He has released 2 1/2 albums and a movie soundtrack. Hardly enough to necessitate a box.
Hopefully a Queen box will be next. The 1977 box mentioned by Rhys Thomas sounds like a good start.
Let's be realistic here...
The man has managed to record 2 albums worth of solo material over a period of 30 years. Maybe at one point (in the early 90's) he wanted to have a solo career, but currently he has far more interest in impressing young would-be-singers than releasing any material of his own.
The isn't going to be a box set of Brian May as long as he lives.

Doubt that such box as The 1977 will be someday.
... don't you forget the badger-songs !
but seriously... i don't see a brian box coming. which is rather sad because he did lots and lots of work with other artists. and there would be enough material for a box set, though. but it should be difficult for reasons of money to collect (buy/license) all of that stuff being gathered in one box that wouldn't be a top-seller.
I think he could easily release a mini box set, just as a reissue plus extras. He's got two and a half studio albums, a soundtrack and a live album from 1994. Not sure if the Kerry Ellis collaborations should be included... It's quite a different story to me. Also, let's not forget about other bits and pieces he recorded over the years, e.g. the Pinocchio songs, various cover versions released on tribute albums and other unreleased stuff, which there is bound to be. I think it would be enough to warrant a small set.
It's all about cost to collect and collate all the guest appearances he has done over the years. There seemed to be heaps of them when I checked. A new solo album, however unrealistic, would provide significant impetus to do this I think. Problem is Brian doesn't seem to think solo any more these days. I guess you could include the Kerry Ellis stuff too. I mean if you can include The Cross stuff in Roger's box set, I think it's reasonable to include that stuff too. But a new solo album would give the project a real sense of relevance and validity in my opinion.
If you milked it, you could have:
Starfleet Mini LP
Back To The Light
Another World
Furia
MacBeth soundtrack
All 'B Sides', and live released tracks
Live at the Albert Hall DVD/Blu Ray/CD
Anthems
Acoustic By Candlelight
Guest Appearances (Which would include a lot of tracks)
I'm not saying I would be in favour of this, but a box set could be stretched to I think.
I am happy over the fucking moon at the prospect of Roger's 'The Lot' box!!! :-)
Nah, there need to be more solo studio l.p.s both with Kerry Ellis and without before a box set is done. The live stuff could be put into its own box set at some point. But definitely more than one solo studio l.p. needs to be done before a box set.
I once created a boxed set of cd's with Queen's collaborations. Sure Brian is the one with the most collaborations on his name.
So don't say he is not a productive musician. He has recorded music all his life.
A BM box set would be a bit limited, but his two solo albums and Furia, the Starfleet album and a CD of the covers he recorded some of which remain unreleased prior to Another World and maybe some demos out takes etc. Plus the live at Brixton album and live at Brixton video and also the unreleased film of the Albert Hall gig on the Another world tour. This would make a nice complete set of his output.
It's a bit off topic, but I just realized by accident that the very old brian may webside for another world still is 'active'...great to see all the 'cooming soon' items... link

nice indeed. but the only interesting thing there seems to have been disappeared... the "home-video". i'm looking for that jam session for several years now... dammit.
otherwise... a BM-box... "coming soon"... *lol*
seriously? the most pointless thread ever started on this site. my reasoning?
the OP clearly does not use the same business mindset that the mad Doctor does....think about it
WWRY Musical - crass but obvious moneyspinner
crapborations - bad taste but appeal to new gen = money spinner
QE - chavtastic - will get the kids spending money= money spinner
Queen+AL = new gen fans = money spinner
re-releasing a boxset of three albums that completists will already have? where's the "new market" - not a money spinner in any way at all
all the OP had to think was this: If brian hasn't pushed the Queen Anthology - which'll be immeasurably more profitable a concept - trading off the queen name, then why try and sell a boxset of his own "hardly on the radar" solo stuff?
