Hello all, I'm creating this post to have more organized all my "HD Revision" related stuff. Anyway, every album should have its corresponding post, this is more for news and new arriving albums. Now I upload them OneDrive but not making the link public. So, here you have them! Thank you! updating my collection! |
Vali 22.03.2013 04:35 |
Hey Matt ! I just discovered your posts and dwnloaded your ANATO, The Miracle and The Works revisions. Haven't listened to The Works yet, but have enjoyed very much The MIracle and, most specially, ANATO. Of course this is a very subjective task / work and there are certain details in your fixes that I don't like at all, but overall I'm really really enjoying it so much, because I'm discovering little bits I never noticed before ! Congratulations for all the hard work. Can't wait for the re-upload of The Game, wich I missed originally ! Sigue así, muy buen trabajo !! saludos Vali |
Vali 29.03.2013 19:39 |
Hi Matt ! hope your reuploading plan is still going on ! I so much want to listen to The Game, wich I missed when originally posted. Been enjoying ANATO, The Works and The Miracle a lot these days ! many tks again for your efforts ! brgrds Vali |
C_Matt 10.04.2013 14:44 |
Hi, Vali, I'm really sorry I couldn't answer you before. I'm working, studying and at least have some few hours for myself. I wasn't able to read even my Facebook till two days ago. I'm very happy to read that you liked the revisions. 'The Miracle' was the second I've done (the first was Jazz, which I might upload again too), but those two were more focused in correct some mistakes, noises and general sound. With 'The Works' I started working on a cleaner sound (with some subjetive adds), that's why in TM there's no big differences. 'The Game' was the next I've done, then ANatO, and now I'm with 'Hot Space'. For the first time, I felt I was getting the sound I really wanted to when I was finishing ANatO, so 'The Game' is better in my opinion, but with all the knowledge and expierence I've learned trought this 6 albums, I should do the past albums again to make some improvements I missed at that moment. I promise you I'll upload The Game tonight (in 6 or 7 hours) so you can listen and enjoy it. Again, sorry for this big delay and thank you very very much for your comments Vali! Muchas gracias ;) |
Vali 11.04.2013 02:31 |
Hola Matt ! first of all let me thankyou again for finding enough time in your busy agenda to reupload The Game ! it's a pitty the lack of time many of us have to suffer, sometimes I wish the days had 48h instead of 24h ! Can't wait listening to your work on The Game, I'm sure I will enjoy it so much ! (by the way, when you find a little more time to reupload it in FLAC / wav formay, I'll be triple-thankful !!) knowing that you're already working on Hot Space and planning to revisit some details of your previous works is great news ! te estoy muy agradecido, hacía mucho tiempo que no escuchaba estos albumes de Queen como si fuese la primera vez ! es genial descubir pequeños detalles que siempre habían pasado desapercibidos ! un saludo ! Vali |
Vali 14.04.2013 06:04 |
Having listened to The Game a few times now, I must say I am really really impressed, Matt !! loving too your own mixes: PTG with no fade out, the stripped mixes, etc etc .... well, everything in fact ! listening to your work is like listening to the work QPL should do with every album, releasing expanded editions of each one. Something we'll never see, by the way, but thanks to your effort this is the closer we get to that ! thanks a lot again, can't wait checking what you'll be delivering with Hot space ! cheers Vali |
C_Matt 23.04.2013 13:49 |
Thank you very much, Vali! I have "Hot Space" freezed by now, but what I've done so far sounds better to me. I hope soon I can upload "The Game" in FLAC share something from "Hot Space". Those are tasks which requieres some hours in a row to do it, and I didn't have the time till (hopefully) Thursday. Cheers! |
beatmichael 30.05.2013 22:54 |
Oh, my brother C_Mat... Where have you been? We are excitedly waiting for you to come back! Any news? |

beatmichael wrote: Oh, my brother C_Mat... Where have you been? We are excitedly waiting for you to come back! Any news?request seconded :) btw Matt, do you already have an idea of the extra-stuff you'll put in your Hot Space revision? Maybe the old well known demos? or the most recent Cool Cat share? thanks a lot ! |
C_Matt 02.06.2013 04:24 |
Beatmichael and Vali, I'm really sorry for the long delay. I created a post about Hot Space with three songs: link In that one I explain why this is taking so long. I wanted to finish it before May, but I couldn't. I was thinking about include the shared demos, but the quality is not so good, I'll evaluate it. The recent 'Cool Cat' share was great, and I thank a lot to the uploader. That will be in the complete upload I think. Might some stripped versions, hard to tell at this point. This is my current progress: 01. Staying Power WIP 60% 02. Dancer END 03. Back Chat WIP 95% 04. Body Language WIP 30% 05. Action This Day WIP 10% 06. Put Out the Fire WIP 60% 07. Life Is Real FCKD UP (Needs to be restarted) 08. Calling All Girls WIP 90% 09. Las Palabras de Amor WIP 90% 10. Cool Cat END 11. Under Pressure END 12. Soul Brother WIP 20% Thank you for the replies guys, it's nice to read them. Cheers! |
C_Matt 08.06.2013 00:39 |
I updated the main post, so check those three albums at SkyDrive. The progress will be updated periodically as I work with the album. Don't forget to download the document with all the changes. Cheers! |
Vali 08.06.2013 03:19 |
fantastic Matt ! thankyou so much for the update on Hot Space and also for uploading the new flac versions. I'm already downloading The Game :) |

