Hi, dear Queenzoners! I'd love if you helped "build" my 4-cd Queen bootleg collection. I'll keep, whenever time allows, listening to other concerts, but I'll burn only 4 cds, which I want to have as part of my "eternal" collection, I don't need more than that. Here's my plan: I thought of burning two concerts from the 70's - one from the early, the other from the late 70's - and the same goes for the 80's. I have already burned the first cd: it's Portland, 1974, as shared here by Pittrek (thank you, thank you, thank you, and thanks to all those who made it available in such a good quality). Now, late 70's. Kampuchea is out of the "the game" (lol) because it's my favorite Queen concert and I lost count of how many versions of it I have and don't even know how many there are and if mine are indeed the best avaiable (I have a lossy one, a silver one from an obscure label with an obscure title and a pretty bad sound quality and also incomplete, and I have the one released by Gypsy Eye). I have an avi video of the concert, also incomplete but very good quality, and I can't never decide whether I pay attention to Freddie's technique, which is, in my most humble opinion, in its all time high, or to his beauty figure on stage (so...well, girl thing lol). What would you suggest me from the late 70's? I'm kind of inclined to Earl Court but it'd be...I don't know...too obvious, I have listented to it a lot already, you know, it's not...it's as if I were chosing another of the Hammersmith 79 kind, all perfect, great performance, great quality, oficially "tainted" (lol) and etc. So, it'd have to be another one: a good performance, good sound quality, by no means it needs to be a great or perfect performance, some people have already noticed that I in fact enjoy much more those that are considered the worst concerts. So... Ball is in your...how do we say that? Ball is in your...side? Well, it's with you, that's what I wanted to say. The good old 80's which I miss so much - I lived almost a whole year in the 80's! -...what do you recommend me downloading and burning? I have the CD and the DVD of Milton Keynes and Rock Montreal, both from Hot Space Tour, both quite good. I love the Konzert in Wien, 1982, which was my first re-seed (a quite successfull one, I should say, more than 300 downloads, I guess, and I wonder how many people are not calling me names because I made such a fuss about the concert and they don't think it's all that hot...lol), but I listened to it to exhaustion, I had enough of it, in fact I want to forget it and get rid of it because it's too fresh in my memory and I don't like that, it tampers with my listening to other stuff and the problem is that I have a kind of good memory for music and if I don't forget things I get crazy. So...early 80's, what's the real deal, the thing, that one you think you'll never stop listening to for the rest of your lives? And finally, well, I do have the CD and DVD of Wembley, 86', I hate that cd "live magic" and...what else, I like their performance in Rock in Rio, 85', but also listented to it a lot. So, from the Works or Magic tour, what do you recommend me? That's it. The reason I'm doing this is obvious: it's not a secret that I'm, so to speak, a bit insecure. lol And, yes, I can hardly take any decision by myself, and I ask help for chosing pretty much anything, that's the way I am, it's boring, I try to avoid it because it's, you know, no one likes people like that, but I can't avoid being me all the time, so...help! That's it. Thank you all, so much, you have been so gentle and kind towards myself. I have learned a lot since I joined Queenzone and, well, in fact, most of the little I know about Queen I learned here with very sweet and interesting people. And so...that's it...and, well, goodbye, isn't it? I mean...I'm finished. lol Take care you all. I'll soon go to sleep because I'm |

Serry... wrote: link - GH knows his stuff. That's amazing, thanks Serry...! Thank you so much! I loved the way the concerts are organized - first according to the quality of the performance, then according to the sound quality, very good work, SirGH!!! He knows it all, that's for sure! So, that was an awesome start and it narrowed down the "field", I don't even know if I'm making sense anymore, just tired. lol If you could pick only one of those from the late 70's and the early and late 80's, which one would you chose, Serry...? Is there any in particular that you're specially attached to and think you'll still listen to it for a good deal of time? If there is, and time allows, would you be so kind as to talk a bit about the concert and so on? Thanks for the quick answer and the help! What a great website, SirGH, and it did make my quest easier, for sure. Instead of many thanks, just one, big thank. lol |

