Hello Queenzoners,
For the sake of more completening my Queen/Solo collection I ordered that LP some days ago and received it yesterday. Having just heard the stuff from "Pre Ordained" before I didn't except much, but I'm positively surprised. This 33 year old LP on my medicore HiFi System seems to sound better than the stuff from the Pre Ordained Bootleg. How where they able to ruin the sound that way ? Pre Ordained sounds so dull.
The Pre Ordained CD contains also the Straker tracks "Tear Down The Walls" and "Black Swan". These seem to be from Strakers "Changeling" album. Where these or/and other songs from that album really produced by Freddie ? John S Stuarts Ultimate Collection states there's just financial supportance of freddie on his other releases.
I found two 7" Singles relating to this album:
Ragtime Piano Joe B/w The Saddest Clown
Jackie B/w I’ve Been To Hell And Back
Sometimes stated as demos or promos. Do that versions differ from the album versions and if so do they also contain Freddies production ? On the album "I've Been To Hell And Back" segues into "The Day The Talkies Came" how was that resolved on the single ?
During these sessions may there be ever used any guide vocals by Freddie, as Freddie did for Billy Squier ? Just would be interesting to hear Freddie singing Alabama Song ^^
The album starts with an a capella section as does Jazz one year later. Did they influence each other or is it just by accident ?
Where all members of the Peter Straker Band gay ? The cover artwork looks much more gay than all Freddie/Solo and Elton John stuff I own.
too much of tired reading for this, this is a man we only know because freddie was a friend to him, he is no interesting figure to us ..... next please
Didn't Freddie work on this album? I'll check my notes later, but I seem to recall he either wrote songs or produced, maybe even played on it?
I'd say that qualifies it for discussion here. I don't have this album, so I can't comment on its quality or technical details.
Some of the songs are very good and you can hear Freddie singing background harmonies. The production has a Queen-like feel to it. Would love to own a nice remastered CD of the Peter Straker albums. Check out this tune: link
Right we only know of Peter Straker because he was a long time friend to Freddie. And I say Thank You So Much, Darling. Here is someone who would have gone unnoticed to us. What a shame that would be, Peter Straker is a very very talented man in his own right. Perhaps they did compare notes on performing and influenced each other to some extent. Now I say who gives a rats ass. I myself want to have CDs, and DVDs of his performances. So please if anyone can help me don't hesitate to contact me. krushdice@yahoo.com
Sincerely
Louise

That song is very influenced by "Somebody To Love".
Thanks for posting it.