What happened with Life is Real? |
brians wig 16.06.2013 04:57 |
Hi Matt. So glad you discovered Skydrive! At last I have flac files instead of mp3 of The Game. Looking forward to Hot Space, but REALLY interested to see what you can do to Queen II..... :) |
C_Matt 28.06.2013 14:15 |
Thank you very much for your replies and keeping the interest on this remixes! Vali, I'm going slow at the moment, but today is my university last day, so I'll be free to work more often with Hot Space, but then I have the final exams. At least I hope I could finish it before July's second half. I'll be updating the current progress, a lot with 'Action This Day' and 'Soul Brother'. Blaise, yes... I'm afraid is a fucking hell to work with. I know Freddie wanted the "Lennon" sound in this song and all that, but basically, the drums are shit and are very loud. The main problems are: 1) The drums are almost in mono, with the vocals and lot of other instruments, hard to separate. 2) The drums have very very harsh and dry highs, to get a reference, like Aerosmith's album "Pump". 3) All the song is very opaque, except for the drum cymbals and the acoustic guitar. 4) The drum snare is very dry and weak. 5) All this issues are very hard to low down, because the drums are too loud. 6) The voice has a shitty effect which makes all too muddy, hard to erase. 7) That effect makes the voice loud, annoying and "ear driller" at some points. 8) When everybody sings the "LIFE IS REAL!" part's "Real!" at 1:34, at the "R" there's a short noise like "Shuc!" hard to eliminate, like many others. And those are the main problems which ruins a beautiful song as this is, and make me restart it again and again... But I'll keep on trying to get a better quality, or at least to restore some missing bass hits, change a bit the drums and change that muddy feeling. Brians Wig, yes! I hope SkyDrive doesn't delete my files. As you said that about "Queen II" I checked a bit "Ogre Battle", and I had some ideas, but it will need a lot of effort. I prefer to finish "Hot Space" first and then think about the next album. There are three Queen albums which scares me to work with because of the strange sound: Queen, Queen II and Innuendo. I was thinking about to work again with "The Miracle" or "Jazz", but Queen II is really intriguing. Cheers! :) |
Chief Mouse 28.06.2013 15:01 |
Can you upload the Miracle on SkyDrive? Thanks. |
C_Matt 01.07.2013 22:27 |
Hi, Mouse, I uploaded 'The Miracle' to SkyDrive. This is an old version, the second I worked with (the first one was 'Jazz'), but without my current knowledge in audio manipulation, so don't expect a miracle, but some songs sound nicer, I included some remixes... Anyway, enjoy it very much! |
Vali 02.07.2013 03:29 |
many thanks again for sharing your brilliant work with us, Matt !! I am awaiting so impatiently to put my hands on Hot Space when you finish it ! now that you've mentioned "Jazz": are you planning to rework this one properly as well, in the future? with your current knowledge I'm sure you could deliver another winner ! well, in fact I'd love you to revisit all the albums :D |
C_Matt 12.07.2013 15:25 |
I'm free for a couple of weeks! Vali, I was searching my projects folder at my PC and found other things beside 'Hot Space', like an unfinished remix of 'Mother Love', one 'Scandal' remix, a SSoR one too, or some 'Innuendo' sound experiments trying to isolate the vocals. I'll rework 'Jazz' too and see how far can I get. Actually, I'm really interested in revisiting all the albums too, but I don't know where to start. I want to make some changes on 'The Game' and 'The Works', but not by now, because I'll never finish anything with that mind. I only know I won't start with 'Queen', 'Flash', 'Innuendo' or MiH by now. Honestly, I think I'll do like an albums championship, throwing coins between couples and discard till one of them wins, and that's the album I'll rework. Cheers! :) |
Vali 17.07.2013 09:29 |
ha ha ha ! many tks for the update Matt ! please take your time, whatever the coin says, once you've finished with Hot Space. I'm sure, whatever your decision is, the final output will be awesome as all your previous works ! Once again, many tks for sharing your jewels with us! I'll be very happy when I can put my hands on Hot Space !! .... and on Jazz, on Queen II, and SHA, and ADATR .... ;) |
Chief Mouse 17.07.2013 10:00 |
Matt, are you going to attempt AKOM? |
C_Matt 21.07.2013 23:55 |
Hello! I'm uploading a little preview from the almost finished 'Hot Space' album on it's corresponding post for some songs that wasn't uploaded yet. I'm very close to finish it! Mouse, I'm going to check all albums. To be fair enough with all the chances about the next album, I made a championship between QII, SHA, ADatR, NotW, 'Jazz', and AKoM, and this was the result: Round 1: -QII vs. SHA --> SHA -ADatR vs. NotW --> ADatR -'Jazz' vs. AKoM --> AKoM Round 2: -SHA vs. ADatR --> ADatR -ADatR vs. AKoM --> ADatR -AKoM vs. SHA --> SHA The winner is ADatR, so this will be the next album I'll be attempting. Trough I might preffer another one, it was a good result. It's good to change between 70's and 80's albums, I'm a bit tired right now from the energic and powerful adult pop/rock Freddie and Queen sound, and I need a break from it after entire days hearing the same songs. The same effect had all the albums I worked with, but after going with another one I was back to normally. My next album will be ADatR, but the next one will be AKoM then, I promise. I hope you enjoy this one by now and check the preview! Cheers and thank you very much! |
Vali 22.07.2013 02:48 |
ADATR ? my favourite album ! not a bad choice, Matt ;) |

Can't wait ! I would gladly pay for the entire discography again if you were hired by QPL to remix and remaster everything ! |

Ditto. Your remixing is the only real reason I visit this website any longer. I'm tired of all the bitching, name calling etc. that goes on across the board but I cling on for these. I listen to your mixes all the time and love hearing the details brought out. I'm dying to hear the complete Hot Space album. Thanks again. |
C_Matt 15.08.2013 19:02 |
Thank you very much for those words! And as always, sorry for the delay. I know how it feels to be waiting anxious and there are delays. Fortunately, it was short hahaha. Drmurph, you can download it right now, hope you really enjoy it. Thank for saying that, really good words to read. Despite I started this as a personal project, thanks to you guys I keep on working and uploading this too. Cheers! |

Hello, Rien! You are very welcome! I hope you really enjoy this mixes when you listen to them, now finishing some last bits of ADatR, and I'll be uploading it by these days. I recommend you 'Hot Space' or 'Jealousy' from 'Jazz', which I really like the result. Thank you very much for being here! It's time for refresh the main post. |

Not to be a pain...but, is there any way someone can put ADATR on a link from here? My work system will not let me access "Media Storage" sites...lol. Thanks! |
C_Matt 16.01.2014 11:21 |
Yes! I'm uploading it to MediaFire, but to get a faster uploading time I'll do it in MP3. Anyway, MediaFire will delete it in short time, that's why I'm with SkyDrive now. I'll put the link shortly, as soon as it gets all online. EDIT: I've been really really bussy, but I copy to you the link with the INCOMPLETE version of the album, but well... it's something: link I have to go now, buy I'll finish it later. Anyway, I highly recommend you to download and listen the complete thing from the beggining! EDIT 2: The upload is now complete, but I'll be uploading it too to SkyDrive to have them and be more secure. |

