From the press release at Queenonline: With a juggernaut career spanning six decades, Taylor was the beating heart of Queen, penning massive hits ‘Radio Ga Ga’, ‘A Kind of Magic’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’. He also enjoyed success across the globe with accomplished solo material which reached the heights in the UK charts. 6 Decades??? The beating Heart of Queen??? Success around the Globe with Solo Material??? Did I miss something? |
cmsdrums 11.10.2013 08:26 |
6 decades is right - he released a single with Smile in the 60s: 60s 70s 80s 90s 00s 10s I'm more frustrated about the press release mentioning nothing about what bonus material will be included |

What's the point of not telling us the final tracklist of The Lot? I hope any page like Amazon, HMv or similar put it ASAP |
RS_Protos 11.10.2013 10:14 |
"What's the point of not telling us the final tracklist of The Lot? " Sounds like there won't be extra's, i really hope I'm wrong: "The Lot comprises of Roger’s solo albums Fun In Space (1981), Strange Frontier (1984), Happiness? (1994), Electric Fire (1998) and Fun On Earth, as well as the three albums by his band The Cross - Shove It (1988), Mad, Bad And Dangerous To Know (1990) and Blue Rock (1991). Although he was known for enjoying the rock’n’roll lifestyle, Fun On Earth and the breadth of The Lot perfectly showcases Taylor’s versatility and veracious appetite for hard work." |

Yes, i hope you're wrong. Anyway that description says titles for 8 discs, but in other places we have seen how the package "has" 12 CD and 1 DVD, and that description doesn't say anything of the DVD |

just wondering.....how many sets will be sold worldwide if they don't use the words Radio GG and drummer of Queen......f.e.!! The beating heart Of Queen...don't make me laugh....shame on you!! There was only one beating heart!! Again QP is doing his best to (mis)use the name of Queen to make as many profit as possible!! What will they say when May will release his material again? 'The magical crystal clear 2nd voice of Queen?' |

So the release date has been put back for Fun On Earth for another two weeks. This could be a sign that it is total crap.I hope that i am wrong,i really do.The Lot just remains a mystery, are the solo ,Cross albums even remastered ?Are there any bonus discs ? How many?Whats on them ?Fuck knows ! I know one thing for sure that The Lot is going to be hellish expensive ! I pre ordered Fun On Earth with Amazon this week with a release date of 28th October.Might just cancel my order.Fuck em,RMT is dissapearing up his own arse and lets face it both he and Brian have been living off Freddies legacy for bloody years. |

This forum is without doubt generally negative so I understand why this guy wants to leave. There are certain long term posters who only contribute to topics if there is an opportunity to attack Brian May, Queen productions or naive first time posters who dont have English as their first language. If its something positive theres no comment. A new Roger Taylor album alone is a definite positive, even without the box set. And Roger is unlikely to make any money out of it. |

Three weeks before its release and no contents announced yet. How kind is that. Perhaps we, the hardcore fans who are the only ones buying this, are bad bad boys who don't deserve to know what we are getting until the box is finally released and we finally learn the contents in the actual shop. Sometimes we, the fans, are not threated like the good customers we are. On thursday 10th, we have been promised "full details tomorrow" and we only got a track list already spreaded all over the web, including Amazon. As of today, 18th, we still know nothing, apart from some clues that some kind fans had to deduce from the Amazon.ca zoomed picture. This is great. |

