part one of decoding the march of the black Queen.
This is an interesting idea
This guy is making a rock opera based upon march of the black queen
his interpretation is narrow and he defined the lead character in a kind of rocky horror sense, as a transexual.
but it sounds to me it would be far more interesting than the we will rock you thing
and could be as good as the rocky horror picture show if it was ever produced with the right amount of strong characters , story ,images and songs?
i say songs , as i think you would have to extend the actual music beyond just the one song in order to make something out of it into a rock opera with a full story.
His interpretation is laughable to be honest
i do not agree with it at all
he is too sex focussed
like the name Queen itself, it was chosen because it has far more scope and interpretation to it , than just one meaning, it spoke of regality and royalty as well as just sexual things.
In the same way i think the thematic use of A Queen in the march of the black Queen , and using her as the central figure , was to expand the grandeur and scope of the whole epic sound of the track.
the idea of a Queen and the dark theme of blackness lends itself to the grande importance of the song, it is an epic sounding song and was purposely created that way.
So Rather than the meaning being confined so narrowly to some sex fantasy to do with a straight Prince being seduced by a outrageous transexual.
I think that the interpretation of the song and it characters and story, has far greater possibilities other than just a sexual narrative. and if you were going to make a rock opera out of it, it would be a waste just to solely use a sexual idea for the plot.
you could use sex but not only sex.
for a start he gets the beginning opening lines totally wrong
as
do you mean it do you mean do you mean it?
he is right about the importance of those words and why they are repeated
but then he gets it all wrong and misses an obvious point.
why don't you mean it?
and why do i follow you?
and where do you go?
he misses the meaning of that part totally
as it is talking about a whole history
of devotion and a questioning at to where its all going to lead in the end.
what is the purpose of following you and where are you going with it all?
is what the character is asking.
it is not about as he puts it to mean
the character is then being led to some dark place to get annually raped! LOL!!
