as the years roll along and you start to think about which queen or another concert you have seen, remember this..
cherish the moment, enjoy the gig.take pictures..
where i live(the backwaters of the scottish borders)there are no so called concert halls.
nearest best place edinburgh over an hour away, glasgow even further..
so it got me thinking??????,what concerts have i really seen..
simple answer.very few..
not just queen but a few smaller or... we used to be big bands ? concerts..
first real band i saw was blackfoot sue(ask your dad). link..
small local hotel just after there big hit..
next was a band called .bilbo link..
another small hotel gig.
the the first time of a real concert.
edinburgh 1982...
ingleston hall....
the mighty fred and the guys giving it big time.. link.
first real big time concert, opened with ,teardrop explodes(heart was second night).
from then on it was a sort of non event for absolutley years..
then came 2008????
11th october to be exact.
now this was something special,why???????......because i was s50 the same day...
waited years to see the band again,,,with or without freddie.i didnt care.
took my kids to there first concert, front row seats......fantastic... link
nothing of course can live up to those two nights.82 and 2008.
so more small concerts followed.. link
the above being bruce foxton(again ask your dads).
on the same bill was the guitar player from, big country, and his son...bruce something..
playing drums with from the jam was big countrys drummer...so technically i got ,big country, the jam lol.
next was a tribute band(saw them 2 times so were ok). link
the latest one was very strange..one guy and a music box lol. link
when pissed he was ok lol lol lol.
now next saturday i have to take my son to newcastle to see someone called....
30 seconds from mars...
never heard of them, never seen them.so fingers crossed they are ok...
but the point i am making is.......if you get the chance to go to a concert, big or small..go..
they dont have to be massive,,just enjoy.
and above all enjoy the night.....you never know.
it may be your last.. link
enjoy..
sweet :)
my sister and my cusion are going to see 30 seconds to mars to,
in birmingham in the N.E.C, never realy heard of 30 seconds to mars but oh well,
and yes, concerts are full of great memories,
and i cant believe how close you got to Brian May in 2008! front row seats! how lucky!
i myself havent been to many big concerts, like Queen or anything like that,
but they do have this concert on every year in shewsbury, i usualy go,
they dont have many BIG BIG bands but big in their day,
but i remember seing Toyah, she was the first person i ever saw perform on stage,
so i filmed every second of it,
then there was t-tau, china in your hands was so remeberable!
then some others but i realy dont remember who they were,
then at the end (or near the end) they had bananrama, and at the time i loved them! still do, but Queen took over and became a HUGE obsessed (and still am)
this was in 2008
we go back every year, its cheap enough :P
but this year, just before august, we went to see a Queen tribute band called Killer Queen,
they were amazing,
but the 80's concert thats n next year is a big one, its at the N.E.C in birmingham,
and its a big one because Boy George is gonna be there!!!!! so naturaly we all plan to go :)
Concerts belong to what I call my "memory bank". Some day when I am old and cannot go anywhere I will have all these memories :-) You are right, David, and I liked the sentimental drift of your posting until you posted the link to Rosetta Stone!!! Merciful silence should be maintained when it comes to this horrible group. They released a selection of the most terrible covers of all times :-)
its the only problem with living in my part of the world is that no decent bands come anywhere near Cornwall but thankfully i have all the memories of the gigs i did go to before moving here 20 years ago..