Looking at the tracklist on the picture above, both RT extra discs seem to have 17 tracks. The first disc has My Country as artwork, the second has Pressure On. Let's see. 1. I Wanna Testify 2. Turn On The TV 3. My Country 4. Man On Fire (Extended Version) 5. I Cry For You (Remix) 6. Strange Frontier (Extended Mix) 7. I Cry For You (Extended Mix) 8. Two Sharp Pencils (Get Bad) 9. Nazis 1994 (Radio Mix) 10. Nazis 1994 (Kick Mix) 11. Nazis 1994 (Schindler's Mix) 12. Nazis 1994 (Makita Mix) 13. Nazis 1994 (Big Science Mix) 14. I Want To Break Free (Live) 15. Everybody Hurts Sometime (Live) 16. Old Friends (Live) 17. Foreign Sand (Single Version) 18. Final Destination That's 18 b-side tracks up to, but not including Pressure On. Now, as the video for Nazis is apparently not included on the DVD, let's assume RT has had a change of heart about all the Hitler audio/video. Drop the Nazis mix with the Hitler-samples, you've got 17 tracks. Now, onto disc 2. 1. Pressure On (Single Edit) 2. People On Streets (Mashed) 3. Tonight (Dub Sangria) 4. Keep A Knockin' 5. Surrender (Radio Mix) 6. A Nation Of Haircuts (Club Cut) 7. London Town - C'mon Down (Single Mix) 8. Surrender (Live) 9. No More Fun (Live) 10. Tonight (Live) 11. Woman You're So Beautiful (Main Mix) 12. Woman You're So Beautiful (Dance Hall Mix) 13. Woman You're So Beautiful (Mad Mix) 14. The Unblinking Eye 15. The Unblinking Eye (Almost Completely Nude) 16. Dear Mr Murdoch 2011 17. ? Disc 3 seems to have 16 tracks and has the Shove It artwork: 1. Cowboys And Indians (Single Edit) 2. Love Lies Bleeding (She's A Wicked, Wily Waitress) 3. Shove It (Extended Version) 4. Shove It (Metropolix) 5. Heaven For Everyone (RT Vocals) 6. Feel The Force 7. Manipulator 8. Manipular (Extended Version) 9. Power To Love (7" Version) 10. Power To Love (Extended Version) 11. Liar (7" Version) 12. In Charge Of My Heart 13. Liar (12" Version) 14. In Charge Of My Heart (Extended Version) 15. ? 16. ? Put It All Down To Love (Single Version) 6. Heartland 7. ? 8. ? 9. ? 10. ? 11. ? So, I guess that maybe we'll get 8-10 surprises? |

I'm not expecting anything new either, just hope that it's really complete. No cutting corners by only including the Extended Version of Manipulator and not the original version etc. But seeing as they didn't even include the Future Management/I Wanna Testify footage... You'd expect the first ever solo tv-appearance, promoting the first solo 7" would be reason enough to include it in a box...? |

Well. If that's the tracklisting of the 4 "singles" CDs, it's no wonder they've not published it officially yet. Barely anything of interest there at all sadly. I'd hoped for at least a CD full of unreleased stuff, but it doesn't look like it. Not even official releases of the unreleased tracks that have leaked in the last decade :( I can only hope that everything HAS been newly remastered (nicely) otherwise it'll be an even bigger disappointment. |

But I cannot find anywhere in the UK where I can actually pre-order it from. im not risking the US music sites in case I get stung for tax. This is going to look perfect sitting right next to my Freddie Mercury Box Set :) And I so want it...but I just cant find it.... |
cmsdrums 21.10.2013 14:14 |
Having pre order available in the UK for Fun On Earth but not The Lot, when they are out on the same day, is simply ludicrous. We've seen pictures of the final set so it must be ready? Or perhaps those are original early promo versions, and our debates of the last month or so have brought to light some glaringly obvious omissions in the tracklisting that were overlooked by the archive team. I do honestly sincerely hope this is not the case, but have suggested this in a very tongue in cheek manner here before and GT did nothing to refute this - the lack of tracklisting and any prominent mention of The Lot in the official press release sadly does nothing to alay my fears. |

I had luck to pre-order the boxset on it's first day of appearence at Amazon.de for only 110 € , meanwhile it's up to 135 €. Today I got an e-mail from Amazon with confirmation that the boxset will arrive on the day of release.... |

