Well, better safe than sorry. I got decent (not great) tickets for the MSG show but I will continue to look for upgrades and maybe resell the ones I just got. I'm in Section 106, Row 7. |

My wife purchased two second level tickets at MSG for her and a friend......after being on line at the start, using two computers, for the final concert in Columbia to get tix for the two of us. Only lawn seats were available, as the pavilion was already sold out!?!?!? Which is fine with us......but, seriously, that many brokers had the code? |

I'm so laughing at the naysayers who said the sales for this concert were going to be unsuccessful. They sold out in 5 minutes in Philly. Have to get separate seats in some locations because of the demand. Queen is NOT dead in the USA! |

It's nice to get satisfaction out of being proven right, but taking ticket sales as the evidence to prove the merits of this collaboration is just as one-sided as denouncing it purely because of the singer. A part of the problem that Queen fans have with Adam Lambert is his solo success. While it helps to boost the ticket sales, it's also going to change how the group appears in public. In the 80's Queen were lucky when Freddie failed with his solo career, and they were forced to continue as they were. Now Brian & Roger are deliberately bringing in a solo star to improve their public appeal, and it's going to draw attention away from the band. In the long run that isn't going to help the band, but I guess they are more interested the next quarter just like any other business. |
The Real Wizard 10.03.2014 13:16 |
Interesting interpretation. Methinks Bri and Rog are thinking long term, trying to reach the next generation of fans... and doing it with someone with some street cred isn't a bad idea. That said, Lambert's career isn't exactly booming right now, so maybe they both need each other a bit. Either way, judging by today's ticket sales this tour is going to be a commercial success. Whether or not it'll be an artistic success is to be determined.. |

Whether or not it'll be an artistic success is to be determined..Boger's definition of "long-term" is riding on the coattails of their previous success AND appearing with trendy artists at the same time... Nothing proves it better than the endless versions of Queen+XXX performing We Will Rock You. The only problem with their plan is that artists are only appearing with Queen once they are on their way down. Ticket sales in general are a really bad indicator of anything other than... ticket sales. Which aren't even that indicative if you remember just how huge a market the USA is. The USA has a population 58 times that of Finland, and 300,000 tickets sold in the USA equals to 5,000 tickets (or 1/3 of an arena) in Finland. |
The Real Wizard 10.03.2014 15:32 |
Not sure if that's a fair comparison, since they wouldn't book 20 arena dates in Finland since there is obviously not enough population (nor arenas) to fill them up. |

Just bought two floor seats for Philadelphia so it most definately didn't sell out in 5 minutes. I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if this is a sell out tour, despite what Ticketmaster and other websites seem to indicate very early. |

A real star has no problems in selling 50,000 tickets in Finland, and that's almost 1% of the population. For that same 1%, Queen+AL would have to sell out a hundred arena dates in the USA (as opposed to 9). Or how about a comparison between USA and Canada? The are on the same tour, and they have an almost equal amount of dates. Does 9 arena dates (and 3 casino dates) in the USA still sound like a lot when there are 7 arena dates in the Canada? |

I think it's fairly plain why Bri & Rog chose Adam for their live shows over Marc Martel. It's nothing to do with vocal ability, per se, they're both quite capable. Marc Martel is a fantastic imitator and works well in the context of QE, doing his best FM impersonation. He's comfortable with that much. Adam Lambert is not. Adam finds his own bodily rhythm to present on stage, tweaks the style in his own way, improvises a bit with the vocal lines. Love 'em or hate 'em, that's what Bri & Rog keep saying in the interviews is that AL is not impersonating; he's giving things his own twist (however subtle at times, or whether or not appreciated by fans). My two cents. |

Unfortunately, since a hierarchy of A-H sections precede it, it looks as if I'm at the front of the back floor. Lambert is clearly the best popular music singer the world has ever heard since Freddie Mercury".[242] Just read that on wikipedia........ |

