"Man In the Shadows" is okay and all, but "Hiding In Public" was much more artistically satisfying. John kind of went for broke on that album and, though it may not be the most palatable thing ever, it's merits certainly can't be denied.

He did three solo albums, and some other solo work (like the soundtrack for Biggles, but that sucked). Especially Man in the Shadows is a work of art.
Has anybody a recording of John's 5+ minutes bass solo?
I think he played it somewhere in the early 70's when something went wrong during Brian's guitar solo.
A shame it isn't on the album.
