It's not the settings on your laptop exactly... the problem is how the image file is written, not how it's displayed.
I would recommend you download IrfanView if you don't have it. : link
What you need to do is open up the picture to convert in IrfanView and "save as" a JPEG (or, better yet, a PNG).
If you already have another graphics programme that can open the Kodak files, see if you can open them and then "save as" another file type.
My dad uses IrfanView to re-size (if they're really huge, and the person viewing them will not be printing them out, you might want to make them smaller) and convert his photos (I showed him how :p). :D

What programme do you use in the first place for them ? - like, getting them off a camera or... ? link
I'm not sure if that's the same thing... I looked up ".art" files and got a LOT of different results. :P

it appears to be the same thing as i am on AOL.
i went on a site that has pics of my village and when i click on them it says JPEG but when i save them and click on them from my documents i comes up as a kodak ART file,so im none the wiser why it does that..lol
Yeah AOL is the problem I think. I can't believe they're still doing that .art shit.
I would suggest you just use AOL for connection only and get a real browser and an email at someplace like Gmail ;)

i know that when it comes to the internet im interNOT but it is bloody annoying when it does that.it lets me view the pic but when i try to email the pic it goes all tits up.
this ol' pc went out with the ark it has hyroglyphics instead of letters so its about time i got a decent one,it wont even let me get onto hotmail.com anymore :-[
You could try : link
And get "Firefox".
Or you could try the AOL browser help files and see if there's any way to get it to stop automatically converting to .art files.