I use it because is very useful and practical, and doesn't have problems with the copyright. Anyway, I uploaded it on MP3 to PutLocker now. But I recommend you to download the songs as fast as you can before they get deleted. Here are the links! Part 1: link Part 2: link Please, put your headphones loud and enjoy the album! Indeed. Thanks again C_Matt for all the hard work you put in. You're a wizard. I'm digging the ADATR Revisit. Your versions always become my go-to editions. It really is a great album that gets somewhat lost in the shuffle of Queen's releases. Lot's of highlights on your version. I love the new ending You and I, Long Away sounds fantastic as does GOFLB both versions and you managed to breath new life into Somebody to Love. Great job man. I'm sure May and Taylor are paying attention. Keep 'em coming! |

Hi! Thank you very much for your replies! I'm happy to hear that you liked it! Working with 'One Vision' right now, and getting cool. I really doubt Roger and Brian are paying attention to this hahaha, maybe some day I'll send them one of the songs. Thanks too for making me notice I didn't upload the changes file. Here's the link: link I hope you enjoy it very much! Thank you for all! |

C_Matt wrote: I really doubt Roger and Brian are paying attention to this hahaha, maybe some day I'll send them one of the songs.I don't know dude. I really doubt Brian or Roger spend time on message boards but they have assistants and employees at labels and management companies and whatever that certainly do. I would not be surprised if your revisions land on their desks in some form or another. Brian is a notorious Queen collector is he not? I'm sure he'd be more than slightly interested in what fans are doing to his work. |
Blaise Pascal 12.02.2014 05:05 |
Matt, will you work even on extended versions of the songs on the album (AKOM, OYOL, PICTP, etc.)? |
C_Matt 18.02.2014 01:34 |
I wish that it were like you say Beatmichael, hahaha, you have a good point. Maybe some day they'll hear this mixes. For now, I'm happy sharing this project I make with love with fans like you and me, but I have to recognize that I'm not doing a great communication work for this mixes at the moment, some day I'll share them in other Queen forums too and give more life to this. Thank you very much for your support :) Blaise, I'm planning to do some extended versions, but I have to select them very well, as some of them are a bit pointless to me, like AKoM one, or FWBFWBF. But other extended versions kick asses! Like the 'One Vision' one, I've been working with that these last days, but at the moment I'll have to suspend this album for a week or so, as I'm taking a short vacation for some days, away from the computer, Internet, cellphones, and the city life. Sorry for the delay, I had too much work. See you soon, best wishes! |
Blaise Pascal 18.02.2014 03:05 |
Thanks for the reply ;) A little tip, if I can give it to you: when you will work on FWBF could you insert the choruses of the video version in the album version? The song, in my opinion, would improve a lot ;) |
cmi 24.03.2014 04:32 |
Hello Matt, your work is really great and very interesting to listen to. Thanks a lot. How can you make so much tweaking on the song with only original stereo mix available? It's fantastic! Is there any secret? I don't mean songs from GVH1&2 or Rockband. |
Blaise Pascal2 28.03.2014 03:15 |
Is everything ok? |
C_Matt 31.03.2014 13:44 |
Hello both of you! Blaise, thank you very much for worrying. It's only I've been very bussy with a new work I have. When I started AKoM, I thought I would finish it by a month, but my plans always get delayed. I love working on this project, but it's hard to find the right time. This last three weeks I've been going home by night and fall asleep, but now I'm more organizated with this new things and have some time to work on this album. Again, thanks for worrying! Cmi, thank you for your interest! There's actually no secret recipe, just working with the different sources I have for every song, trying to get the best song. There are some things I can't tell because some magic will be lost hahaha, but there's absolutely anything that everyone couldn't do. The main key is patience, dedication and love. Sorry for the delay, it's time to upload one song. I couldn't decide between some of them, but as 'One Vision' is the most finished of all, I uploaded it. Here's the link! Enjoy! link |

Enjoy! linkI'm very glad that have you find a new work, I hope that everything will be ok ;) |

I have been a Queen fan for over 25 years, and your HD revisions are the best edits and mastering I have ever heard. Your versions have replaced the original catalog albums for me. I just wanted to say thank you. I am a musician who produces my own albums ,and I know what a real labor of love this project is. It's a lot of hard work, but you are doing a masterful job. Kudos to you, excellent work my friend. |

Great work on AKOM! Really enjoying it :-) I uploaded CD1 on other server for GAP - https://mega.co.nz/#!ndMkUIRJ!oqX3eqogqs9WB1PW5929UvPlE1GMszPJTjCY-YRRtcE |

Chief, I'm so glad for helping me with this. Both of you, Matt and Chief, are excllent perfomers and pretty polite. Thank you very much indeed pals! |

No problems Gap :) Just got an idea and thought I'd post it in case I forget about it. Matt, when you get to doing Innuendo (whenever that is) I think it would be nice if you made drums in the opening something more like the demo where there is more emphasis and punch, I don't know how to describe it but hearing the demo for me those drums make it sort of more epic sounding. I uploaded a compare to see what I mean. |
C_Matt 03.07.2014 19:29 |
Thank you very much GAP and Mouse! I wasn't here to read this at the time, I see, so thanks for uploading it again! Hope you both enjoy the album very much! About 'Innuendo', it is the next album after 'Queen II'. I will have a really hard time with both of them lol! I think I get your idea. The drums in the entire album are like artificial, even the acoustic ones. It sounds like plastic or carton to me (you can notice this really well at 'Lost Opportunitty', just listen to the kick and the snare, and the hi-hat is very panned to the right, like in 'Jazz'). I assume that in that comparison you used the 2011 remaster of the song, it has a glitch at 0:33, and I think I hear it. Specially with this song, the sound got really muddy in the 2011 remaster (mid frequencies overdose), which steals a lot of punch (lows and highs which makes the contrast). Take a listen to the original 1991 album and you'll notice a bit punchier drums sound. This is the main objective for this album, to change the drums sound. Listen to the drum samples they used in 'I Can't Live with You', they are like empty: |

