My brother has it. I must say that the title of this thread is weird. While being told you have aspergers isn't great news, I wouldn't describe it as sad news.

WRONG. I do not have severe Asperger's, I'd put it around mild.
greatfulfan's video is silly,
I'm not like that at all,
I can talk properly, i'm not fat, and i dont look like a retard like he dose and i dont wobble around like he dose!!!!!!! Aspergers isnt like that at all, reserch it.
Don't get me wrong greatfulfan, you're a nice person but the video was a bit daft.
(that policeman looks more like he has retardalitus than aspergers) XD
Hi lifetimefanofqueen,
I certainly didn't mean to imply that you were like that policeman! You're right - it is a silly video and doesn't show how a real person with Asperger's would be. It was just a joke because he said he was sad about having found out he had Asperger's, like you said you were sad. I actually know a lot about autism spectrum disorders in general and Asperger's specifically, and given that I shoud have known that you might react this way. So I'm sorry if I frustrated you...just me being silly. :)

Right, I was trying to be nice. You'd put it at mild, but actually, your doctor's would call it SEVERE AUTISM!
Lifetime -
I am close to someone who might have Asperger's syndrome ... but diagnosis is in the initial stages.
I look at your diagnosis as good news ... Is it not good news to know that your depression and illness is not your fault?
Adults typically have an excellent prognosis: link
Symptoms in adulthood
Asperger's syndrome is a lifelong condition, although it tends to stabilize over time, and improvements are often seen. Adults usually obtain a better understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses. They are able to learn social skills and how to read others' social cues. Many people with Asperger's syndrome marry and have children.
Some traits that are typical of Asperger's syndrome, such as attention to detail and focused interests, can increase chances of university and career success. Many people with Asperger's seem to be fascinated with technology, and a common career choice is engineering. But scientific careers are by no means the only areas where people with Asperger's excel. Indeed, many respected historical figures have had symptoms of Asperger's, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and Thomas Jefferson.