Donna13 wrote:Sorry, I had to step in to speak the truth and help my dear friend. Felix uttered only vicious lies about Yara. She never accused anyone of making fun of her and she wasn't punished at all, it was the other way around. She was praised for her courage and for going as far as entering the stage even though suffering from stage fright. We are all very proud of her and she's the most beautiful person I have ever met. People like her a lot and she's by no means forced to enter the stage. On the contrary, we try to talk her out of it when we know she's getting too anxious.Felixk wrote:Felixk, I don't think that it is all OK now. That is because I think you are abusive towards Yara. When you say that her low self esteem is what made you say those horrible things to her here, that is a sign that you are an abuser. You need to get help, if you want to stay out of prison. The first sign of an abuser is verbal abuse. This is where it usually starts. Then it often escalates over time into physical abuse. (I'm not an expert on this subject but I do have some friends that volunteer at a crisis center.) You need to recognize that you have a problem. I'm sure there are many websites where you can look up this problem, see if you fit the profile, and admit to yourself that you need help, if that is the case. If you care for Yara, as you seem to, now is the time to get that help. (Hey, this is a thread about advice, so....)Donna13 wrote:Don't get me wrong, she's not a bad person. It's not as if she committed a crime or anything like that. The word "punishment" makes it look worse and uglier than it actually is. We do know each other, but we talked privately and it's all ok now, and I'd never have mentioned it hadn't I offended her here first. I had the duty of coming up and saying sorry. That's all. She's a very shy, self-effacing, but otherwise wonderful girl. We had some issues, but it's all ok now and it was my last word about it.Felixk, are you saying you know this girl, Yara, in "real life"? When you say she got punished by the administration, are you referring to the school that you are both attending or are affiliated with? She wouldn't do harm to a bee, and I take the example from "real life". A scary bee made it into the library and people wouldn't go on reading because everyone wanted to be sure that the bee was kept at a safe distance from their necks. The bee landed on our table, just in front of Yara, and people gathered to crush the bee, only to notice, much to their surprise, that Yara was already engaged in a conversation with the insect: "Hi, Bee!", she said. It was so natural that people started to feel sympathy for the poor bee and decided to drive it out of the library instead of crushing it. Not really the kind of dangerous person, as you see. You may think whatever you want about talking to bees, and I'd probably agree with you, but Yara is just unable to do harm to anyone. Sorry for stepping in and making this thread probably longer and much more personal than it should be. I had to set the record straight, though. |

lol Hiii!!!! What a surprise!!! Thank you for the kind and sweet words which I'm sure not worthy of. Very kind of you all guys. The bee! The bee story...well, it was not really like that...I have a different version of the incident...lol. Long before our fellows came to kill the bee, we had already gotten past the greetings, the bee and me. I got kind of sad when they did away with the bee, we were getting friends. ;-)) I still suspect someone killed the bee because I don't remember it flying away and I have a good memory. But I won't fight over what really happened that day. ;-)) Thanks, it was very kind of you, really. And that's it, let's not personalize neither the thread nor the forum. I still want suggestions as to what concerts should make into my collection - I need three more, one from the late 70's, one from the early 80's and one from the mid-80's! And...I will make my own mind! I just want to know other people's thoughts about their favorite concerts and then make my decision.:-) Thanks for suggesting Budapest 86'! The copy I listened to had a lot of distortion and speed problems, but I remember the show was good, indeed. Thanks! That's a good one. |

Oh, dear, sorry Donna13. He's a good friend, don't worry, I asked him to register and Felix just jumped on the bandwagon without telling me anything about it, I am deeply sorry for what has happened, it was really my fault, I shouldn't have talked about queenzone and realized that the likelihood of people coming in and bringing personal feelings was very high, I should have guessed it, we're responsible for the consequences of our action that we can anticipate, I could anticipate, but I failed to and it was my fault, Marcus is really a very nice guy, he was the one I asked to register, and I talked about the forum and so on, and then Felix not only registered but caused all that trouble. I'm responsible too and I think it'd be fair if I were banned because I should have been more careful about it and I wasn't, and I'd accept a ban without protest and as a fair response to what I did, but I do like you guys and threads and all and I wish the best to the community, I'm sorrry for all that happened and I won't think badly of the community if I were banned because I gave reasons for it and there are many nice people here and I did enjoy the threads and the shares and all that, and sorry for writing too fast and sure making so many mistakes, I have to go now but I wanted to thank you for the support and say that he's no problem, Marcus, he joined because I asked him and only wrote that, I talked to him, because he thought he should, he's not a bad guy at all, and that's it, and thank you again, I have to go, but thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, dear! Sorry about all that happened. |
Mr Mercury 22.04.2008 14:02 |
Yara, I dont think there is any need for you to say sorry, as you are not directly responsible for the actions of others. If Marcus is anything like yourself, then I hope he sticks around as its nice to see some decent threads coming to the fore. I find your posts fascinating to be honest - so keep them going my friend. I find that they spark a good debate. For instance, in this thread you asked about certain concerts. Its nice to read what everyone thinks and get differing views. For instance, the Drammen 82 gig. I would never have paid that much attention to it if I hadnt read what was said about it. Similarly the Works tour. As for the Magic Tour, I am not that enamoured with it to be honest. What I mean by that is I did enjoy it (I went to the Knebworth gig which was brilliant) but it was too much of a "hit laden" set. I would have loved to hear some lesser known album tracks done live. Thats just my opinion though. By the way, I know someone else who speaks highly of your good self - a certain person who posts under the name of Roger Meadow's Tailor!!! He is my brother after all.... |