But hear this sound on Innuendo, (sorry I don't know how to call it (cymbal perhaps?), I'm noob at technical music stuff), it is buried somewhere deep low in the 2011 version. It would be nice if you managed to dig it out somehow to make it sound similar as the demo :) |
C_Matt 04.07.2014 19:33 |
Totally get you! You have it right, those are the cymbals, more specifically, the hi-hat. The only song that has a clear drums sound in the album is 'I'm Going Sligthly Mad'. in the rest of the songs are sunken. It can be enhanced more, like with ADatR's GOFLB. 'Innuendo' drums can have a better sound, the information is actually in the songs, the hi-hat is there, but is very low, but can be enhanced a lot more. To me, the drums have a lot of punch and potential wasted by a bad equalization. I'll have it in mind! Thank you, Mouse! |

Innuendo is a dreadful album sound wise. I thought the 2011 remaster was ain improvement for some of the songs but not all. What it really needs is QPL to dig out the multitracks and do a complete new remix with them. |
C_Matt 08.07.2014 22:32 |
Sadly true, it sounds artificial plus the echo-reverb on Freddie's vocals in every single song, which (to my ear): -Blurs the "F", "T" and "S" like if he's singing in an empty metal room. -Makes a cricket bug sound in the higher frequencies (aprox 12 to 18KHz). -Enhances the higher-mid frequencies in his voice (aprox. 1.5 to 2.5KHz), making him sound like an old man. Now, I'm talking about the effect, despite how Freddie was singing and pronouncing at that time. In some songs like 'Innuendo' or DTsH, this effect is not so strong. But if you hear IGSM loud with good earphones, every time Freddie pronounces a "S" it drills your ear. But that's specially killing. You can hear this effect clearly in 'Headlong', TSMGO, RtWW, ICLwY... Check in ICLwY when Freddie says: But I travelled a long road to get hold of my sorrow, I tried to catch a dream We're stuck in a bad place, we're trapped in a rat race I find that the 2011 remasters made a slightly improvement in the 70's albums. But for the 80's and 90's albums I preffer the original of them. And responding to Mouse, I have Facebook! I'm not there very often, and the majority of the post are silly things lol! But if you want to add me, my user name is "/cmatt92". Cheers! |

Saludos. |

Hola, Beta y BootLuca! I don't know exactly when I'm going to work with MiH. Now I have QII, then 'Innuendo', then probably another 70's album to change a bit of sound, and might the next one could be it! Both of 'Mother Love' are great ideas, and I think I can do both of them too. About 'Queen II', I'm not used to include live versions of the songs to mantain the same quality sound trough the album, but I could see what can I do. Might some tracks can be reworked! Leo eso y calculo que editaste el comentario, me pregunto qué habrá puesto tu hermano jajajaja. 'A Kind of Magic' is fully uploaded finally, with notes, cover and the two CD's pack. I hope you enjoy it very much! |

Good luck with QII, Matt. That's going to be a REAL challenge! I hope we can finally get to hear some of the drums which are buried in the mix. :) And, here's another little challenge for you - how about trying to separate 'Side Black' into bonus stand alone tracks? ;) |

