Yeah, Freddie would look loads like that if he made it his goal in life to change every defining aspect of his face to match a Levantine archetype.
He sounds like Freddie about as much as the guy in "300" looked like Xerxes.

Mika's one of those wannabe Freddies, recommended by Brian, and thought (by a lot of people) to posses amazing qualities just like Freddie. Think of it like The Darkness and My Chemical Romance being compared to Queen. . .He looks nothing like him. And doesn't sound like him either. But he probably thinks that trying to be like Freddie....or even using reverse psychology and being humble about it, will help him gain popularity. The song Grace Kelly is catchy, I agree. But as soon as one hears it 1,000,000,000,000 times on peoples' profiles on myspace, one can go crazy. It's not THAT special. It's unique, yes. I'd say Mika doesn't measure up to a mere toe-nail of Freddie's. Just my opinion though. *is prepared to be torn apart by obsessive Mika fans* Bottom line: He tries too hard. As a new artist.
Oh look! Another Mika topic to count. Haha
So I went to YouTube and watched this video of this Mika guy.
Well... he said "Freddie".
Wow.
He sounds like someone else... I just can't place who he reminds me of. He sounds more "British" than Freddie... or noticeably affected. I never thought Freddie had much of an accent.
Um... he's not that bad - but his falsetto is "scary" (it's "harsh" - ear-splitting, even). He sounds more like Prince in that respect.
This song "Love Today", to my ears, has more in common with Prince than Queen in general. I can hear this guy singing "Kiss".
I think he actually has a nice-sounding voice - I just wish he would cut the shit with the excessive harsh falsetto (or maybe he does - but not on the two I heard).

Far from it, actually.

Reverse psychology? Pffft.

Nah.. He tries as hard as any new artist would. One needs to try to achieve success!

Yes. ;)

shut up shut up shut up shut up!!!!!
None of us need to hear about mika anymore. sure maybe hes a great artist, but no comparison to Queen or Freddie. So no more Mika on a QUEEN fansite. Thank you!
I LOVE his album! It is original, clearly influenced by more artists than only Freddie or Queen, and absolutely positive. I think it is one of the best releases since Freddie has left us. I love the whole range of songs, the differnces, and i even sometimes think i'm listening to mister Wobbie Williams...And i love that guy too... it is NOT about who is trying to copy or be who...NO! Mika had a few songs, recorded them brilliantly and if people want to compare...let them. Music is not meant to be compared. Music is entertainment. And Mika entertains. Me anyway! And the songs and clip are delightfully poppy, catchy and about nothing at all...he is not (like Mr. George Michael) a priest telling the world what to do...he is not trying to teach or improve..he's only entertaining....(quote Freddie: it's disposable pop, you consume it like a coca cola: you listen to one song, and then you move on to another....). In my humble opinion, we should be happy that there is still a reative mind out there, who is refreshingly clever and has a nice approach to the musicbizz. YES, i like the bloke and his music. And if this was a debutalbum, i can't wait till the next! I hope he'll turn out to be a true new star, and that he will keep on entertaining as he has now started to to. He has nothing to do with Queen, as had Queen nothing to do with Led Zeppelin, to whom they were constantly compared in the late sixtees, early seventies....people never seem to stop doing this...and it proves that the masses are still so dumb...still comparing after 40 years...and it is not even about that....Mika is an artist in his own right, and proud of his most important influences: Queen for instance..and THAT should fill the hearts of TRUE Queenfans with pride, and a warm feeling. I feel, because of a guy like Mika, that i chose the right band in the past...and if i were a musician, i too, would be very very proud about the good taste and choice of influence-source i have...especially if it was Queen! Not to forget to mention that i wpould love to master music that well, that i could make new songs that good, that others would say: wooow...that sounds just as nice and poppy and creative as Queen! If i were a musician? THAT would be the crown on my work! The confimation i did it right! So...stop comparingMika to Queen and / or Freddie...and start listening to what the guy really made!
could we all wait for mika to have another few hits and albums ?
i love grace kelly, but he's a one hit wonder for now in my opinion, not that it's bad ;-)...and he does not sound like freedie, a few sounds or twitches dont make him more than the influences he has grown with.
In the song Mika doesn't say that he wants to be like Freddie. While he was looking for a label, the companies wanted him to have a particular style in order to please them(hence the Grace Kelly-Freddie thing)but Mika wanted to have his own voice and style.
