There was a discussion on a trading/swapping topic on the values of cassettes (tapes). Will they become rare? Well, I have some and I think every item will become rare if you hold on to it long enough...
I can't recall anybody mentioning anything about 8-track tapes, you know the ones you could play in car stereos. Many radiostudios used to use 8-trackplayers as jinglemachines. There were some taperecorders for home use.
Are there any Queen albums on 8-track tapes? link
I have most of them. What's of interest, at least for me, is the order of the songs are different to fit onto the 4 programs on the tape. There also face outs and fade ins when a song is continued from one program to the other.
Collecting 8-tracks are fun -- it's cheap and it's a whole little subculture.

UK 8 Tracks exist also. I will be adding them to Queenpedia shortly. I am waiting on somebody e-mailing me scans of all the UK 8 track releases.