Lord Fickle wrote: And, here's another little challenge for you - how about trying to separate 'Side Black' into bonus stand alone tracks? ;)Interesting idea. But we already have standalone versions of Ogre Battle and FHLI tracks. TMOTBQ is also created in 2011 by QPL but not so greatly. |
wOvANz 27.07.2014 07:49 |
hello, I've got some technical questions to C_Matt on this release. first I wonder what quality of used sources? I suppose it [24 bit / 48 kHz] - in this case why not encode result track into [24 bit / 48 kHz] or even to [24 bit/ 96 kHz] it would be a great benefit. next one is related to the previous, some tracks have cut off high frequencies, so they detected by some analyzing software as lossy, maybe it's just a noise reduction of some kind or lossy sources are used? thanks. |
C_Matt 27.07.2014 16:52 |
GAP, I'm really sorry I didn't see your comment before. I'm trying to be at least once a week in QueenZone to check everything is ok. I'm happy you could access to OneDrive, really, I want you to listen and enjoy a lot the album! If you have any trouble again, tell me and I'll upload the album to PutLocker as soon as I read it! Vali, Fickle and Cmi, I'll have a really hard time with 'Queen II'. In sound terms, the drums and the bass are the weakest points of the album, and the vocals and guitars its highlights. I planned to do standalone versions for every track, trought it will be a nightmare. I'll see what I can do. This last week I didn't touch the project due lack of time, but today I'll do some experiments, as I started to check OB and SSoR, having this last one spectacular improvements thanks to the multitracks. Thank you all for the good wishes! Hi, Wovanz! I can answer your questions :) Don't forget that by saying all this next long monologue I'm angry or anything like that, but since texts can't express emotions, just imagine I'm talking in a good mood and never take anything of the next as a disrespectful answer or a reprimand. Said that, let's start! To the first question, about the quality of the sources. I try to use the best quality available to do my works. If you're asking about my last release, AKoM, I used different sources such as GVHII, 1986 AKoM original CD, The eYe soundtrack, Highlander soundtrack, Rock Band multitracks, and vinyl discs and 2011 AKoM remastered CD bits for some B-Sides. I would detail you this better for each track, but it would take me a lot of time. Every track has many different sources, of which none have a bit depth higher than 24-bit nor a sample rate higher than 48KHz, so encoding them with a 96KHz sample rate would be useless since all the rest of the information doesn't exists. From the original 9 songs in the album, except the 5 tracks which are in GVHII, the main source for the skeleton of the rest was the 1986 original AKoM CD. This means that these songs originally were in 16-bit and 44.1KHz, the best sources available for them since CD doesn't suport a higher bit depth or sample rate, so those aren't in 24-bit / 48KHz neither. With this I mean that I used the best available sources for every track to my ear, but not all of them are in the same bit depth or sample rate. Now, I know I could've used the SHM-CD 2011 releases, but the 2011 remasters are ruined to me, with a muddy and compressed sound which killed all the songs contrast, they sound flat and lifeless; plus the loudness war phenomenom. That's why I used the original release sources, or GVHII and RB Multitracks, which sound so much better and allowed me to make new remixes. As an advice, if I were you, I would judge with the ear. The audio enjoyment is more about perception than a mathematical science. The Highlander soundtrack songs are in 48KHz, but they sound really worse than the CD songs, which are in 44.1KHz. Ok, the mix is worse too, but being in 48KHz doesn't mean that is better "real" audio quality. Let's take another example: I prefer a lossy 320kbps MP3 from the original 1986 AKoM CD than a loseless audio from the 2011 remaster. It's lossy and all, and the 2011 CD contains more frequencies information, but judging the song with my ear I wouldn't chose the 2011 one at all. Now I can answer your second question: As I said before, I used the best source available for all the songs. The only source which can be considered as lossy are the Rock Band stems. In this case, 'One Vision' was remixed all again with this multitracks, but again, they sound so so so much better than the 1986 CD release and allows me to make a lot of things I couldn't be able to do working even with the amazing GVHII audio tracks or, again, with the 1986 loseless CD release... so "lossy" is a bit subjective concept in this sense. Now, in every track I work with the multitracks, there's at least one loseless element which makes worth to export the song in a loseless audio format. In the case of 'One Vision', the main structure was made with the Rock Band stems, but it also contains parts from GVHII, 1986 CD and The eYe, which are loseless, and only for their simple inclusion is worth to export the track in a loseless audio format. As for the rest of the songs, absolutely none of them are actually lossy, that's why I would trust more my ear than a software than analizes the audio form. Remember that for some songs I use the CD source, which is at 44.1KHz, but for the final export of the album I put all the songs in 48KHz. That's why the very high frequencies doesn't exist and software says that they are loseless, but it's not the case. Up above I said that resampling a 48KHz song to a 96KHz sample rate would be useless. This would be the same: I worked with 44.1KHz songs and export them in 48KHz, which means that frequiencies higher than 22KHz and higher won't exist since the original source never had them. But I do this for a simple reason: if you or me want to put all the songs together in a multitrack audio editor (like Adobe Audition, which I use), you need to have them in the same sample rate, and by me putting all of them in 48KHz you have them already and don't have to resample all the 44.1KHz songs to 48KHz. To not be considered as loseless, those would have to be at 44.1KHz, but as I want to have them all in the same sample rate, I prefer upscale them to 48KHz than cut the frequencies for the 48KHz transforming them into 44.1KHz audio tracks. But don't worry, since these songs aren't lossy at all. Now, the audio is really a perception thing. I wouldn't judge a song by the waveform or if it's lossy, always it sounds good to me. I really hate 128kbps MP3 tracks, since I can notice a bad quality and cheap sound, but 320kbps sounds really good and keep me satisfied. Despite is really hard, some people say they can "notice" the difference between a lossy and a loseless audio format in an excellent audio player. But the difference between 44.1, 48 and 96KHz (or even 192!!) is ridiculous to me. There's a lot of the psychological thing here. The frequencies higher than than 22KHz are almost inaudible. Anyway, if the human ear could perceive frequencies higher than 24.000Hz I'm sure I won't be there to see it, lol! Here I upload an audio piece containing the first minute of my 48KHz AKoM HD remix, only with the audio information you would be missing if it would be in 44.1KHz. You'll see it's not a big deal! This is what I mean when I say that the psychological element is really present in some people's obsession about audio quality. You could export a lossy 320kbps MP3 (which is a great quality) as a 24-bit/192KHz WAV, and some people would say "Oh my God! What a spectacular quality!" and they would be hearing the same lossy track. It's almost like judging a book by its cover. I hope this answered your questions! :) |
C_Matt 27.07.2014 16:56 |
Try to make the next exercise, it wouldn't take more than 15 minutes, but don't cheat! 1) Take a 5 seconds bit from any song and make four samples: . -Loseless 24-bit 48KHz . -Loseless 16-bit 44.1KHz . -MP3 320kbps 48KHz . -MP3 320kbps 44.1KHz 2) Put a 5 seconds silence at the ending of each one. 3) Name them to identify them correctly (something like "WAV24/48.wav", "WAV16/44.wav, "MP3-48.mp3" and "MP3-44.mp3). 4) Make three copies of every file so you have 4 equal samples of the every quality. 5) Select all the resulting 16 bits and now play them in random mode. 6) Close your eyes every time one of them starts and try to guess which one is it. You have the 5 remaining silence seconds to check if you guessed the right file. 7) Check the final results, how many guesses and how many wrong answers you had. If you done it 100% right you can do it one more time to confirm it wasn't just luck. If you got it 100% right again, then you are a mutant and should donate yourself to science! Cheers! |

C_Matt, thanks for your answer, from what I've heard in your releases I thought you have that secret key into the room with master tapes. But it's shocking info about the way you get the sound and it then, seems to be, a kind of incredible job you've done. WoW! Just WoW! Thank you so much. |
Lord Fickle 27.07.2014 17:49 |
With regards perceived loss of high frequencies, I think, in my opinion, you may have been a bit heavy on the noise reduction at times, Matt. A prime example of that was your mix of White Man where you worked really hard to remove all the background noise, but it turned out TOO clean in the end. Sometimes, a little 'air' is needed to be left, so that a track can 'breathe', if you see what I mean. Perhaps that might be something to bear in mind with QII, as I think you're going to come up against that issue quite a bit. ;) Oh, and with regards your AKOM Highlander version, it sounds almost as good as the album version, sound wise, with a gentle high lift. :) |
C_Matt 03.09.2014 15:21 |
The 'Queen II' post is opened, with a standalone version of TFFMS. It was a real challenge! But I think it works. Fickle, you're right about that, I was a bit harsh with the distortion delete on 'White Man', but I was thinking about doing an alternative mix of it with the original guitar sound, because I like the clean version. Anyway, I was talking about the <20K frequencies, those that are cut off in MP3's and 48KHz to 44.1KHz songs. Thank you a lot for support me always! |
tomchristie22 08.11.2014 22:09 |
Wow, nice. I'm surprised this hasn't got more attention - just listening to the title track of AKOM, it's such a refreshing take on a song which was originally quite flatly mixed. |
tomchristie22 08.11.2014 23:06 |
Loving the stripped mixes, too. I now know harmonies for '39 which I never knew existed in the studio version - the live vocal harmonies are obviously much more simplified, though charming in their own way. |
PabloArg 09.11.2014 08:54 |
Hi Mr. Hero Did you think about take Freddie's voice from the TMBMTLTT demo and then merge it into WO Mix with a decent volume, just as it was meant to be? |
MercurialFreddie 10.11.2014 01:52 |
Dear Matt, just wanted to say that your mix of WWTLF (Freddie's vocal) is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! The chorus in the last refrain could be a little more prominent in the mix but it's only my thought, not some urgent matter which should be addressed. |
Catbert 13.11.2014 10:53 |
C_Matt I've just discovered your excellent work. I can't imagine how many hours you must have spent on these. Thanks so much. I'm looking forward to Queen II and maybe one day Sheer Heart Attack (too much to ask, I know!). |

