I have long had the idea to fix the sound that is available from the legendary concert for the people of Kampuchea, using two sound sources that are available, the big problem with that is that both sources are at a different speed speed . Because of this, I had to resort to the technique of trial and error, and after several months of testing, I have found the right combination, resulting in a sound balance between the console and the audience. All this I did using "Audacity", "Sound Forge" and "Adobe Audition", giving a pretty good result, unfortunately I have still some problems with equalization, therefore I need opinions on how the remaining work to achieve just the highest possible quality. I'm sorry but I have no idea what are you sharing here :-) Is this some kind of "matrix" made from the TV source and the audience source ? Because you wrote information about 2 sources. BTW it's proJect, and not proyect :-) |
neokaden 07.09.2010 07:36 |
It is a sort of mixture between the bootleg audio and audio console, something to achieve a balanced sound quality PS: Sorry for my poor English, but it is not my native language. |
The Real Wizard 07.09.2010 09:35 |
It's a great idea, and thanks for your hard work... but Pittrek has already done something like this.. link It's called a 'matrix'... when you take two sources and play them at the same time. Always check the links from Queenconcerts.com, and you can see what has already been shared. |

I've heard Pittrek work, and it seems pretty good, however, I saw that some songs have dramas with the mixtures, precisely because the speed of the two sources were not in sync (I know it's hard, I take months trying to me achieve exact synchrony, even with a margin of error thousandth) Nevertheless, I repeat version is pretty good, but lacks solve this problem, however, although I have not much time to work with sound sources, I'm doing everything possible to achieve the desired high quality of official concerts . So, I need opinions. Help me a lot. |
The Real Wizard 07.09.2010 23:06 |
The source material isn't perfect, so no amount of work will make it sound like it's an official release. Pittrek's version is probably as good as it'll get, unless the band release the show themselves. |
pittrek 08.09.2010 01:31 |
Well it's definitely worth to hear an alternate version and compare which one is better :-) |
maggiko foka 08.09.2010 03:57 |
Well i can't match with Pittrek's version immediately but this is surely worth to listen to. Thanks for your hard work and for sharing ! Ciao Stefano |
neokaden 08.09.2010 13:15 |
I still have yet to correct things, the idea is that between now and year-end list has songs that can be mixed. |
Nummer2 09.09.2010 07:44 |
I like your matrix, but there could be indeed a lot improvement through the right EQ treatment. I played a bit with Audacity, and here's what I got. Might not be perfect, but surely a further improvement. The curve I used is (replace "[" and "]" with "<" and ">"): [equalizationeffect] [curve name="Hammy79-4217-2"] [point f="20.000000000000" d="-26.990989685059"/] [point f="44.916230156459" d="25.822071075439"/] [point f="69.333810769408" d="12.250000000000"/] [point f="78.822570649255" d="10.774776458740"/] [point f="99.882996131855" d="10.774776458740"/] [point f="139.695665396404" d="-1.027027130127"/] [point f="332.863729781531" d="-3.387386322021"/] [point f="725.746010661152" d="-3.977474212646"/] [point f="1153.935542633602" d="-2.797294616699"/] [point f="2371.316322718483" d="-2.207206726074"/] [point f="3064.788701927736" d="-2.797294616699"/] [point f="4503.157209631097" d="-3.977474212646"/] [point f="7902.498185275893" d="-3.092342376709"/] [point f="10417.068802544567" d="-3.092342376709"/] [/curve] [/equalizationeffect] For the sound, listen to the attachment! |

And here's a screenshot of my adjustments. |
neokaden 09.09.2010 22:47 |
thanks for the help, but I could not download the flac, anyway I'm arranging the song "39 '" which I think was the worst I stay equalized. What do you base that song to get the fix? It would be useful to me, that between reducing the hiss noise, saturation and noise, I was somewhat in quality. If only I had a better source of the songs on consoles ... |
neokaden 10.09.2010 00:44 |
I could fix the equalization of "39", now is "almost perfect" I did not greatly increase the bass, because there are headphones that are over saturated but they can easily increase you comfortable with the equalizer on the music player they use. (For example, using JetAudio Machbass) Here goes: link PS: now be on megaupload, but I will soon upload it to mediafire. |

