Can anyone tell me where each of the performances from Live Magic are from? I read somewhere that most were from the Knebworth show. Is that correct? Any info would be appreciated. |
The Real Wizard 04.10.2011 16:26 |
Indeed, it's mostly from Knebworth, but there are three other shows in the mix - A Kind of Magic - Budapest 7-27-86 Under Pressure - Budapest 7-27-86 Is This the World We Created - Wembley 7-11-86 Hammer To Fall - Wembley 7-12-86 The two Budapest tracks are notably different mixes from the VHS release. |

I always thinked that Live Magic sounds waaaay better than Live At Wembley, but the cut the songs, too bad. The archivist said Queen record also the Slane, Newcastle and Manchester shows. Is that correct? Why didn't include it in Live Magic? |
shanoon 05.10.2011 22:58 |
i thought a kind of magic was from wembley.. |

"Is This The World We Created.....?" on Live Magic is great! Does anybody know which concert it's from? Thanks! |
Bo Rhap 06.10.2011 05:39 |
Bob says its from Wembley 7-11-86. |

I do remember seeing a recording truck at Slane. I don't know what happened to the recording. |
Kevinrm15 06.10.2011 08:39 |
It's in the archives. If I recall correctly, I do believe Slane was used for overdubs on Wembley. |

A Kind of Magic from Budapest is the best live version of that song! And the Live Magic mix is the best! IMO it's worth getting Live Magic just for that one :) |
e-man 09.10.2011 03:52 |
are we certain that magic is from budapest? sounds like wembley #2 to me... Live Magic on vinyl sounds ACE - especially the Knebworth songs |
maxpower 09.10.2011 06:06 |

The Knebworth mixes on Live Magic sound great - especially the drums. I'd love to see a full Knebworth CD released (though not at the expense of Hammersmith 79, Earls Court, Houston etc!!) |

Is this year the year we'll finally get Knebworth on CD? |

Just wanna drop my 2 cents here: Before, I thought I wanted to see Knebworth on CD, but now I feel like they wasted the opportunity back in '12 when Hungarian Rhapsody came out. They could have released a Super Deluxe edition of that album, including the Budapest gig and Knebworth in four discs, like how Live At The Rainbow has two concerts. As it stands, i'm already happy with pittrek's merge of Knebworth, and will be looking forward to Hyde Park being released. |

still waiting for a deluxe edition of Live Magic... |

The Real Wizard wrote:Roger has said that the sound on stage was awesome at Knebworth. It looks like Knebworth was in terms of sound the best of the recorded concerts so hopefully this will lead to the best 1986 audio release one day (soon)... There's something truly magical about this show. Not just that it was their last but also the atmosphere in general. Wembley also has a great atmosphere but at Knebworth the playing was better (certainly compared to the second night at Wembley) and FM's voice was better (especially during the first part of the concert).cmsdrums wrote: The Knebworth mixes on Live Magic sound great - especially the drums.Agreed. What do you guys think? |
pittrek 29.01.2016 03:48 |
Well it's my favourite 1986 show and one of the favourite 80's shows so I can't argue with you :-) |

I know it has been said million times before, but I say it again: It's one of the biggest shames on Queen's career that they didn't film this concert. Of course I understand it would've been a bit too large investment to record it professionally, they already recorded Wembley and Budapest from this tour. But oh god, at least the screen feed! I know there's always rumours that this screen feed exists, but I have given up the hope. Knebworth screen feed existing seems to be some kind of holy grail among Queen fans, a quest that never ends.. I also hope that they would unveil the whole DoRO material filmed there, who knows exactly how much they filmed.. But I guess that's a messy situation too. But sometimes I fantasize about living in a alternate universe, where they hired David Mallet to film their Knebworth concert. You can use AC/DC's Donington release as a reference. It would have been glorious :) |

The problem is QP joint forces with Doro all those years ago and till this day their are some major issues that prevent the release of such material. 1) the rights to the shot footage. Owner rights, publishing rights etc. A lot of money is involved here. 2) the relation between Rosacher and Dolezal. From what I've been readindg they are not working together anymore. 3) the handling of the footage; a lot of Queen stuff is missing, whiped or lost. |

I've found it in eBay, but it's weird that you are showcasing it without any of this site's users ever noticing before. Could you post, at least, screenshots (from non actually available songs [to the public] in that quality), and an audio sample? I'm interested in that, but since there's no evidence... Anybody can do a fake DVD and say there's a piece of heaven. For then, in the arrival of the DVD, realize how much money and time you lost in that insignificant piece of crap. |
