's an awesome song
