To all those who have suffered from the death of a loved one due to the terrible HIV/AIDS virus and those who are/have suffered :
Still a cure has not been found and we (as a family) must live with this terrible and horrific disease. God bless all those who have tragically lost their lives due to AIDS. You are missed and loved by all those who have been touched by your presence. You shall not die in vain, rather you will rejoice in heaven along with your friends and family.
You may share your thoughts and feelings regarding this terrible disease. It would be helpful for those who might be suffering or are curious as to the effects of such a disease.
Not to sound cold or uncaring, but there are Heart Attacks, Liver Failures, Drunk Diving deaths, and other natural causes that are just as important.
With HIV/AIDS, sometimes one's behaviour comes into play when acquiring. In those cases, I really don't think Angels are rejoicing in Heaven for them. But then, maybe they are.
The Lakers could sure use Magic Johnson right now.
I know there's a horrific problem worldwide particularly in Africa, but sometimes I wonder if we're giving the right information. Babies continually are born with AIDS. Not just HIV, but AIDS. Which probably means they were conceived with HIV. Maybe we should teach them other things to do than have sex. Like harvesting corn. Or how to start a fire and boil your water. Instead we give them condoms and send some NBA player whose got 11 illegitimate kids on some PR campaign. No I wasn't talking about Shawn Kemp.

well, half the problem with AIDS in Africa is down to the fact that they cant get condoms due to the religous stance of the nations involved[ie being roman catholic].if that was sorted out i seriously believe that the disease would become less widespread.the vatican should set a far better example on that regard.
on a second note,im sure you are aware that the virus can be passed on via contaminated blood transfusions and with medical equipment and screenings being on short supply to these "third world" countries, these things dont deter the outbreak any less.
you dont need to be sexually active or a drug user to contract this disease.
Yes, Joe, I know that. But you CAN get it from sex, right? Ok. So telling these people to keep on poking each other and mix in a condom every once in a while is OK. Now you bring religion into this? We're not going to start the blaming game again, I hope.
They are poor. They are uneducated. They don't have homes, really. So why not attack the situation there instead of wanting to hand out condoms with bumper stickers that say "Keep on Truckin'"?
Teach them how to read & write. Teach them how to build things. They don't need Jesus, they need a future. Then, and only then, should having kids be an option.
So instead of blaming religious groups for not allowing condoms, blame these rich churces for not sending that future, not keeping condoms from them. The Aids rate is not going down. Handing out condoms isn't working.
Seems to me you are overlooking the fact that women are treated inhumanely in many African countries. I don't think many rapists are going to take the time to slap on a condom. These women don't contract HIV because they are poor and uneducated, they get it because they live in a society where it's ok to abuse them.

Oh, wow. I didn't know that every aids victim (woman) was victimized. You would think the rapists would have Aids too. But I guess not.
You're right. Poverty and education have no connection to the problems in Africa. It's all the rapists.
I understand that some of you find me abrasive, but this idea, while in some cases is true, is pretty silly and if you'll forgive me, stupid.
I'm not sure if any of you knew this before but in many southern African nations where there are many albinos, a common superstition that having sex with an albino virgin cures AIDS. So, you know, they rape albino women and ummm...spread more AIDS. Real sad. :(
