This is very sad; I'm just watching a long report dedicated to him on Russian TV... |

i would like to think he will be remembered for being the first elected leader of a modern russia and changing the face of the country but i've a feeling it will be as a drunken old man who danced and conducted german orchestras BADLY. |

He did some good things although not everything worked out that well. His other face was the one of a drunk old man. Anyway.. they don't have to make big efforts to cremate him. Just a small flame is enough to make his body disappear, as 90% of the liquids inside of him is alcohol. |

I will surely dedicate an icy and refreshing beverage to Mr Yeltsin this evening. |

I would like to see what other world leaders do when they're drunk: Bush - Go fishing and pass out, then wake up and have another. Blair - Insist that he's not drunk. Then pass out. Chavez - barfight Hussein - he'd just hang around. I thank you. Prime Minister Stephen Harper - another fight, then a hockey game would break out and he'd pass out. Yeltsin could have drinken them all under the table!!! From a westerner's standpoint, he seemed like a pretty good leader, too bad he gets to be blamed for the fall of Russia. It wasn't all his fault. |

At least I'm happy that currently Russian TV is reporting only good things about Yeltsin... The fact that he had drunk does not make him autamatically a bad person. In all reports I've seen so far, people who were near to him kept saying that he was a warm and sincere person who liked to laugh... |
Gratzi 24.04.2007 13:55 |
It is, however, well-known that the Yeltsin era was one of political turmoil in Russia and severe economic crisis. He was just unfortunate to be the leader of Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union, turning point which made him extremely unpopular by the time he had left the office. |
FriedChicken 24.04.2007 15:12 |
There has always been political turmoil and economical crisis in Russia |