Matt, your mix of Drowse is wonderful. The drums, bass and vocals shine through so much - it sounds so good. |
C_Matt 29.11.2014 13:06 |
Hi and welcome Tomchristie and Mercurial! Happy to know you liked the remixes! This is product of love and dedication. The point of this remixes is to polish the songs and let you hear lots of sounds you never knew that were there, and to give the "mixed yesterday" feeling. Some are better than others, but I work with the source material that is available for me at the moment, and the knowledge level about audio edition. Right now, AKoM is my last work, and ADatR the one before it. I really like how AKoM sounds now too, I listen to it very often. ADatR can sound a bit better, but yes, 'Drowse' is one of my favorites in the improvement it had. The electric guitar is really audible now during the whole song. Pablo, about TMBMtLtT... I'm on it! I'm gonna try to see what can be done. Lol, "Mr. Hero", let's check this after TMBMtLtT! Catbert, welcome too! I'll be working with SHA, I really want to work with it too! There are other albums first, but that day will come. The next one will be 'Innuendo'... after a quick ADatR and HS 2.0 versions. I'm really scared about 'Innuendo' lol! |

The Real Wizard 02.12.2014 11:52 |
This is the first time I've looked into these threads. Needless to say, this is extremely impressive stuff, C_Matt. I can only imagine what could be done with Queen's music if we got the ten best audio and visual guys on QZ together for a month in Queen's vault. It'd not only redefine the kid in the candy store concept, but also the "labour of love" concept. Something is wrong when this stuff sounds leaps and bounds better than every Queen remaster of the last 30 years, and they had the 24 track masters to work with. Particularly the 2011 remasters, where all the digital toys were available as well. Because if all that's going on here is EQing and not changing the physical music, then surely this kind of job would not be out of the question for official remasters, no? Don't get me wrong - the 2011 remasters were a great cleanup job in many ways, but this version of the Queen II tracks makes the 2011 remaster sound like there's a blanket over the speakers. And finally - I sincerely hope you're doing audio professionally ! |
Lord Fickle 02.12.2014 17:21 |
I suspect that while Matt's remixes / remasters are excellent in so many ways, some of them are a bit too different to the originals to have become 'official' remasters. That said, the overall sound quality of Matt's versions goes to show that the official remasters could have sounded much better. I'm awaiting Innuendo with interest, as that is probably one of the worst *sounding* Queen albums, so it will be great to hear what Matt manages to achieve with it. :) |
BETA215 02.12.2014 20:14 |
I would love to hear, as a Queen II bonus track, See What A Fool b-side version remastered but with BBC sessions vocals. That would be, to me, the perfect mix of the song. |

Perhaps TYMD is the best example of that. A bit extreme diversion from the original version, but nevertheless a very welcome breath of fresh air to the song. But achieving what Matt's achieved without the multitracks is, simply put, stunning. Not only listening to the albums is a pure joy, but to his "experiments" as well. One Year Of Love (demo with guitar solo), New York New York, GOFLB from ToTP almost stereo, etc etc etc ... regarding Innuendo ... I really can't wait :-)))) |
C_Matt 11.12.2014 14:51 |
Hello! Beta, I had to check to be sure about that lol! Well, in the docs of some album it says at the ending "Next stop" and the next album. I'm not sure about every album, but I think the correct "timeline" is: Jazz>TM>TW>TG>ANatO>HS>ADatR>AKoM>QII. About mixing both SWaFIB versions, I think that something can be done, but it wouldn't match since the style of both versions is really really different. Wizard, thank you very much for your kind words! I would love to have the multitracks... restore the songs using the album stereo mix as a source is really harsh and takes a lot of time. I finished SSoR in a couple of days, while the rest of the songs have a lot more of hours of work on them. I love what I do, really, and I take it as a hobby. I teach a bit to a few people about this, and mix some isolated songs for some locals bands from my city (Mar del Plata); but I don't work of this right now. I wish to do it in a future. Now, I can give a fresh sound to the songs using the stereo mix as main source, but if I had the multitracks, I bet I could double that feeling in the half of time. Instead of unveiling buried details, I could expose them right in the front with better sharp using a multitrack. I'm glad you discovered this! Enjoy it as much as you can, and thank you for writing! Fickle and Vali, those are exactly the reasons I'm revisiting ADatR and HS (and FWBF)! I'll give those albums a quick visit. For example, at the moment TYMD sounded good to me, just for the fact that it sounded cleaner than the original, but I hear it now and it can sound a lot better, and more with the techniques I've learned with AKoM and QII. And I could restore the guitar noise I fully deleted from 'White Man' and do an alternative version with it for those who want it, and those who not (like me!). Making the AKoM extended mix (based on Fickle's own mix) was a bit hard since I had to keep the new sound of the song while extending the backing track and deleting some guitars before the new solo and for the new part of the solo. I learned how to do that in that specific moment pressing buttons! I can give a quick revisit to both albums since I saved the "multitracks" I worked with. I didn't keep them for my first 5 albums... shit. 'Innuendo'... brufff! It gives me shivers every time I think about it! I want to give a different EQ to Freddie's voice, since it sounds really different (as I explained above). I suppose I could start experimenting with 'Mother Love' or TSMGO acapella. |
Lord Fickle 17.12.2014 17:50 |
With regards the extended AKoM, I think it came out very well. It's really difficult to go back and try to match the sound of an old mix, unless you've saved all the EQ and other settings. Just for myself, I actually added the end of the album version, to get the little bits of guitar in the fade, so it's as complete as it can be. |
C_Matt 23.12.2014 23:15 |
Hi, Fickle! I know what you say, it was really hard. Since 'Hot Space' I save all the "multitracks" I worked with, so then I was able to work with the extended version of AKoM, and now I'm able to revisit HS and ADatR very quickly. I don't save the EQ settings after I finish the album I'm working with, I delete them because the preset list grows very long. For example, the EQ presets for 'Queen II' songs are saved with titles such as "1974 - FtS Drums Toms 1" or "1974 - TLitE Vocals 3"... Imagine if I'd saved HS and ADatR, then for AKoM I need to go to 1986 for every preset... it's a karma, lol! In the album version I've added the deleted solo at the very end, low volume trough. Cheers! |

