AmI've just received my copy of the 'new' Freddy Mercury Tribute concert and am very very disappointed.
Firstly it isn't blu ray. The visuals seem to have been directly transferred from the original VHS release to a disc which is no better quality than DVD.
Secondly the sound is not improved at all!
Thirdly where are Robert Plant's version of Innuendo,Spinal Tap,Def Leppards full set,Extreme's More than words/Love of my life,U2 video etc?
The release is awful and Queen Productions have yet again let us down!!
I did have a look at this release but thought better and kept my money for another day.Anyway as i remember the concert but for George Michael all the other preformances on the day were bloody awfull.David Bowie with the Lords Prayer anyone ?! Paul Young destroying Radio Ga Ga !!Not to mention that Italian bloke who no one had ever heard of doing Las Palabras De Amor ! It was all just thrown together and pretty crap really.
Along with Kurgan, and many other die hard fans, I was also there and have to say that as I remember the concert, it was far from crap. Sure the odd performance here and there (Paul Young, Zucchero and a couple of others) weren't particularly great, however the overall spectacle, 6 or 7 hours of focus on Queen and in particular the emotions the day produced, for me it is up there as one of the greatest concerts I have ever witnessed - including Queen in their prime.
Not bought the Blu Ray yet (I have the double video set somewhere in the loft, but no player to play it on!) and interesting to here JonDickens1 comments - shame it doesn't feature all the performances, most of which as I say, I thought were pretty damn good.
The trackilst on the 2bluray set includes Metallica, def leppard, extreme bob geldof and guns n roses....
Have to say, haven't bought it, and probably won't
Why would you buy a concert release knowing it was "crap" anyways?
And buddy, Eagle Rock made a point to market it very clearly that it was an *SD* (Standard Definition* Blu-ray right from the start. High definition isn't the only resolution Blu-ray uses, you know!

The most unnecessary "Blue Ray" on the market. You are right Queen Productions strikes again ;)
Wrong. Try searching Blu-ray.com for the lowest rated reviews, this Blu-ray logically and factually can't even merit that honour. Besides, it's a huge step up from the last DVD release, which in in itself was a major step down from the original 1992 VHS/LD releases.
I personally liked the sound and the visuals were 'ok' for a standard definition source in terms of sharpness , just the the color was weak and the motion did not look 'fluid' like video tape does sadly ....
