There is a thing here on UK BBC radio, called 'Where Are They Now?'
This is for people trying to trace a long lost friend or ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, or a family member they've lost contact with. Details of where they once lived or worked are read out and then sometimes people are reunited. It's a rather nice concept.
Anyway... I was thinking that perhaps in the I WANT IT ALL! memorabilia book we could do a NOTW Robots Where Are They Now. I mean of course those wonderful old grey (person size) promo robots of 1977.
I would love to hear from anyone who has a robot, no matter what condition. Great, bad, terrible, battered to Hell!!!
Where did they all end up?? What are they doing now?? how many ended up in dustbins, attics, garages, sheds, married, divorced, in prison, on bonfires, or in the old album promotional shop in the sky??
Even if you know where one ended up but you don't have it now, it would be good to know. But most of all I'd like a photo or two of the surviving robots.
Brian May has one. My friend in Holland has one. A guy in Belgium was selling a FAB condition one a few years ago.
Please write to me with your Robot anecdotes, updates, photos, to gb.queen_archive@btinternet.com Please title your email NOTW ROBOT, otherwise it will be filtered away by my spam filter.
By the way... I CANNOT find one single photo on the internet to direct you at - for those of you unsure about what I'm referring to.
Thanks

Can you not take a pic of your friend's one, or of Brian's??
This one is in Paris : Monster Melody Shop. The red record holder frame is still part of the robot ! I took this picture in 2002. I went to see it again in 2005 and it was still alive and holding !! :P link

If I'm not mistaking the French shop wants around 1500+ euro's for it.
I don't know if he really wants to sell it. There's no pricetag on it. The owner of this shop always been a strange chap and he said each time different prices to discourage most of us. The Name of the shop is MONSTER MELODY, in Paris. More details can be found in google.
ANAGRAMER:
"I remember seeing one in HMV in Glasgow 1977 - scary! - Ran away to my mother!!"
I remember seeing it too.. but the Record Store at the time was "Listen".
I worked for E.M.I (manchester sq )in the 80's and took one of the robots home with me on the tube.I kept it in my bedroom for years then it went into the attic and we left it there when we moved.
I often wonder if it's still up there and if the current owners would think i was mad if i asked to look in their loft for a 5ft tall plastic robot!
