I was just wondering, how serious fans u guys are? Do you think Queen is like the best band ever, Freddie is God of music ect. ?? Or are are Queen "just" another cool band??.. Personally i wouldn't no other band can't hold the candle to Queen.. Im actually not even sure if Queen are my favorite band.. i very much like other artist like Deep Purple, Rainbow, Bob Dyland and Pink Floyd.. Are Freddie God of music?? : i would say no.. yes he was an amazing singer but he wasn't perfect, at least live his range was often limited compared to studio ect.. There are many other incredible singers out there, that might or might not be better than Freddie.. How are ur opinion about Queen?? |

I LOVE QUEEN. I AM SO OBSESSED, i dont know many other bands or atleast i do but dont take much notice at the members, i just listen to the music and i quite like it, like David Bowie, i only like his one song life of mars, which is a very good song indeed. but Queen are definatly my favorite band XD |
freddiefan91 01.08.2010 09:11 |
I would say im a pretty serious fan, for me Queen are one of the best bands in music history, there are other bands/artists that I like but none come close to Queen IMHO As for Freddie being perfect, nobody is ever perfect but Freddie came pretty close to it and even if his range was limited live he certainlly performed to the best of his ability and had awesome stage prescence |

I love the band and I think their music, their songwriting, their changes in style, their instruments, their concerts, their studio work, etc. are interesting enough to have devoted loads of hours of my life in researching. And I love this forum, as it's been a (minor but still) part of my life for the last decade. But that's it: I don't regard them as deities, I do think there are better guitarists than Dr Wig, etc. |

Sort of a silly thread here......I have hundreds of CD's and tons of favorite artists.... music like carole king/james talyor to the heaviest of music like priest, maiden, slayer. Pianist like Dr. John, Randy newman, professor longhair. But Queen are The only Band I'm still sort of Obsessed with. Even as I hit middle Age my love for the band continues to grow. Maybe they're better guitarists than Dr. Wig, but how many of those guitarist are better songwriter's?....not many!.....how many singer's could sing as many different styles like freddie did?....not many!......So maybe they wern't perfect musicians but they were easily one of the best songwriting bands of all time. |

Queen is by FAR the best band of all time and freddie is by FAR the best singer with the best voice of all time. |

Queen were in fact underated, not overated. They covered more styles on one album than most bands do in a career. An amazing band for sure....only a few are better. |

At the end of the day its all down to choice really, I love everything about Queen and the fact that they had a Queen & PR venture and i like the fact that they were not afraid to do different genres (hot space) for example, they did what they belived in and all 4 of them were fantastic for Queen in every way possible Yeah there is other bands and artists who people may think are better but thats upto other people what they like or dont like As for Freddie being a god of music, i would say he comes in the top of all time music artists, if you think about MIchael Jackson being what people describe as King of Pop then in that case Freddie could be King of Rock |

Im not a fan of MJ its just that ive seen other people mainly the press describe him as King Of Pop which is totally rubbish of course but again its all about taste and opinion its about us lot saying we think Freddie is great and then as i have seen on youtube there is people slagging him off but then the comments hat are made mjust be made by retards going by the standard of the comments |

> It's all about songwriting It's not ALL about songwriting: imagine ANATO written the same way, same chords, lyrics, melodies, modulations... but instead of having Freddie, Brian and Roger singing you had three rejects from X-Factor and BGT; instead of human bass, a Moog playing the same notes; instead of guitar choirs, a kazoo ensemble; instead of drums, Linn programming. So it's not ALL about songwriting. |

I'm a huge fan, but they're not the only band I listen to. I WOULD say they're my favourite band, as they most perfectly encapsulate everything I appreciate in music, songwriting and musicianship. Other bands and artists come very close to capturing my imagination, appealing to my sensibilities and/or challenging my perception of the world, such as Rush, Mike Oldfield, Meat Loaf, Supertramp, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, David Bowie, The Beatles, Barenaked Ladies and a host of others. This is the only music forum I post on, so that probably tells you something. Was Freddie a god? No. But he was a skilled singer, songwriter, musician and dare I say composer, not to mention a showman few others could match. He was certainly influential on these last two generations of frontmen and performers, whether they acknowledge it or not. |

I was instantly excited the first time I heard Killer Queen on the radio at age 13 - midway through the song I realized that it was the best song I had ever heard. This is something that just really got to me quickly. I was exposed to a lot of music growing up, and always had favorite songs going through my head, but when I heard Queen for the first time, something clicked in me. Also, when I saw them perform at Live Aid on TV, I realized I was cold and shaking. I must have been pretty excited to see them. My body told me so. So I was still having that same reaction 10 years or so after first hearing their music and after seeing more than a few of their concerts. I didn't have to analyze the situation. It's probably something a person cannot help - if they have intense feelings about certain music (I'm not saying others start shaking like me - ha). I watched part of a documentary about how the brain can be observed "lighting up" during music that a person really loves. One of the subjects was interviewed and claimed to love Bach. Well, they tested his brain, and sure enough, during a Bach chorale piece (which was very beautiful and stirring), his brain really lit up. They played other classical music for him that he said he didn't care for as much, and his brain also showed this. Less brain activity during the good but less enjoyable (to him) music. I always think it is odd that the people here have such different tastes in music. They will love Queen and also another group that I don't like very much. Or they will love certain Queen songs that I think are not the best. So, I guess there is no real similar taste in music - people all have different tastes and reactions to music. Everyone's top 10 songs would be different. |

To me the three best bands ever are Queen, The Beatles and The Doors. Looking at this I notice there all 4 member bands without any band member exchanges during their active time. They all had a good range in musical style and where excellent in songwriting. Sadly they all had one band member dying too young. I think all these bands are more worth than just the sum of its members. But from all this three bands Queen is by far the most fascinating due to the fact of having the longest active time and the widest range of styles. Perhaps the others could have reached that too, If they would have been still active in the 80ies. Some time ago here were some discussions on the setlists and song orders of some of the queen albums. But in my opinion they did the right decisions on every album. Remembering my first listenings of all the albums I always thought something like "How could they make so different songs on one album and still make it sound like one entity". Of course they didn't make any concept albums, but to me the albums always seemed like musically concept albums, which are more than the sum of the songs. Perhaps some of queens songs aren't that genius, but listening in the order of the album their wealth rises to me. One other impression I had when getting a queen fan was that to me they didn't addept their compositions too much to the band and instead addepted the band to their musical idea. This makes Queen to my favourite band. Although I listen to a lot of other stuff, but in many cases I just like some songs of other bands albums or just a few albums of their whole catalogue (this meaning ignores compilation albums). |
