Does anyone know why WWRY London is only booking through 26 October? Most other West End shows advance their booking every few months and go well into 2014 by now. I've been trying to book tickets for November since April and it's still not available. I'm worried... :(
WWRY is launching a North American tour kicking off in Baltimore in October 2013. The rest of the tour schedule and cities have not been announced yet.
What this means for London performances I'm not sure as the show has been playing at the Dominion and is in it's 11th year.
Check the website under news to read the press release about the North American tour.
Theatre runs are often open ended, as in the case of WWRY. They just keep tagging on more dates as time goes on.
If a show is successful, it will keep running as WWRY has. But they only sell to a certain point into the future. It has nothing to do with whether or not the show is going to close - unless it's a touring show, which is almost always a finite run.
The US touring company is completely different from the London company. Even if the London show closed in September, it has nothing to do with the fact that a US tour is commencing in October.
Thanks... already knew about the North American tour, but as I will be in London in November I was hoping to see it again there (my 7th time!)... like I said, most shows are booking well into 2014 so I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything.
Thanks again!
Real Wizard is correct.
When the show first opened in London the Dominion was hired for six months, giving time to build the sets run production rehearsals etc. And run the show for five months plus previews. After that time when they were sure that ticket sales were good enough they hired the venue for a year and have done ever since. The year long contract is up in October every year, once a deal has been struck for the use of the venue for another year tickets will go on sale for November and in to next year. The contract for the Dominion is usually. Sorted in early august