Any news on further remixes? :-) I really enjoy your work and I would like to hear Albums like Innuendo or The Miracle after you cleaned it up! |

I'm really happy to know that you liked the remixes! And thank you Vali for answering! 'Innuendo' will be my next after a quick check to other albums. I'll upload QII, probably this Sunday 29th. PD: To the user "Lookin' Divine In Good Ol' '89", I wanted to reply your PM, but for some reason I can't, your nick gives me error. Anyway, it was to thank you very much! |

Hi! I've got a petition about Bohemian Rhapsody... nothing less. It always took my attention when Freddie sings "I don't wanna die" and then "I sometimes wish I've never been born at all". It's obvious that there's a connection between the two sentenses, but they're just different phrases. Then, when they become available, I heard the early versions of this song, and Freddie does sing: "I don't wanna die BUT I sometimes wish I've never been born at all". It has sense as a whole idea now. The petition (of course) is, do you think it's possible to take that 'BUT' from the early versions and merge it into your revision? It would really be great. Thank you!! |
cmsdrums 26.04.2015 06:10 |
Just another voice to add to those praising your work. I've just started to download your album mixes and am having a day sorting my music studio out and just listened to - and enjoyed!! - 'Hot Space' in its entirety! At least someone mixing and mastering that appreciates that John's sublime playing needs to be heard!! Now moved onto AKOM - loving the improved snare on One Vision, and especially the revised little double snare double before the first verse. Can I make a request? There is a similar 'wooly' and unclear drum piece right at the end of the guitar solo in 'Breakthru' before the vocal chorus comes back in - it doesn't have a cymbal on the first beat but always sounds like it should have: they possibly removed it in error when cutting drum tracks together? If you can do anything with that I'll be very happy!! Cheers for all the hard work cmsdrums |

hello matt . first, sorry for my English . say that after listening to your work , I find it outstanding . It 's like listening to many issues again. Incredible . Discover new details , new sounds that were hidden or sounding but not with the strength they needed. congratulations . You could reload The miracle and jazz. I would like to listen to them and not available in the previous post . Thanks!!!! |

Ern2150, Kevukuk and Davidt548, welcome to this revisions! Some thing you must know is that I take too much time to respond, but I am always here and don't disappear. I'm really happy to read that you liked it! Thank you! (I responded about 'Jazz' and TM below). Cheers! Pablo, of course I can do it! I could do an alternative version when I revisit ANatO, since I'm pretty sure a lot of people will hate this particular change hahaha. I would do it right now, but I deleted all the multitracks I worked with in ANatO. Now I keep them just in case. Cmsdrums, thank you very much for your comment! As I said to Ern2150, I always read this, but I hardly have time to sit and answer, so I'm sorry for this big delays. With QII I gave John a LOT of presence. Those terrific basslines sunken over there. Doble bass in SSoR and OB! I didn't know. OV's snare needed more power. The intention was... to make like a whip, but it was a bit weak. And yes, that sunken doble snare after the extended intro always bothered me hahaha. I'm working (slowly but steady) with 'Jazz' and 'The Miracle' album, so I've already started with 'Breakthru'... a hard song to work with. I'll have this in mind, as it always bothered me too, lol. Thank you so very much! Tomorrow I'll be uploading QII CD2. |

Killer_queenIII 30.08.2015 08:03 |
I just got your mix of Night At The Opera, and I gotta say a salute isn't enough to express what an exceptional job you did there. I'm In Love With My Car sounded heavier than I thought, you can really hear the 12-string on '39 (I don't know if it's just me but it sounded like a 6-string being used on the official mixes i've heard) Prophet Song became even more grandiose. I could go on, but there's just a lot of compliments to fill this text box. Keep up the good work, Matt! I'll be looking forward to your future work. |

Hello everyone! After a long absence I can finally come here and write again. Welcome to everyone new to my mixes and thank you very much for your words! It always makes me happy to know that you liked them. Please, enjoy them very very much. I'm now revisiting ADatR and making a "2.0" version, and I'll do it too with ANatO, HS (I've done a little change in one of UP's pianos so far) and AKoM (and try to add that little ending missing part to FWBF, for example, and other things, like minimal volume corrections). I proudly can say now that QII is officially finished and the CD 3 with the enhanced mixes is uploaded. I would love to rework this songs from the multitracks. Just imagine how fresh they could sound. I'll keep sending my Curriculum Vitae to QPL lol! Thanks again for your kind words! I got a long time without posting, but I check the page from time to time, and it's kind of frustrating don't have a few hours to read every comment and answer as I like to do. Again, hello to everyone and thank you very much for understanding my absences. This project is not dead, and it won't be until I die (or finish it befor I die lol), now, if my absence is longer than 6 months then I'm dead or lost in the sea without wi-fi. |
Vali 04.09.2015 05:37 |
welcome back Matt !! wow, you got a hell of work ahead , hahaha, bravo !! really love the fact that you're already working on these 2.0 versions and can't wait to listen to them all, but does this mean that Innuendo has been put aside for a while? cheers! Vali |