To OUZY: "regular" shipping to UK is only 3,25€, but if the article has a special in weight etc... it "may" (...) be more You can do a test/fake order so you can see how much shipping will be. Then cancel the order before the final "click". But it's also absolutely no problem to cancel a realized order at Amazon....did that man times before when I pre-ordered but later changed my decision.. |

Well sometimes it is a sticker and sometimes they printed it as part of the artwork. I'm just glad they're only putting out one version of The Lot. Was really afraid that they would put out a budget variant containing only the albums and then a deluxe with the bonus-discs + DVD. And yes, I'll buy the separate Fun On Earth release as well. Wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that Electric Fire is the last RT album on the CD-shelf. |
Ron 27.10.2013 03:44 |
:D My pleasure! Well don't worry, I'm not the same Ron as I was ie 10 years ago when I bought anything that was Queen & related. I wont be buying the new ANATO on bluray, didnt bought any dvd releases in the past 10 years or the Wembley re-re-re-releases for instance. But I typically still buy all diff formats of a new album or single release (ie standard cd, deluxe cd, lp, box). But this is not just related to QP. Many other artists and labels do this as well. Just look at McCartney's latest album which was released as a cd, deluxe cd and will be on vinyl soon. Or Bowie's album from earlier this year; cd, deluxe cd, 2lp, 2lp on red vinyl and soon there will be a 2cd/dvd release. Ofcourse I also had to buy the Japanese cd back then for the exclusive bonus track :) |

The only downside with the way they've packaged this set is that IF the albums have been remastered and sound better than the ones we currently have, then I'll have to do the same as I did with the Freddie box and copy the discs onto CDR's which I can pull off the shelf to listen to. I certainly won't be opening this box set every time I want to listen to an album. |

Plus, it depends the way that it will be displayed. On Freddie's box you had to take out the actual book from its box. Not comfortable. Perhaps "The Lot" will be more like a traditional book and therefore easier to manage. Btw, I wonder if "Fun On Earth" will be remastered too. ;-) |

It still gave me an estimated delivery date of: Thursday, November 14, 2013 - Saturday, November 16, 2013 QOL price is still £100 plus delivery. It's still more than I paid for the FM box set when I pre-ordered that, but I suppose it's a bit more of a reasonable price all things being considered. It could possibly come down a bit more. I still think it's overpriced when compared to the Harry Nilsson 17 disc box set at £54 |

What exactly hidden under the phrase: "We did the best possible job we could..." if 'The Lot' book even doesn't include details about the tracks. What does GB do all working-day long if he didn't find the time or desire to prepare proper information about each recording for the project? FM Box 2000 enthusiasm has gone? I'm sure there never was the situation like this: GB: I spent a lot of time in the archives making a research of all the recordings for 'The Lot' from the archives. Look, here is the result with all the details and some interesting notes about the tracks... RT (or someone responsible): Are you joking? No one needs it! Tracklist only is OK. And we don't need extra ten pages in the book. Go away, you fool. |

To be fair, he is the QUEEN archivist. Obviously it isn't his full-time job and he might be asked to do other stuff for Queen-related projects. If Roger Taylor asks him to compile a set of his solo recordings, it's a separate job with a separate budget. The fact that there was no quality control whatsoever means that Roger just didn't want to spend enough money on the project. |

I quiet like this album. The structure of some songs are a bit strange but overall it is a nice piece of work, much more organic - and probably inspired - than Cosmos Rocks. I have two remarks concerning the release of this album (which charted at no 69 in the UK for its first week) : - My first is the apparent lack of promotion, press and media coverage, reviews, etc. I seem to remember there were much more when Electric Fire went out. I Secundo, to my knowledge, no live execution of new songs by RT so far (again something he did during the promotion of Electric Fire). A shame ! I hope we'll hear some of this material live some day (although I guess we can forget about the small promotion tour, but I would love to be incorrect on this!), some of these songs could be pretty nice in live (Up! for instance) a+ |
