did anyone else see the Golden Globes awards?
the quote of the night it has to be Kate Winslett for forgetting Angelina's name in her acceptance speech..priceless!
plus also i'd like to have a little private gloat at all the British winners on the show and the look of pure joy and bewilderment on the face of Dev Patel who is best known to us lot here in the UK as one of the cast from Skins being part of the multi-winning Slumdog Millionaire cast,a surreal sight if ever there was one with him and Tom Cruise on the same stage together.
also, can someone tell Mr Spielberg that no one in the great scheme of things wants to hear him prattle on about trains and doesnt Ali-G sound a twat in his normal voice?
and a big thumbs up to Mickey Rourke for making pro-wrestling acceptable..
roll on the Oscars, for as a famous director once said
"the Brits are coming, the Brits are coming!"

even if he sounds like a pompous upper class twat in his normal voice?
There's nothing wrong with sounding like an upper-class twat, especially if (like Mr. SBCohen) you are one. For example, Hugh Laurie sounds like any other RP-speaker in his normal voice, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy him acting a role of an American doctor on a tv-show. Besides, if you're educated, you probably learned to pronounce English in RP. Even round here, we're being taught pronunciation at all levels of education with RP being the standard, despite the fact that only 2% (estimate) of English speakers speak "pure" RP. Besides, if people like SBC or HL would suddenly speak a regional dialect or any other variant, it would seem unnatural considering their background and education. That is, if they weren't doing it for comedic effect.
For the sake of clarity. RP=Received pronunciation

theres nothing wrong with having a natural regional dialect,in fact i would much prefer it if more English people used it in their vocabulary instead of a having a monotone 'lardy dar' poncy one forced on them by public schools.
Sid Waddel [famous british darts broadcaster] has a wonderful local northern accent even though he was Cambridge graduated.
dont get me wrong,i like SBC comedic stuff esp Borat and Ali-G but his public school voice is just grating and 'yuppie' and too 'Thatcherite' for my liking.
must be my working class roots showing...