For simplicity, you can assume Persia = Iran. But it's more of an ethnic group than a geographic region. Persians are not Arabs (two different cultural groups), but Persians can be Muslims (a religious belief). The Persian reach extended quite far in the time of antiquity, to Anatolia (Turkey) and India. The Persian empire was huge (reigns of Darius, etc.) but has been invaded by Greeks, Arabs, Turks and Mongols throughout it's long history. Prior to the ninth century, Persia probably represented the height of enlightenment in terms of math and science, especially with the western world immersed in the dark ages (an effect of the Catholic church that turned Europe into armed camps and villages for almost 1000 years). The Zoroastrian religion was a major force in Persia for a long time, but has been on the decline for centuries. I believe Freddie's family considered themselves Zoroastrian. |

Uh, somewhat to the topic of ticket sales. I am one who would attend a Western state concert if I could afford. I have a skinny budget which allows for scant entertainment if I am careful and dont buy fancy expensive food. The soonest I could purchase a ticket is May and by that time, tickets will be unaffordable. So, for those who can afford the tickets, enjoy the concerts and please take good videos of them. Thank you in advance. |

You had the nerve to point out about a person crying in her beer when it was explained to you and others why and for very good reasons that person is unable to attend a show. Yet you have the f*king gall to come here and play the victim in front of a whole other board. Grow the f*k up. |

No one is playing the victim here. It was a joke, BV, because that person was saying that there probably weren't going to be any shows in their part of North America and it turns out that there are 6 of them. It is fine for that person to join in the daily mocking and belittling of others, but becomes a more than super sensitive victim if anyone TEASES them back. Yes, TEASES about crying in their beer! Don't you think it is even more juvenile to stalk people all over the Internet to see what they are posting? No one is talking about you here or anywhere. It is about the QAL shows this summer. There are some very good conversations going on over there until the troublemakers intervene and derail it! Whew! 101 pages and counting! By the time I get back there, it will probably be over 500! Brush up on your comedic skills then or quit it with the comments like that about other posters. I think an apology is in order if you ever post there again. It was explained why a show wasn't possible. I can tell you so want to start posting again. Stalking? LOL. This is a public board. One which you cannot help but go into great detail about things that happen on another board. |
SweetCaroline 23.03.2014 13:43 |
If that person has valid reasons why she cannot attend a show then she should stop saying that she would never attend a show with Adam Lambert as the front man and that she doubted they would do a show near where she lived as if she could possibly attend if it was only Brian and Roger doing all of the singing. I didn't hear any specific reasons mentioned recently why she couldn't attend and it was possible that those previous reasons from two years ago had changed. No, I do not play a victim, but that person constantly plays the victim with every post by EVERYONE, even when it is NOT directed to her (which is most of the time). Look in the mirror, BV, you are projecting onto me and onto others what you yourself are doing! I'm truly sorry if you are unable to attend any of the QAL shows this year, but as you have said so many, many times, even if you could, you wouldn't! I'm finished with this conversation here, there and everywhere, so stop stalking me! There will be no apology because that person has hurt ME more than I have ever hurt HER. |

Yupper, you got that one right (although no one's ever disputed that, as is plain to see on the words quoted throughout this mish-mash). I'm happy to see we might now be on the same page, at least with regards to Glee, if not in regards to Queen, since lol, no, Queen is not covering Queen, and therefore neither is their frontman - Adam. |

