brians wig 29.06.2012 08:21 |
Is anyone capable of recording the transmission stream itself and extracting it to the computer inorder to keep the high quality? If not, do you all have Tivo type boxes that will record the transmission onto a hard drive that you can then edit and burn onto multiple DVDs at the highest quality? As you may appreciate, we all need to avoid the situations we had in 2008 where the only TV broadcasts (Ukraine & South America) had 2.5 hours on a single DVD in poor quality. |

WWRY Fast and FBG were pulled off relatively well because they have a lot of that talk-singing and harmonies which hide what is his weakness for me - interpretation and the right insticts for delivery. DSMN back to shaky for me. |

this comment includes some random thoughts written during the concert... ---------- what a great opening!!! playing stuff that wasn't heard live for ages blows my head being a fan for decades. but after a few songs... same old, same old. hmpf. nice to hear 'who wants to live forever'... also nice to see brian is taking the guitar work on his own! great work!!! carry on playing, doc... please dig all the badger stuff... what a heavy and grand drum sound it must have been live... with two kits... having heard roger in 2005, THIS must have been the ultimate treatment for guts and bones... the incorporation of the drum-solo into 'dragon attack' could have been smoother by far. after all i think adam's color of voice suits better into the queen sound than paul's ever did. it's nice to see he spots some places to prove himself as a singer-personality. don't get me wrong - paul is a great singer, but this lambert-guy hits the hights where they need to be hit. also he avoids paul's trademark to chew the slibants eternally... ...but... am i the only one who cannot stand 'radio gaga' anymore ? 'i want to break free'... umpf... wasn't even spectacular in the 80s... what about 'hard live' instead ???!!!! do they really need to play all the songs of the last tours ? nice to hear 'don't stop me now' and 'somebody to love', though. 'the dust' works quite well... but adam's ad-libs definitely need some improvement..! there seems no real contact to the audience. but .... noooo... not borhap! nice idea to implement freddie into 'love of my live'. but brian's performance was quite weak this time. overall the songs got nice treatments. compliments to spike nailing them to the spot. what i would have wished for was a rendition of 'tenement funster' (c'mon... there IS a second drummer!!!) or 'long away'... for god's sake!! please deliver sth. that no one expects!!! not having recruited sir elton for 'the show must go on' is a missed opportunity. blame them! cannot understand that as they got some 'victor whoever' as a guest singer io to sing WWRY. whoever THAT may be. btw. do i have to know this bass-guy ? the guitar solo... hum... yeah. quite familiar... would have wished to hear it between some 'father to son' and 'brighton rock'. wishful thinking. let's hope there will be a decent quality recording of the hammersmith gigs. the current lineup seems to be promising in terms of thight sound that, imho., reproduces the queen legacy quite well. adam doesn't seem to be the worst choice. don't matter what his background as a casting-'star' is. despite of all the bad words i've written it was pretty good entertainment! let's hope the setlist changes a bit for the following gigs! |

