Thank you very much! I remember enjoying listening to the old B source and I guess this one will be a great one. I think it is a very underrated Magic show.
My God: The 1st verse on the Bo Rhap is awesome--one of the top times he ever sang the line "But now I've gone and thrown it all away." It ranks up there with Leiden 3rd Night, Live Aid, etc.
Greg: Yes Borhap is great but for In The Lap of the Gods Revisited it is definitely not the best. Borhap is a top 5 on the tour though...he sings the "now I've gone and thrown it all away" line very similar to how he sang it at Budapest except this one is a little better.
He does hit a few rough notes on the ITLOTG...Revisited (now that the quality is better, I can actually hear Freddie better), but it does prove two things (think of the Magic Tour Debate):
1. He doesn't mess up the B4 on the "all you wanna talk about line" (he backs off the mic)
2. We can hear the "Funny and "Money" lines at their cleanest (plus the closed vowel phrasing is awesome).
Thank you very much for this. I only had a very bad MP3 copy of this show, so this is a great update.
Is this the same taper that recorded the September 1984 show? I once had a very good copy of that show (bought in 1988 or so) but I lost it somehow. But it also could have been the ‘Kings Favorite’ version, or are they from the same recording?
Anyway, thanks a lot!!
This taper did record 9-21-84 (and the other 5 Brussels shows in the 80s). But the version you had must have been King's Favourite, because these sources were uncirculated until 2009, as far as I know.
Thank you very much. The sound is so clear. Freddie's singing of Who Wants To Live Forever in this gig is really fantastic - here you can hear the different voices in the chorus.
Thanks a lot, Sir GH !!!
is always welcome to see circulating and enjoy the Master Tapes !! :-)
and I agreed, great performance of various songs in this show, especially WHTLF, is fabolous !
This performance of Who Wants To Live Forever is outstanding, with a particular mention for the bridge. Sure it's the best of the tour with the Leiden's versions.