I feel sorry for poor Brian and Roger, in particular, especially since they're original members of the group and Freddie's gone, and John's retired. I mean I know Freddie's estate is managed by JB, and it's all hunky dory with him, and I know John has a say in all activities of the band, since he still gets his share, but still, that's not as though those two have given the band Queen approval to continue performing, right? Or did they? I'm still a little confused. Poor Brian and Roger, reduced to doing covers of Queen. You're right, it's very sad indeed. Deary me. P.S. I did say that Glee is covers, right? I mean that's all Glee does - covers - so I'm pretty sure that's exactly what I said above (because I'd look pretty stupid claiming something's a cover when it's not, or isn't a cover when it is, right?). Let me go back and check. Oh yeah, here it is: "Do you mean when he's acting on Glee, where all the actors sing covers? No, you don't mean that, right, because that's the *character* Elliot Gilbert singing covers, not the *actor* Adam Lambert." Yup, covers, that's what the actors on the television show Glee do. Adam is not or ever will be the frontman for Queen. No, I know you didn't say anything about Brian and Roger doing covers of Queen, but that's the logical conclusion of your argument, so you're sort of stuck with it. Because you can't separate out Adam from Queen, since they're billed as Queen + Adam Lambert, right? So it's Adam fronting Queen, doing Queen's music. If Adam's covering Queen, so is Queen covering Queen, ergo Brian and Roger are covering Queen. Poor Brian and Roger. On the other hand, If Queen isn't covering Queen, then neither is Adam, as the band's frontman. Ipso facto. Also, poor Adam, reduced to fronting Queen. Whatever will he do? See, this is what happens to all karaoke cover singers - they end up fronting for legacy bands in full arenas. It's a very sad thing. And what's worse is what's awaiting him when he's finished with these handful (okay, a couple dozen) of arena events. More acting, more recording, more singing, more royalties... Pretty cool that most arenas are sold out, with maybe only 3-4 left at 80-95% - and that's with expanded sections added to most! They must be raking in the dough on this event! I seriously wonder if they will add some venues in the southeast, like Miami or Atlanta. Not that I wish for folks down there to miss it, but if they were to add additional venues, I'd by far prefer to see them in S. America, Europe, and/or Asia, with the last one(s) in the UK. It doesn't sound like that's likely though, between Adam's schedule and tour/travel logistics. It would be much easier to add on a circuit south of Maryland at the end. I really don't think it's likely, though - they've already got a very tight schedule, and I imagine it would be pretty hard on Roger and Brian, esp. on Brian's knee. I guess the southern folks are gonna have to take a road trip. Only a few more hours now until the email goes out on the next announcement - can't wait to see if it is indeed additional dates at the Mohegan Sun and in Jersey. Keep your fingers crossed that Chris Christy doesn't set up a traffic jam for those poor folks in Jersey! |

Yee-Haw - 'Due to overwhelming demand' five new dates (and 3 new cities) have been added! P.S. I am seriously beginning to get a bit worried for Brian and Roger. This looks like a very fatiguing schedule, with 24 dates packed into less than 6 weeks. Adam's younger, and his vocal chords seem to stand up to a lot of stress (he did >120 concerts in a very short time without any vocal problem when he toured his first album), but Brian's knee surgery is so recent. Hopefully between Ibuprofen and adrenaline all will be well. |

To be honest, though, I have no idea if Netflix carries Glee - haven't looked for that one yet. I'm currently watching the episodes of an old tv show from the late 80's - Beauty and the Beast with pre-Hellboy Ron Perlman and post-Terminator Linda Hamilton.. Soooo romantic! Up next is Breaking Bad - I know it's fantastic because everyone I know loves it, but I've never seen a single ep! Yet. Where will it all end? And now look, he's had to diversify into acting, just in case his singing job doesn't hold up. Deary me, shouldn't his 15 minutes of fame have been up long ago? It's very hard for a fan of Adam's to watch this horrendous downward slide into obscurity. Very hard. Deary me." Oh stop it, TapTap. You probably have your VCR/DVR set to record Glee every week. What's a VCR? I have one word for you, my friend: Netflix. Someone puts up all the Adam parts of each Glee ep on a Vimeo file, and I have those. He's fantastic on the show! Here are the ones from Frenemies and Trio: http://vimeo.com/87638616 http://vimeo.com/88227602 |

Money doesn't grow on trees, but yeah, I consider $8/month or $96/year as fairly minimal (in this day and age) in exchange for what you get, which is on-demand viewing of a lot of movies and tv shows. I compare that to my other monthly expenditures - rent, phone, cable, utilities, insurance, car maintenance, groceries, etc. and it comes up pretty favorably, and doesn't impact my budget, really at all. It's also a pretty small component of the overall monthly entertainment line item in my budget (I budget like a fiend!). It's convenient and inexpensive, and that's a pretty good trade off for not of the highest digital quality. Now the flip side is that I really don't know how comprehensive their library is. I've only had it for 2 months, and I don't use it all that often - like I said, I'm still watching eps from one very old television show. I guess I'll find out eventually if I'm successful at pulling up whatever interests me at any given time. I compare it to smokers. If they haven't switched to e-cigs, they're probably paying $8-10 per *pack*! And god knows how much their monthly budget is for something that could actually kill them! I think my measly $8/month expense is pretty good by comparison, all in all. |