Hello everyone! I'm back after a long time without posting. I won't start giving explanations or excuses, just say that I can work only a few hours (luckily) per week with this project, but it's still alive, and that I'm really happy to finally be able to post here again. It makes me feel good. There isn't actually a single day that I think about QueenZone, this remixes and you. I opened the 'The Miracle' post now, if you want to check it. Last time I was in touch with Matias, it was by e-mail in10th August, 2016. I sent him the last message asking about the existance of Queen binaural stereo mixdowns but he never replied it. I hope everything alright with him. |
BETA215 05.08.2017 03:30 |
I really hope, deep in my heart, that there aren't any bad news to hear about him. Somebody remembers the Facebook page of the band he was in, playing the drums? Maybe we could find an answer searching in his friends profiles. But all leads me to think that: he just deleted all his social profiles and stopped his activity in internet, for his own reasons, or he's dead. Quoting him: "This project is not dead, and it won't be until I die (or finish it befor I die lol), now, if my absence is longer than 6 months then I'm dead or lost in the sea without wi-fi." A year has passed since the last email he sent to a member of this forum, GAP. You can draw your own conclusions. |
Vali 08.08.2017 11:32 |
Hope he's well and simply busy with other things. It's a pity he vanished as, to me, his work represented the most creative and exciting stuff I've ever found here. |
GAP 09.08.2017 05:11 |
I have already sent a message to Matias but he has not answered yet. Remembering something, he always mentioned his lack ot time (school) to make the HD Queen revisions so that this would be probably the cause, even so, he gifted me in advance around february 2016 his new version of Tie Your Mother Down mix focusing on Brian's solo. In addition to help, he wrote Spanish very well because he told me he was from Argentina and perhaps, we could ask for our Argentinian fan members of queenzone if they know something abou him. |
BETA215 09.08.2017 17:58 |
I'm Argentinian. I had him on Facebook, and he suddenly dissapeared. That's the most suspicious thing of all. I mean, if he were just busy, there would still be a Facebook account. I also sent a message to his QZ account, just to see if he ever replies to it. Given the fact that now PMs arrives to your email account. |
PabloArg 10.08.2017 00:23 |
I'm from Argentina and I tried to contact him too.. I sent him a message through facebook and it was marked as read one or two days before his the facebook profile was closed. And of course he never answered. It's very strange... I really hope he is fine. I already spent several hours trying to contact him online. But Mar del Plata (where he is from) is such a big city and his complete name 'Matías Lopez' is not the best one to have for someone to be found. Born in 1992 (maybe), likes dogs, drummer, his 'hot space style' profile image (very representative to him, according to what I remember from his FB)... Some other hints? |

So, it has been a long time. I hope everyone of you are better than when I wrote the last post. I listened "Father to Son" today since a while... and I thought "wow... long time I don't do these Queen HD Revisions"... and here comes the sad part: As much as I really want go and start again with the mixes, simply I don't find the time to sit and do it. After a long work day, I don't find the creative energy to do this, one of the things I love, since is at work when all the creative power gets drained. I like my work, but 8/9 hours is a bit too much for me to continue producing something when I get home. I preffer to distract a bit the mind and watch an episode of the good old seasons from The Simpsons to chill and eat some good food to have a content heart before going to bed. I think I'm a victim of capitalism! Imagine, in this last years, I've graduated, made a great job career and moved to live alone, I'm buying all the stuff and the financial part is not bad at all... but the free time has been reduced to 3/4 hours a day. It was this job what allowed me to buy a new PC to write this message for example, and at this point I can't do any kind of change about it, but I need some kind of balance as soon as possible between the material part and the feed-the-soul-with-creativity part. And now, I'm in this time I want to do something different that gives me the time to play some creative games like The Sims, city simulators, play keyboard, drums, study portuguese, programming, and almost all... CONTINUE WITH THE HD REVISIONS!!! There is not a single day I don't think about this, and it got more and more spaced between the moments I've had to spent in this project. A lot for just one man I think. If I'm writting this right now is because I had a pause from the everyday rush... God, we are finishing September! I need a break from the "wheel of life". I have great plans for this project, and I know where to start... I even started with some new stuff, but it's in pause for now. I hope some day I'll find the creative time again to continue this ambicious and lovely project in which I've been giving all my heart and soul, staying up all night... and if I can't find it, eventually I WILL MAKE IT. And I hopefully want that you still be here to give these remixes a listen! Thank you for your AWESOME support all this years. It IS a worthwile experience! |
Vali 26.09.2018 09:48 |
Matt, querido amigo Thanks for taking the time to come here and let us know you're doing well in life !! I fully understand what you're saying. When I get home from work I'd like to read, and watch movies/series, and play guitar and record some new songs/demos and many other things I love to do. But sometimes I just can't !! There's no time or energy ! And in my case I've just become father 3 months ago, so everything is more difficult now and you just have to set priorities in life. So, thanks again for letting us know you're well. And for letting us know that the HD revisions project is still in your head and in your heart. I'm happy to learn that we'll get new stuff from you some day. I will wait months and years if necessary because I've loved what you've done here since day 1. Cuídate!! Hope to hear from you again, sooner than later ! :-) |

Good to hear from you, Matt, and pleased that you're doing OK. I know exactly where you're coming from with regards having time to do mixes, etc. For different reasons, I have the same problem, as there simply aren't enough hours in a day to do all the things I want to do, and that's mostly the reason I haven't done any mixes recently too. I hope that one day you can find the time to compete your project, as that would be a great achievement for yourself, as well as being extremely rewarding for all of us. Above all, stay happy and healthy! |

Hi @C_Matt, Your Hot Space remixes are amazing -- thanks for this! My opinion on this album from the get-go was it was never bad, just poorly mixed. The band needed to collaborate with an experienced disco/funk producer at the time to give the album the proper sonic punch it needed. I feel you have effectively gone back to 1982 and become that ghost producer :) WELL DONE :) |
dysan 12.11.2018 13:31 |
Yeah they didn't have the flexibility of, say, Bowie who could change band and producer instinctively. Might have been interesting - it was a brave decision for them to get in Arif as it was. I'd say Hot Space was always more about New Wave than pure Disco / Funk anyway. |
