Freddie used to chacge BoRhap is several occasions due to his voice failing him.
The alternative sequence of the melody varies between those venus but more or less he used a similar way to get the job done.
This is more apparent on Freddie Mercury Sings Bohemian Rhapsody While Drunk
Do you like the way he changes the song with that descending scale of notes and more belting?
Actually i quite like it. It grew on me, and i find it more melancholic and intimate in a way.
ho claims he was drunk :
Little lesson : alcohol works for the time passing. This is so not true. FM even forgot his words at the opening in the 1977 tour. And that was in the beginning of the show.
When was drunk one would have noticed it in the early part of the gig, but that was flawless, he did not speak with a double tonque while announcing White Queen , he was not drunk just nervous or had a bad day. Whoever told you he was drunk was merly based on a opinion and SURELY NOT A FACT !!!!!!!!
We have documents on bootlegs FM messing up the words from 1975 - 1986 So don;t mention he was drunk. This will only a add another piece of folklore and not any fact.
This post is not about Freddie being or not drunk. If he was...big deal. If he wasn't the same. Admittedly he ve been drunk at least once (and became sober through the second half of the concert).
And who knows how many times John been half drunk( or drunk) through the Magic tour.
They got the job done so really no issue here.
The post is about if you like the alterations and phrasing Freddie did, when not in shape, in BoRhap.
Becouse it wasn't like he just skiped the high notes.
He almost created an alternative melody wich in my case stands as strong as the original creating a different vibe out of the song.
That Osaka version of the song always puts me in a good mood.
But yeah, there was a mid-show party between the two Osaka shows and Freddie probably had a couple drinks or something. On the first half the show, he's playing wrong notes on the piano and slightly slurring throughout songs (plus having that thick tone you get from alcohol).
He does sober up about 2/3rds of the way through the show.
Queen were never a band known from their drunkeness. A few drunk shows here and there is pretty normal and average for a rock band. Fleetwood Mac on the other hand...
But yeah, I love this drunk Bo Rhap. Makes me want to listen to it while I drink beer!

I just listened molst of the Osaka bootleg.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
1) BoRhap : "carry on carry on" (exeptional !!!) / "born at all" (intersesting alteration)
2) Dragon Attack : Brian is very groovy on this one
3)...and of course introducing Elton John as a " well known poofter" before Saturday Ninght is allright for fighting
