Hi folks, haven't spent much time on this website lately as I have been going through a 'non-Queen phase', but I thought people on this forum might be interested in a little discovery I made. I was checking out a blog I sometimes read for fans of Pink Floyd. It made mention of a screening of Pink Floyd's 'Delicate Sound Of Thunder ' video being screened on something called 'Eagle Vision TV'. I presume Eagle Vision TV to be some kind of pay TV offshoot of the DVD label Eagle Vision, who have released a number of fine music DVD's (I am pretty sure this is the case, as the logo is the same). If you click on the link below, then scroll down the pdf document to page 11, you will see an ad for a screening of Queen: Live At The Rainbow. In particular, the tantalising words "lovingly restored and remastered" and "long awaited first official release" caught my eye. So maybe it's on the way! (My apologies if any of you knew this- I have been slightly out of the 'Queen loop' lately!) link |

Unfortunately for us, the leaflet is titled "New Releses Spring 2013". I would say this only proves that you can't trust a Queen release to make it into the stores until it's actually in the stores. As for the Rainbow show... It seems to have become yet another release in a (too long) series of announced and scrapped titles. |

Erik Viking wrote: Ask them enquiries@eagle-rock.comThat's not a bad idea- I hadn't scrolled to the bottom of the pdf or I would've seen their email address... What is also promising, is if you look at page 15 of the pdf document (headed 'Recent releases') and you will see that the Queen/FM releases listed (Hungarian Rhapsody: Live in Budapest, and 'The Great Pretender ') have BOTH been released on DVD! Pretty promising me thinks :-) |

So we now have proof that the Rainbow DVD WAS RELEASED in Spring 2013 but somehow we all missed it. I knew Queen's marketing was bad but not THIS bad. |

(Quote) "So... What's your point? We already know that those two releases have happened, and we know the Rainbow release didn't happen. I don't see anything promising in that" My point is: The items listed under the heading 'new releases Spring 2013' are those that are scheduled TO BE SCREENED on 'eagle vision TV' (which seems to be some kind of 'pay per view' TV channel). It is NOT a DVD RELEASE SCHEDULE for Eagle Vision. Therefore no scheduled release date has been given for 'Live At The Rainbow' and no promise to release it on DVD has been broken. I do not think it unreasonable to therefore speculate that the the DVD releases listed on page 15 (Hungarian Rhapsody: Live in Budapest, and FM: The Great Pretender) were at some point screened on 'Eagle Vision TV' prior to their release on DVD. I am going to email Eagle Vision to see what I can find out. |

And it's quite logical really. They cannot stream a product that doesn't exist. When you e-mail Eagle Vision, their response is going to be: Unfortunately for reasons beyond our control, the title you are interested in hasn't been released. At this moment we have no information when the title will be available The simple fact is that QP were promising a new title for Eagle Vision to release / stream in the spring, but it wasn't delivered. The title might be mentioned in a newsletter, but in no way does this confirm the actual release. I'm really sorry to say thins, but we still have absolutely no proof the release is ever going to happen. |

Eagle Vision TV it's not a pay-per-view channel or anything similar. It's just the TV division of Eagle Rock Entertainment that deals with distribuition to tv's around the world. This .pdf lists "for TV broadcast" releases. Not DVD/Blu-Ray releases. That's why it's called Eagle Vision TV, not Eagle Rock. Also, GB already sayd in April it was a mistake http://www.queenconcerts.com/queenzone/1341641.html "There is still no definite release date for this product. How could there be: it isn't finished yet. The Press release that sparked this, was merely something put together by Eagle Rock for promo which was put out, mistakenly, a good deal too early. Rainbow WILL happen, but not this Spring. I couldn't tell you when because I don't know. Nobody knows. But we have to finish it first, and obviously we will. It is not unprecedented for a Press Release to go out early, at the wrong time, accidentally, and/or for it to contain misinformation... such as that the Rainbow concerts were "filmed". They were NOT filmed, they were shot on 2" video tape. Hope that helps." |

I'm afraid I'll also have to take the stance that I'll believe Queen have released a product when I actually have it in my hands. Even then, it'll probably not be what it says on the tin.... |

This press-release is about TV releases, that's why it's called Eagle Vision TV. TELEVISION. Don't know why is it so difficult to understand the meaning of TV. And no, it wasn't broadcasted yet. Also, read my other post on this thread. Greg Brooks already sayd that it was a mistake. |

It doesn't matter that the Spring release date has passed. This find proves that the remastered version of The Rainbow gig exists and that there are plans to release it. Well done in finding this. I bet they held back to coincide with the release of the Michael Jackson/Queen duet "State of Shock" probably at Christmas. It could be one of the last releases with Freddie's voice on it, there isn't much material left. |
Thistle 24.08.2013 16:54 |
@SimonFerocious 1 - this "find" does not prove that a remastered version of Rainbow exists.....it was a premature listing, and was never broadcast. So far, there's no evidence of it happening at all. 2 - how did you hear the FM/MJ tracks would probably get a xmas release? 3 - There's TONNES of material with Freddie's voice on it that hasn't been released. |
