I wasn't exactly a fan of his although I do see his talent/appeal. That super bowl performance was good. I admit I'm a fan of Motown and some pop music. To be honest my musical taste goes all over the place. Didn't care for Michael Jackson too much (except for a couple of his tunes). Mars and RHCP was um..well, that was definitely interesting.
Pop music has always had their good shared of manufactured acts with good looks and poor talent, but now more than ever pop music has become so much more about the visual aspect, the sex appeal and good looks has taken over completely, Music is pretty much ignored in pop nowdays to the point that it has become laughable.
That being said Bruno Mars is a class act and perhaps the only hope that brings a sense of respect for a genre that has been ruined by superficiality.

i found it more interesting trying to guess when PM's famed "big occasion gag-reflex" would kick in....really didn't hink it'd be first play of the game...hit in the head and all....follow it up with two INTs and a couple of fumbles...hysterical.
PM really is Mr Choketastic

Well put.
Myself, I was blown away. Respect to Bruno Mars. Many reviewed him as being a young James Brown. His command of the stage was that good. And thank christ he can sing.

esp when put into context that the RHCP weren't even "plugged in" - seems an most of their "appearance" was only live in that they were actually physically there...and had instruments in their hands - but no cables/plugs lol Flea:"Given they only have a few minutes to set up the stage, there a zillion things that could go wrong and ruin the sound for the folks watching in the stadium and the TV viewers."
When the band joined Bruno Mars on stage during the show, singer Anthony Kiedis' vocal was live but Flea, Klinghoffer and drummer Chad Smith played along with the backing track. In his online statement, Flea added that the band didn't feel the need to plug in their instruments because: "We thought it better to not pretend."
