I think Paul is a very good singer, but I'm not interested in his music that much. Obviously, Paul sings his own songs really well. However, I must say he struggled with many Queen songs. Just yesterday, I listened to ROTC in my car. I always like to listen to concerts in audio because you can judge the performance much better. And, I have to say, Paul didn't sound too good, except when singing his own songs. During the tour, Queen+PR had to change key to many songs. In spite of that, the result wasn't overwhelming. Paul especially struggled during the second part of the concert. In any case, I think he's a very important rock singer and I wish him well. It won't change my opinion on his singing of Queen songs.
He is a good singer of his own songs but not Queen songs that is the way Freddie and the rest of the group wrote them to fit freddies voice there are alot of singers and bands that do that. But Ill save my money for something else
Just because Paul doesn't sing the songs like Freddie doesn't mean he was "struggling" to sing them. Paul is just as good a live singer as Freddie was... just in different ways! It's amazing how closed-minded some people can be when their fandom for Freddie gets in the way.
As for the new release, I think I'll pass because I've got the Bad Company "Merchants Of Cool" DVD from a few years back... it's fantastic! But who knows, maybe I'll cave, since there are some Free and Firm tracks on the new one.
Im going for it! I saw him on his tour last year and was amazed. He doesnt deserve the hard time he's got - but then again a lot of new lead singers who are takin the place of a great will get recieved like he has. He is a great in his own right. That's why I'll be buying it.
well said to mr gh, hes as good a singer as freddie live, just in different ways and he didnt strugle with any of the songs, an the new cd is great, well worth geting if your into paul rodgers.
LOVE Paul Rodgers especially in FREE and Queen! Free (like Queen) was one of the BEST rock groups EVER! ...and yes I intend to buy this product either now or later that is...
