Dear all, I keep hearing rumours of all shapes and sizes that there's gonna be a Queen Anthology box coming out, filled with stuff that we will all love... those of us on QZ that like Queen, that is, obviously. Someone told me it was going to be 4 Boxes, issued over 8 months, with each one comprising 6 CDs and 1 DVD, but that turned out to be just silly guessing and speculation - and that's neither use nor ornament. The truth is, no-ones knows anything about it. It's pissing me right off, coz I want to work on it, and I don't think I am at the moment... last time I looked. People think I know about all this stuff, but clearly I do not. I'm as clueless as you gals and guys. I must be a useless bastard if I don't even know, after all this time, if I'm supposed to be working on it. Sorry for not being helpful. I'm in a very strange 'get up your nose' type mood this evening. It's working a fair treat here, aye! Shall I go away now? Alright! Fair do's. You couldn't resist looking, though, could you!!! Hello YV, JSS and Benn. Do you feel like beating me with a stick? You are not alone. Good night curious chums. |

Greg, I know you probaly don't get a vote in what gets released and not.. But wouldn't it be a good idea to remaster and rerelease the entire catalogue as a DeLuxe version? A lot of the big bands release stuff as a DeLuxe version these days.. With the remastered album on the first disk, and some alternate takes/outtakes/demo's on the second disk. For some reason I think Queen Productions doesn't release a boxset because they think the big money isn't in rarities (please correct me if I'm wrong) and if you look at Greatest Hits stuff being re-released all the time and only cover the 2 best selling albums on both sides of the Atlantic you guess money comes first. (Something you can't blame a company of course) But this would be a win-win situation. The fans stop moaning about those bloody boxsets. And Queen can release their entire back catalogue with a bonus disk to please the fans. I don't know if you're aware that Genesis did something similar. They released 3 boxsets which each spanned about a decade, with the remastered stereo album and a SACD with 5.1 sound plus some video extra's (interviews, concerts, tv programs from those era's) You know how Brian talks about those 5.1 projects alot and he has said on his soapbox very often that he'd like to do all the albums in 5.1.. This would be a great way to do it. Technology is going SO fast. If Queen keeps up this pace of releasing 5.1 albums it would be a very outdated system when every album is released.. |

Mr Brooks: Normally, I am a reader and not a poster. I read your bullshit and have never really cared to reply to it, BUT where do you thind the time? I mean seriously...any TRUE Queen fan would KILL to have your job. And here you are wasting everyone's time...I mean I know you are probably looked at as the gopher for all the Queen Archive folk...getting their coffee and making them sandwiches (I'm guessing you have snuck a couple for yourself ehh??) You don't even appreciate the job you have...you have access to what all of us crave, yet you still act like a spoiled asshole. I guess if posting bullshit posts on a Queen forum is the highlight of your pathetic day (which how can that beat eating double cheeseburgers from Wendy's??), things can't be too exciting on the Queen archive release front. What? Its summertime and all the REAL folk at Queen production are on vacation and Mr. Brooks doesn't have someone monitoring all the inappropriate homosexual websites? Time to grow up, GET A LIFE...find a girlfriend (or boyfriend) and stop being a parasite on this forum. Some people actually respect Queen. You hinder them. FUCK OFF. |

If a box set is ever released it will always be slightly tainted by the fact GB has worked on it. I mean this is a guy who put two exact same songs onto the FM box set. What will the Queen box set be like? "This is the album version of CLTCL when Freddie had no moustache. Now here's exactly the same version, but Freddie had grown a moustache by this stage." |

Dear Mr Brooks, or dear Greg, I've never met you (to answer another post) and I think it's great that the archivast of Queen is logging into this board once in a while. But the one thing that wonders me (I don't know if ths is correct and proper english) is that you let yourself go with people who really don't have a clue of what you're doing and on which position you are with none influence of what will be released. I don't blame you of not releasing some kind of anthology. I remember quotes of Brian who more then once stated that what wassn't good enough to release at that time isn't good enough to be released at later times. That's up to QP and I hope that they will release outtakes, demo's and obscure live things in my life. What I do understand is the enormous task you have to get trough the vaults and find out what is in it. To stand up for you. I'm a bassplayer in een not very famous band in the Netherlands. We started in 1991 and still excist. I have taken the task on me to digilize everything that we recorded so I have to go to 69 cassette tapes, 25 CD's with things and go on. Sometimes it's on the front what should be inside, but most of the time it isn't or the right source isn't in the thing. So this task is allready consuming me the last couple of weeks. Comparing to Queen this is an easy task because they recorded all over the world for more years and I thing with the same administration. So I wish you good luck with your job and I hope that some day not to far away in the future someone at QP will give the green light to release the rare stuff. My only tip is don't react so offended to some people who aren't worth it. With kind regards Mark |

