Two interesting things on Brian's soap box today. Firstly obviously it's great news that he is clear of cancer and can now move forward, and secondly that he and Roger are working on an as yet unheard Queen track with all four on. I also note that he makes reference to the fact that no 'clever dick' STOLE the rough mix and leaked it.... So yet again I think it confirms my views on how some if not many of these things reach the general public. Why do people feel the need to do this? if they are in a place of trust why fuck it up for everyone by stealing the property of others? I hate bootlegs, I never buy them and never listen if they come online, I don't wish to give people the market for stolen work. I'm sure the shit that broke into my house years ago and stole my video recorder managed to sell it for £50... I hope the person that bought it had many happy hours using stole property ... Rant over |

Great news indeed. I also understand his frustration with people stealing these tapes... But hopefully there is more tracks like this in the archive - entirely new, never leaked online... Looking forward to it. |

Hangman.......but, oh, that's right - Queen didn't record it, did they Brian? |
jondickens1 14.01.2014 05:39 |
I also noted Brian descriptive word for working on the tracks. "Archeology". Great title for an album IMO. |

These tracks that suddenly appeared, could they have been discovered when Roger was going thru the archives for The Lot ? Some stuff was found on a dusty shelf in his garage apparently ! |

Will be a New Dark Ages version finally?..Long ago I heard about driven by you too,,but i think it was a rumour.. |

EDWOOD 14.01.2014 10:36 |
I always thought that Greg Brooks had fully categorised all the Queen archives from the late 1990s onwards? Wasn't there some talk in an interview with him or someone else (I can't recall where exactly) where it was stated that there was around 4,000 tapes of archive Queen material collated since he became the archivist. I would have thought any really interesting stuff would have been shown to members of QP years ago but maybe not. Maybe Brian and/or Roger have their own archive collections kept separate from the main stuff. I think its inevitable that there will be ALOT of unheard demo tracks, alternate takes, etc that no-one, not even this Fanthology has heard. It can't all have leaked out over the years can it? I just hope some of the rumours are true that there is a multitude of unreleased tracks stored there. I do like the idea floated for example, that 'The Game' initially was to be a double album with one album mainly of the older classic Queen sound and the other the more experimental, 'funky' new 80s sound Queen started around this time. Well, something for us all to look forward to then for 2014! |
Kevinrm15 14.01.2014 10:52 |
EDWOOD, to answer a couple points of yours: Yes, Brian & Roger have their own archives. I know Brian recorded all the shows from 1974 onwards, but they're not all in the QPL vault. GT confirmed on here a while back that The Game was NEVER intended to be a double album. |

Great news indeed. Brian can finally relax and work his magic in the studio. The only thing we know is that the track is over 30 years, and Brian is excited about it. At least we now know that John will be in the new Queen project. Great year for Queen once again. After this health scare of Brian, i'm going to enjoy every moment of this new chapter in the Queen world. |
andyb1968 14.01.2014 11:10 |
Roger did mention in an interview that he discovered tapes in his garage, probably where the idea for a box set came from. |

Plus that's a little like saying if hadn't owned a video recorder it would have negated the need for some shit to break into my house and steal it. Just because they have something doesn't mean they have to release it if they felt it wasn't good enough |

This is very promising news. I'm relieved that the track isn't 1991 Freddie humming an unfinished idea he was never able to complete. It's nice to know that they have a 30 year old track to clean up, add finishing touches to, and release. Very happy that John is on these tracks. I can't wait to find out what else they've been working on. We've heard the stories of the band recording (pick your number) songs from The Game and The Miracle sessions, perhaps they'll make the cut? Whatever they have, I hope these songs, sans the Michael Jackson songs, will feature all four members. |

Freedom Train is a song by Roger Taylor. Is indeed a song sung by Roger, but it that doesn't mean anything. Does Heaven for Everyone ring a bell? Sung by Freddie, with The Cross and yes indeed with Queen. But guess what? Roger also recorded Heaven For Everyone, he even released it as a single.... Besides Roger had the intention to "give" Freedom Train to Queen.... |
