Since 1979 Trip Khalaf has been the guy sat behind the FOH sound desk on every Queen tour, including the Freddie Tribute, Q+PR tours and BM's Another World tour. He has been responsible for Queen's amazing live sound reproduction. However during the Queen+Adam Lambert shows he is touring with Roger Walters' Wall tour.
So is he going to get 6 nights off from the Wall tour, or will Queen have a new guy behind the desk or might John Harris come out of retirement?
"He has been responsible for Queen's amazing live sound reproduction"
Suggest you look for the thread on Queens live post production work.
And who in their right mind would take leave from the Roger Waters tour to oversee 2 musical prostitutes and a silly child?
If that's your view on the subject way did you bother replying. Try reading what the question said. And if you're trying to proove a point by telling me to look for another post or thread. A link might be an idea.

to me, that's actually more interesting than whatever happens on stage with Queen & kk.
perhaps some of brian's infamous "chaps" ?
Dismissing all the hero-worship and mud-throwing above, the job in question is less of a creative one, and more of a technical job. It requires, above all, knowledge of acoustics and electronics.
If they choose to work with someone new, they will need to spend some more time on getting the sound right than they would have if they were working with a familiar engineer, but the result should be pretty close.
I sincerely doubt they'll get Trip Khalaf to do two tours at the same time, and I think Brian and Roger are well enough connected to know a suitable replacement of whom *we* have probably never heard before.
How does that thread have anything to do with live sound reproduction quality, that thread is about fixing mistakes on the live recording in the studio. . .
A very different subject to the quality of live sound production.
Lazy sod? Had you told me to look at the Wembley overdub thread I wouldn't have needed to ask. . .
Mind you I would still ask why?
If he's already on tour with Waters then sadly he probably won't be with them this time, which is a shame as he will know the requirements of their sound inside out. I can certainly say that the sound at the Freddie tribute was superb - unfortunately not matched by the terrible audio on the subsequent VHS and DVD releases (was that Justin Shirley Smith?).
I'm sure whoever they have will be well versed with the requirements and be expert in their field though, and they will
have ironed out any specifics in rehearsal and pre-production.
Finally, I agree that it is going to be really annoying if people start posting about the audio on DVDs etc which have nothing to do with the man responsible for the sound in the venue in the night, which is what your post is about.
Cheers
Wait a minute, Trip was working the Wall shows?? No wonder the sound was awesome when I went to the Edmonton show the first night. Damn, wish I'd have known, woulda went up to say hi to him again!

Thanks! I thought perhaps if it was a nickname someone might know the story behind it. And I thought it might be nice to have a Queen related question on this forum rather than just watching people say horrible things to each other and bots speaking gibberish. In the future, I will simply Google. Sigh.
MHZ, I knew why you asked the question. Thanks for trying. The situation with the bots is ridiculous and I had hoped your question might elicit some discussion even though Google does give the answer easily.

I think there will be another guy to replace him in charge of Queen's music, I am looking forward to that. Whenever there is a new show, I will definitely attend no matter where I am because I can drive anywhere by mapquest driving directions