Maybe Queen should offer the anthology stuff as high quality downloads in the webshop instead of a more physical release. Low costs for Queen Production and most Queen-fans happy. |

Queen will release these when they see fit to at the moment qpr takes up a lot of time and scheduling and there obviously other releases in the pipeline before them so it will be way down the line before this happens. Hey for all we know the cosmos rocks could really do well and tour and it might be the case of going and doing another album in the future. It would be great though if greg could say something like we forsee the project being readied for release in 2012, i'd be happy with that. |

How fucking dare anyone out there make fun of Greg after all he has been through.! He lost his grip on reality, he went a bit mad. He's behaving like a fuckin kid. His employers turned out to be users, cheaters, and now he's going through a flamewar. All you people care about is.. boxsets and taking the piss out off of him. HE'S AN ARCHIVIST! (ah! ooh!) What you don't realize is that Greg is trying to bring you all these rare tracks and all you do is write a bunch of crap about him. He hasn't found a single track worthy of release in years. His latest bullshit post is called "Queen Anthology: 4 Boxes. Each comprising 6 CDs + 1 DVD " for a reason because all you people want is MORE! MORE-MORE, MORE: MORE!. LEAVE HIM ALONE! You are lucky he even writes posts on Queenzone for you BASTARDS! LEAVE GREG ALONE!..Please. John S Stuart talked about professionalism and said if Greg was a professional he would've pulled it off no matter what. Speaking of professionalism, when is it professional to publicly bash someone who is going through a hard time. Leave Greg Alone Please. ! Leave Greg Brooks alone!right now!.I mean it.! Greg, This post almost (but not quite) makes me ant to come to a convention just so that I can stand in front of you and laugh heartily at you for being such a complete dick. You berate people here for posting back "at" you and yet all you've ever done is the self same thing. The fact that QPL do not monitor your activity here leads me to believe that you're just a hired monkey; some kind of gopher that has agreed to jump whenever QPL tells you to. Somehow, the majority of people here think that by being nice to you and pandering to your rantings, they get to feel as if they're in the inner sanctum. What they fail to see is that you're the biggest phoney in the "Queen World" of phoneys. Greg Fans - don't fall in to the trap. This chap has absolutely no power, say or meaningful position within the Queen machine. He's a simple fan (like the rest of us, but with his very own, unique and special internet issues) and can't get anything "done". Greg - please do us a favour and give whoever it is you report to at QPL and tell them that you don't want to do anything for them any more. Your life and ours will be SO much moremanageable. |

OKComputer, re: >>The Who's excellent Maximum RnB set Yep - absolutely awesome and a wonderful template against which all other box sets can be compared. However, there are all kinds of errors, omissions and mistakes on there which are inexcuseable considering that Chris Charlesworth and Jon Astley were involved. They have come to be thought of in the Who community in much the same way that Greg is here - an unnecessary evil incapable of getting anything of such value to the public 100% accurate. I don't understand why Gre makes so many posts (some serious, some not quite so) but only usually only ever follows up on the 'joke' ones. Any posts with serious issues regarding the Queen catalogue are usually never followed up with answers to subsequent posts. I posted several questions directly to Greg (and emailed hm too)about the re-release of the Wembley 86 Live Lp Vinyl Version that were stickered as remixed by Roger, but never received any comment on this genuine query. Oh well. |

I once made a post regarding Gregs professionalism. It has always astounded me that someone in the Queen camp would on occasions leak 'inside' information onto this site and write posts that are sometimes offensive and usually quite vicious in nature. I find it hard to believe that Brian May for one would want to work with someone like this. As a pro musician myself and one who the pleasure of working with some well known people including one or two people surrounding Queen, it is an unspoken rule that as an insider, you don't go around posting offensive crap on websites, especially ones that may give the band and surrounding team a bad name....as Greg Brooks does. I did suggest that the Queen Archivist was not really Greg Brooks, only to receive a personal e-mail that was the equivalent of an attacking rottweiler!! This is a belief that I still hold onto. Just because someone claims to be a person on-line doesn't mean it is them. I find that the Queen Archivist doesn't actually give out much information that we don't already know about whereas John S Stuart's posts are a pleasure to read. By the way, don't bother e-mailing me QA, it'll just go in my spam box! Oh, and I'm John deacon everybody!!! |
