Dear All,
I'm totally new to this forum and I have joined, as it was suggested by Barry Moorhouse of House Music/BMG. I'm looking for any advice you may be able to given me on where to sell my Brian May Super guitar.
Please forgive this post, if it's inappropriate. I only use this outlet as the guitar is such a specialiality and likely to appeal best to those that know what it is. Such people are a relatively limited cohort and you guys probably know who they are.
Many thanks. I got a PM with the same suggestion, so I'm guessing it's the way to go.
I think I noted some else talking about need administrator access to this forum. I've registered with the site, but having trouble getting into the forum section. Is this a common problem?
I live in the UK and, after taking advice from Barry Moorhouse, he suggested that I should ask for £3k. However, the guitar is not perfectly mint, as I have scratched the front in one place (too embarrassing to describe how, as it wasn't exactly 'rock n roll'!), so would consider a slight discount on this. If I get comments suggesting this is high, the rationale is; despite the new Supers becoming available, the laquered neck of the KZ made Super is a collectable feature and I understand the total run of the KZ Supers was only between 30-50. I also don't need to sell the guitar, so I have no need to compromise. I am considering selling it, for the right price, as I have a wonderful guitar collection and the Super doesn't get played anymore. I realise my timing is lousy, as BMG have just released the Czech Super....story of my life!!!
You should still be able to sell it, but I doubt anyone will pay £3k, the new ones are coming out at £2950, and £3k is an increase on the original purchase price, that being said folk do value the KZ version.
I would say you will be more likely looking at £2,500, if you are up for that you will almost certainly sell it.
Good luck
I'll have to have a look when I get home. With me, I've got close ups of the scratch, but it's not good marketing for those photos to be the first I post!!!
Chaps, I just wanted to close out the thread, in case everyone thought I was a flake once asked for pictures.
I'd be happy to provide pics if people are curious as to the damage. However, I joined red-special.com and read a few of the forum articles, then played my Super again and have decided to keep it!! My kids are delighted, as they love it....they even named it, 'Betty'!! No idea why.
Oh, and for the record, I dropped a steak knife off a plate, onto the guitar - how rock and roll is that? Could ahve been a butter knide I suppose!!
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
