According to CDUniverse.co, there is a new DVD title with a release date of June 10th of this year. The title is "Queen of the 1970s". There is a short summary, but you cannot tell what kind of DVD this is. Is it another video compilation? A third-rate rockumentary? One clue is that it is being released on Koch Films. link |

Even if it's an unofficial documentary, at least it's nice in that regard to get something that actually focuses on the formative '70s era, and puts more market pressure on Queen to put some focus on the 70s stuff :) |

Sounds like regular documentary... |

It's region 1 NTSC. The new official Queen DVDs are NTSC, but region 0 (meaning no region restrictions) |

It looks like the publisher is -KOCH MEDIA-. In Germany the company is known for more "cheaper" productions. But the content could be surprising, maybe they bought unreleased stuff out of TV-station stock. Well M-A-Y-B-E ! |

Or it could be a re-run of this: Becoming Queen Released 8 June 2004 Notes: "Becoming Queen" is a one-hour "rockumentary" about the formation of one of the most unique rock bands of all time. Extensive rare photos, archival footage and interviews with musicians, friends, BBC personalities and the band members themselves create this unique insight into the band that literally invented "stadium rock." or this: Magic Moments Released 15 June 2004 Notes: This DVD features exclusive and previously unseen film footage including in-depth interviews with those that worked closely with Queen throughout their career, including Wayne Sleep, Annie Nightingale, Peter Stringfellow, old friends, Journalists and Producers, as well as rare band footage interspersed through the program. Queen: Magic Moments traces the roots of their success, telling the bands story from day one to the day Freddie died. Using rare band footage and exclusive interviews with the groups closest confidantes this DVD is destined to become the ultimate Queen documentary. Or even this: Under Review - 1973 - 1980 Released 15 November 2005 Notes: Queen Under Review 1973 - 1980 features rare live and studio performances of the band playing some of their best known hits; rare and classic Queen interview footage, and a host of other features, all interspersed with the independent review and criticism from a panel of esteemed experts. These include; the broadcaster, journalist and long time friend of Freddie Mercury, Paul Gambaccini; rock author, journalist and Queen expert, Malcolm Dome; guitarist and journalist Simon Bradley; contributing editor from Uncut Magazine, Nigel Williamson; ex Melody Maker features editor Chris Welch, among many other contributors. The Rainbow concerts will never be released in such low profile...........nah Tom |

most likely a pirate release |
BETA215 13.04.2014 03:14 |
If this pirate release contains some unknown/wanted footage, would be good. Even a full concert (existing in best quality or new unknown concert) as a bonus. But I don't think it will happen. Basically, It would put more pressure on Queen about 70's. "This is a Region 1 DVD. It will not play in a DVD player from Argentina." Ok :( |

Ok :(I agree, but they must get permission from QPL otherwise they can't include unknown/wanted footage, IMHO ! If concert, my 5 cent for hammy'75. |

Well i would not worry about this silly dvd release because it does not play on uk dvd players! I think the dvd will contain clips that we have seen time and time again! money for old rope! |

One mouse click and it will works on any dvdplayer =) |

Why would a GERMAN company publish a R1 DVD? It's more likely to be unregionalised with just the packaging stating it's R1. |

You obviously don't love Queen or anything they've done in the last 20+ years. You just love Freddie. It's silly that you spend so much time here if you have nothing constructive to offer.. |

i went on to ebay and this new Queen Dvd is concert footage along with interviews from the 1970s. it is however a region 1 dvd and may not play in many peoples dvd players so caution there! Some suppliers are offering the dvd with a complimentary cd as well. |
gerry 23.05.2014 11:04 |
Real Wizard: i do love Queen 100% but i am sick and tired of crap merchandise that gets released. sorry for been negative, but its about time fans got something decent to watch on dvd. The 2 best things that have actually been released in the last 20 years are "Queen on Fire" Dvd and "Live at Wembley" Dvd. Queen fans are badly treated and not like Beatles Fans who get some great packages most years. |
Queenfansunite 23.05.2014 11:10 |
That Magic Moments title really does not connect to Queen kind of magic It is a Shame they chose that title as it reminds me of old time music for pensioners in a coma. Perry Como Magic moments Magic moments When two hearts are carin' Magic moments Memories we've been sharin' Which reminds me of that morecombré and wise comedy entrance Brian and Roger did At that awards ceremony when they stumbled out from behind the scenery in rain macs looking like 2 pensioners looking confused as to where they were , and walking down that endless stage with their shopping bags. That was hilarious! I think they got some tips from Al Murray for that. |

looks totally like a 3rd rate doco - possibly with no queen music, but songs that are so similar but not infringing.... ive seen plenty of these kinda things at the warehouse (like kmart / walmart / tescos) for the likes of led zep and kiss. at best it could be tv interviews and not just some guy who once passed john at a hotel toilet. |

i have ordered my copy of the new Queen dvd, so will be interested to see if it is repeats of what i have already seen. Queens 70s performances are lacking in our collections and this ought to be addressed promptly! |
gerry 19.06.2014 07:51 |
I just got a copy of this new Queen Dvd today and i must warn you all, it is a rip off because whats happened is its only had the front cover and title changed, and this Dvd was released a number of years ago under the title: Queen under review 1973 - 1980. i am utterly disgusted at getting ripped off and companies should not get away with changing dvd titles. So if you expect a wonderful dvd of Queen in the 1970s forget it as most of the dvd is talking. |
