It's my understanding that the original UK CD release of AKOM included the extended versions of "A Kind of Magic" and "Friends Will Be Friends." Do you think the re-issue will include these tracks?
I am planning to buy the original UK CD if not, I want those songs in my collection! I wonder if Queen will use the songs on the CD's (since compact discs became more popular) during this time, instead of LP versions?
I hope the AKOM and Miracle CDs keep the original main CDs intact with the original bonus material and don't bump them onto the bonus disc at the expense of 'additional' bonus material. In theory, this way, there is enough room to make The Miracle complete with ALL the b-side stuff, and AKOM with the Highlander material etc. Really looking forward to them, and I haven't even heard the 2nd batch yet.
Just be aware that the original UK CD did NOT contain the extended versions of AKOM & FWBF.
Both those versions are actually bastardised edits of the extended versions....
The original UK CD contains "A Kind Of 'A Kind Of Magic'" and "Friends Will Be Friends Will Be Friends...". AKOAKOM is edited second half of the Extended Version. FWBFWBF is edited Extended Version.
The above post is correct, but since they have unique titles, for me they qualify as individual non-album tracks, right up there with "A Human Body" and "Lost Opportunity."
As for the bonus tracks on the origin album releases of "A Kind Of Magic" and "The Miracle," I expect Queen will honor what stood as the original track listing of the original album in it's *primary medium*. The primary medium of the albums from the debut album through to The Miracle was vinyl. From then on, Innuendo to The Cosmos Rocks, the primary medium was compact disc. This is why we don't consider the edits on Innuendo and Made In Heaven as the standard album versions.
That means that bonus tracks on AKOM and TM would be left of the album CD on the deluxe editions, by my estimation.

Me too...
Basically, they probably will put those extended songs on a second disc... either way, I'd buy The Works and this album because they're great!

I listened the Friends Will Be Frieds extended and bonus and the difference is only one. It's not about fading out I think.
After the long guitar solo in the middle there's verse that ends with: "you got friends, you can trust".
Extended Version (12") continues with "friends will be friends" chorus two times.
The UK 1986 CD bonus has this chorus only once. The first chorus from Extended Version is missing.