Posted this in the set list topic but in case no one's looking there... Here's the set list. Songs sung by AL unless otherwise noted. - Flash Gordon, Seven Seas, Keep Yourself Alive (medley) - We Will Rock You (fast) - Fat Bottomed Girls - Don't Stop Me Now - Under Pressure (Roger & Adam) - I Want It All - Who Wants To Live Forever - A Kind of Magic (Roger) - Days Of Our Lives (Roger) - Love Of My Life (Brian with a clip of Freddie at the end) - 39 (Roger & Brian) - Dragon Attack - Drum solo (duet?) with Rufus - Guitar solo (Brian) - I Want To Break Free - Another One Bites The Dust - Radio Ga Ga - Somebody To Love - Crazy Little Thing Called Love - The Show Must Go On - Bohemian Rhapsody (the traditional way with a recording in the middle part) Encore: - Tie Your Mother Down (Brian) - We Will Rock You (Adam & Victor.. somebody? A Russian singer) - We Are The Champions |
Wiley 30.06.2012 17:05 |
Overall, a good show. Started great with a few rarities thrown in but ended with a very predictable Greatest Hits setlist. Biggest omission would be "I'm in love with my car", Id' say. My comments on Facebook during the show. Queen+AL in Kiev... Intro with Flash's Theme recording, then The Hero!!! Wooooow! Seven seas of rhyeeeee!!! :O Fucking Brian, NOW you play Keep Yourself Alive!! Queengasm! Queen playing We Will Rock You (fast version) for the first time since '82! Fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin' world go round... Adam, so far so good. Don't stop me now with guitar intro, no piano so far... Under Pressure! My favorite Queen song. Duet between Roger Taylor (singing Bowie's part) and Adam Lambert. Roger's son Rufus on drums. Cool! I want it all! Nice intro. Queen's lead single from their 1989 album The Miracle. Good setlist so far. Who wants to live forever, in its original key and reaching all the high notes. Nice. Not that much vibrato, which is good for Adam. Roger Taylor to the center of the stage, singing A kind of Magic. Rufus takes over drumming duties. No-one other than him (and Freddie) should sing this song. Good call. Missed all of "These are the days of our lives" because the stream died. Switched to another one just in time for "Love of my life", Brian on acoustic guitar. Brian asks the Kiev audience if there is any football tomorrow (Euro), then starts playing '39 with Roger on the tambourine. Great. Adam's back on stage for "Dragon Attack", nice intro with just the bass and then in comes the rest of the band. A bit slower than usual but the riff sounds heavier. Father and son drum solo with the Taylors. The initial drum roll made me think they would do Innuendo but no. The inevitable, after the drum solo comes Doctor May's lengthy solo. Bathroom break! Hahaha Good rendition of "I want to break free", then on to "Another one bites the dust". Hmmm... the setlist is becoming predictable with all the hits. Started much more promising with old 70's classics. Radio Ga Ga with Adam Lambert on vocals. Why not Roger Taylor? We would miss kick-ass drumming for the track but this is another one of those songs that he should always sing. Didn't expect to hear "Somebody to Love" by this time. Nice (half) surprise. Too much vibrato, Adam! Liked Marc Martel's version better for the Queen Extravaganza tribute. Half surprise turned to full surprise. Drum roll and then we're on to the new rockier ending for "Somebody to Love", based on the last riff of It's Late. Not bad. Brian doesn't give a shit anymore. Playing all of "Crazy little thing called love" on his Red Special. No switch from acoustic guitar to a Telecaster to the Red Special anymore. Still, sounds fresh, I guess. "The show must go on", indeed. Good rendition. This means we're near the of the show. Hmmm yes, "Bohemian Rhapsody" is next. We're almost done here. Freddie appears on the screen to sing the second verse of "BoRhap". Showing how it should be done. Adam, take a break. Queen back for the encore with Brian May singing lead while playing guitar on "Tie your mother down". Another Queengasm! "We will rock you" now starts. Adam starts singing early, interrupting Doctor May's intro, then introduces some local singer to sing the second verse. It's good to know Brian has the last word on this one with his kick-ass outtro riffing solo. Classic. "We are the Champions" now follows as usual. Fans know this is the time to start looking for the exits and try to beat the traffic, haha :) |

dysan wrote: Good gig. I'd have dropped the middle section (DA, AKOM, TATDOOL) and the noodling between songs. But far far better than I'd imagined. You'd have dropped the songs sung by Roger? Best bits mate, best bits. |

I realy enjoyed this show. To bad I missed the opening, but I will catch that up soon. This might be the best post-Freddie Queen+ ever. There where a few nice surprises in the performed songs. Although, I was hoping to get a few more of the rarer songs. Like Innuendo, March of the Black Queen or The Prophet Song. And I was expecting one or two songs from Adam's albums. But I am realy exited to see them three times in London soon. |

By the way everyone, our Hungarian friend is having problems decrypting the recording (it has to do with the BISS encryption that the broadcaster was testing during the concert). As of this moment, only 20 minutes are "in the clear". When this situation is rectified, we will make another post. |

As ahas been said several times - hopefully the London shows will have a few more surprises as this gig was very much a greatest hits. Although it was quite daring to do '39 and Dragon Attack at such a gig. I'm sure Elts didn't do any non singles. |

Quite an ok show. I dont think the band sounded as good as on Q+PR tour. Lead vocals soúited better on some song though. Why does Roger need his son there to play drums? ... Brian scrapped the secodn guitar away... |

Lambert was a disaster as frontman. Oh my god how awful it was. With that said Brian May and Roger Taylor were great and in their right element. Lambert was out of dept by far! This partnership wont last long, thats for sure. As sad as it sounds I would rather watch Queen Extravaganza than Queen + this clown. Thats how it stands now. I have to say I was shocked to see how Lambert struggled vocally and performancewise. And he had no genuin charisma. It was all so forced. Sad, sad, sad. Martell any day. |

Another Roger (re) wrote: This partnership wont last long, thats for sure. Nor is it meant to. Unlike Paul Rodgers, Adam stated in interviews right from the get go he doesn't intend to make this a long-term collaboration as he has his own career and a new album with attached promotion to focus on. So you can relax dude :-) |