I took your file (Jailhouse Rock+We Will Rock You fast) and applied an eq curve to it after counterchecking with several sources and the 1977 BBC recording of the song. And then I listened and changed, listened and changed ... till it sounded good. The values I posted are the EQ values for the Audacity EQ preset xml file. Search for it and then paste the values to it. After that you can find it in the Equalizer preset menu. Or just take the screenshot and try to copy the adjustments from there. I compared your matrix to Pittrek's, and in my opinion yours sounds slightly better (after equalizing) - though this can be based on personal opinion, the headphones I used, and I only compared WWRY (fast). In Pittrek's matrix the bass is more diffuse and sounds a bit distorted, which has an effect on the voice parts and guitar too. In Pittrek's matrix the higher frequencies are at least as clear as in your version. Both versions suffer from a wandering stereo base, which can't be repaired without extremely tedious work. It seems that you did very well in matching the different sources. Or is WWRY (fast) only one source? I can't hear any echo effects or "washed-out" dynamics in your edit. |
neokaden 10.09.2010 01:03 |
I went testing, and seems to listen better, "We will rock you fast" and "Let Me Entertain You." I will continue investigating tomorrow (Since they are 3 in the morning in my country :S ), thank you very much for the advice. With respect to whether one or two sources: For they are two sources, I take about 5 months to find the perfect speed to just not go out "echo" or "washed out", call me thorough or insane xD, but I wanted to stay as perfect as possible . PD: Mediafire Link available |
pogor1 10.09.2010 01:19 |
Yes ,Yes Neokaden,I understand You very well! Because i also trying to create matrix of last night in Buenos Aires 1981 for 9 months already!and it still far from good thing.. |
Nummer2 10.09.2010 02:23 |
I never tried to do a matrix, because I can imagine how difficult it is. With equalizing you get a decent result on most recordings in short time, but of course that's not all you have to do to get a "perfect" result. Noise reduction, removal of errors, stereo separation etc. cost a lot more time, that's why I'm satisfied with a "quick 90% improvement", if I do my own amateur "remasterings". My EQ on your matrix is only a suggestion for such a "quick 90% improvement", and if you take your time, you will get nearer to 100% for sure. Anyway, the most important factor is to use the optimum source recordings! |
neokaden 11.09.2010 03:28 |
Now I tried your way of equalization (although using sound forge), and really noticed an improvement in the sound, or at least is now more balanced and richer are low, although a little lower down. I'll take it into account and evaluated, but for now, leave the songs as well, as all have a similar treatment, it will only reach and implement equalization. PD: Soon ... "Somebody To Love" |
neokaden 12.09.2010 14:06 |
It seems that I have to use another source console "Somebody To Love" as the source of VHS DVD Audio 1979 "Crazy Tour" stinks, has a lot of saturation, and eliminate the noise saturation significantly decreases quality . Anyway, let a sample of this combination, pending if I get a better sound source. I was told there that the video version at 320x240 and WMV format, but has worse image quality (due to its low resolution), has better sound quality than the DVD version of VHS-HQ, will inquire about it. If anyone knows a better source of sound even, I would be very helpful. |
neokaden 12.09.2010 17:56 |
I made two versions of Somebody To Love, the first climb comes without the problem of saturation of voice. But the sound is something "frugal." The second version comes as they've been tuning the other songs. (Soon) link |
neokaden 12.09.2010 19:40 |
Here is the second version, but unfortunately it was impossible to improve the sound without the hum of saturation characteristic of the VHS source. link |
neokaden 19.09.2010 11:08 |
Change of plans. Given that the source of the sound that I have audio console is not of good quality, he decided to get out another version DVD of that concert, which although has less image quality, has better audio quality. Asi probably see soon improvement versioning published songs but delayed launching new songs for now. |
neokaden 22.09.2010 23:56 |
A comparison: Before link After link And that is not yet "final" version of we will rock you |
pittrek 24.09.2010 07:57 |
The second clip needs more bass IMHO |
neokaden 24.09.2010 19:56 |
Yes, a big problem with the "matrix", but fortunately it is solved by setting the audio player equalizer. However, working with the equalizer was much easier to merge if decreased the low audio console. Anyway, I'll keep in mind, I make a revision "2.0", with the new audio version of the concert that I'm down (I lack the torrent seeds) |

A beta version, enhanced stereo (taking into account that there is only mono console versions), low noise, equalized perfectly. I think the way forward, I'm amazing "dont stop me now." Review and enjoy! link |

neokaden wrote: A beta version, enhanced stereo (taking into account that there is only mono console versions), low noise, equalized perfectly. neokaden 17.10.2010 17:57 |
I still have not found gaffes. Now of course the sound is not perfect, nor is 100% stereo, since the same sources that are available are in format mono and low quality, necessitating the use of tools that eliminate the noise, and equalization to sound better. Nevertheless, in my opinion I think if it was a pretty big improvement on other demos of songs he had posted before, and it shows that with better sources of the concert, you can do something very decent. If only I had the stereo sources available, I would not mind having multitrack stereo with me enough. |
neokaden 10.11.2010 22:38 |
more news I uploaded a sample project, I could improve many problems they had in relation to the distortion and even on youtube you can not see much (Why not use FLAC), if I see a big improvement. Enjoy!!! link |

Hi, neokaden, alright ?? meant, like many here, that's Queenzoners support and trust in his project ''matrix'' to get the best quality possible that this is one of my favorite shows of the Queen! This latter sample of "Somebody to Love is fantastic sonically :) Cheer up and keep it engaged !! ;) |
neokaden 27.11.2010 23:15 |
Progress of the project: -I could not correct a small distortion to add stereo effect, this distortion is due to two things, I am applying stereo effect with Sound Forge, and I had to apply noise reduction. Therefore, the final sound will have a small distortion, which in any case, it is worth considering the initial quality of sound. -So far I have mixed 50% of the tracks, I hope to finish before Christmas. (In addition to end for 31 anniversary of the concert) -Anyway, to shovel it, and leave everyone happy, go up 3 versions of the project: a) An audio version of the console, with all relevant arrangements for stereo + EQ and noise reduction. b) A version" matrix ", but with quality mono to reduce distortion thing, but with all the arrangements of equalization and noise reduction. c) A version" matrix "stereo quality, equalization and noise reduction, this version is probably the most elaborate. Sorry for the delay in the project, but I just got out of my university exams. Atte. Neokaden. |
