ok, lets have a bit of a debate...
which is better in ur opinion and why?
and also keep in mind probably 90% of us are "free" users, so we like to not have to pay any money for being able to download from websites.
i'll kick the ball rolling...
from what i've experienced in the last month while i've been building my queen collection, mediafire has been the most friendly to me. i am not a money payer to sites which mediafire dont make u pay in order to get decent speeds and pararelle downloads, and they dont make u wait 60 or 70 seconds until you can final download it.
opinions...?
Rapidshare
- fast uploads
- fast downloads
- reliability
Mediafire
- slow uploads
- slow downloads
- extremely limited functionality
- downloads don't often start
- dissapearing links without a reason
- servers are down every moment
- downloads stuff from spyware servers
- full of adds

Do you use Firefox, and the "noscript" extension? That should fix all of those problems.
I do use Firefox, but not the Noscript addon.
Downloads pretty often end with the "Your download is starting" message and continue after numerous pressing of CTRL-R.
For adds I use Adblock of course, but it doesn't catch everything.
I have installed SpywareTerminator, which now always warns me that "the site is downloading code segments from site XY which is reported as dangerous"
Anybody remember "Invalid quickey " ?

obviously u have bought a membership at rapidshare, cos otherwise u wouldn't be saying that it has fast speeds.
I pay for an account at rapidshare, but the upload speeds are rubbish which is why I very rarely upload anything. (40kb/s is the best i've
ever had)
Download speeds are great though and well worth paying for.
Mediafire by far. I've never had any issues with them. And it's brilliant to be able to use my download accelerator to download the files from them. I've also had uploads in the 60KB region. Brill. Oh, and I use Firefox.
Rapidshare's stupid code system is what made me eventually dump it. Especially when they brought in the cats!! How dumb was that??!
Adam.

Rapidshare is never fast anymore. Maybe if you pay but I won't.
Uploadspeed are the same both places I think.
Since I told my firewall to accept mediafire, there haven't been any problems there.
...I have sometimes small problems with mediafire, some links don't work on my computer - I don't know why :(.
I think rapidshare is better than mediafire, but you must pay if you want be premium user.
Sorry for my bad english.
ok then, mediafire is the obvious winner, so why are the majority of posts on rapidshare rather than mediafire...
ALSO... is it possible to share rapidshare accounts? maybe some amazing sharing person could offer their username n password to test it out. thats probably asking too much but this is an open forum and i'm just brainstorming out aloud lol
lately Mediafire is the best option for me
200 KB/s without any obstacle (only at peak hour are slow)
On Rapidshare, lately, download speed has been limited to 59 KB/s and there are a plenty of obtacles for free downloads, is a real nightmare for frequent downloaders
Cheers
