Rules: only serious opinions about the song, no "I like to stick lightbulbs in my anus while I listen to this song". Song: Love Of My Life First Heard: Live at Wembley 1986 DVD Mood When Heard: Sad People it Reminds You Of:my Ex-Girlfriend Opinion: I love this song, it helps me when I am sad. It feels so well made. It proved that Queen could produce a proper love song. when this disscussion dies, a new one will spawn for a different song. if I don't make the topic, then consider the series over. |

'I like to stick lightbulbs in my...' JOKING When it comes to ANATO's 'Love of My Life', well frankly, as beautiful a song as it is, I find it a bit dull and have to be in the right mood to listen to it. When it comes to live versions, such as your Wembley, yes I love it. I don't know if 'raw' is the correct word for a song like 'Love of My Life' but Freddie's vocals do sound very powerful. However what makes the Wembley version so good is the huge audience joining in. Freddie's vocals have been better on seperate occasions. |

I love Love Of My Love. There's nothing more to say, really. It's a beautiful song and every time I hear it, I can feel the tears coming to my eyes. Freddie's vocals in this song feel so powerful, especially when he sings, "Hurry back, hurry back, please bring it back home to me". That part especially wrenches my heart. Ok, I know I song very sappy, but that's how I feel. Love Of My Life - the lovely song in my life! |

obviuosly this wasn't the best song to start the series with. |

Song: Love Of My Life. First Heard: A Night At The Opera. Mood When Heard: Tired. People it Reminds You Of: No-one, really. Opinion: It's a very pretty song, and I love it very much, but is not my favorite of Freddie's love songs of the '70s. That honor goes to You Take My Breath Away. |

Most beautiful song in the catalogue. One of the finest vocal performances of the rock era. And obviously the live version is another beast altogether, with it's own beauty. Freddie was at the peak of his playing and writng powers on ANATO, it shows here. Good idea for a thread BTW. Don't be discouraged by the lack of early responses, QZ is in a funk of good discussions at the present time. |

Song: Love Of My Life First Heard: Live at Wembley 1986, at YouTube Mood When Heard: Thinking People it Reminds You Of: Like all love songs, my kind of ex girlfriend (that's a lie, she has been my friend at best) Opinion: Best fucking love song ever. Maybe beaten by White Queen, Somebody to Love, It's Late, Save Me, It's a Hard Life and... That's kinda it. The cream of Queen ballads, anyway. Wonderful song. |

well, this seems to have become a single opinion topic, Queenzone needs a shit load of these types of topics, one for each song, album, and tour, that would drown the spam for long egnough to take QZ to its former glory. anyway, the next topic shall be for Teo Toriate. don't complian that I am only doing 70s songs, they are ussally better anyway. |

Song: Love Of My Life First Heard: Radio 1 FM station. Someone called "Mary" requested for this song to be played and it was then that I first heard it and was taken back by everything in the song. Then I later on bought the CD Live At The Bowl and admired it even more. :) Mood When Heard: Amazed. People it Reminds You Of: Brian and Freddie live at a gig playing and singing together. Opinion: One of my favourite Queen songs. |

Song: Love Of My Life. First Heard: Live At Wembley dvd Mood When Heard: Curious People it Reminds You Of: My boyfriend during our break up Opinion: I love it, it kind of makes me sad at times, but I realize how much I do love my boyfriend too. |

Song: Love Of My Life First Heard: Live At Wembley DVD Mood When Heard: Nostalgic People it Reminds You Of: Freddie Opinion: I find it drags on a bit. The melody doesn't quite do it for me, though it does have some nice sections. And the piano part in the middle is fabulous. |

Song: Love Of My Life. First Heard: A Night At The Opera. 1975 Mood When Heard: unimpressed People it Reminds You Of: a mate who gave me his copy of the album in late 75...i was only 13 and couldn't afford to buy it. Opinion: As "Freddie Ballads" go...mediocre/dull...yes the arrnagement is intricate and delicate...but hey...he wrote so very many better slow numbers... Lily, You Take My Breath Away, Millionaire Waltz and the perfect Nevermore |

Song: Love Of My Life First Heard: A night at the opera Mood When Heard: Excited People it Reminds You Of: Renee Opinion: Moving, love the Mozart piece in the middle. I wish they would have tried a live version with Freddie on piano. |

Song: Love Of My Life First Heard: Live at Wembley Mood: Intrigued People it Reminded Me Of: My Parents Opinion: It's a very relaxing and heart-warming song. The lyrics are among the most powerful I've ever heard in a Queen song. |

Song: Love Of My Life First Heard: Live At Wembley 86 Mood: Nonplussed People it Reminded Me Of: no-one particularly Opinion: The studio version of the song has grown on me in recent times, which I prefer over the live interpretations...probably Freddie's best ballad. Just a pity that the studio arrangement was never performed live. |

First Heard: ANATO Mood: Sympathy Reminds me of: Queen (I don't know of anyone else to put) Opinion: I love this song. It has beautiful piano and has a lot of emotion and soul to it. The vocals are incredible and blend very well. Overall, it is a wonderful song. |

Song: Love of My Life First heard: ANATO Mood when heard: Bittersweet People it reminds you of: nobody in particular Opinion: Lovely song; I like the way on ANATO it transitions from Prophet's Song to Love of My Life; deceptively simple. I also like the live version with just Freddie singing and Brian playing acoustic guitar. My husband made me angry when he implied that the audience often sang along to this song at concerts because it was such a "simple" song. |

First heard: A Night at the Opera I think it's a nice song, but like someone else posted, it's a but dull sometimes and I have to be in the right mood. I usually skip it. I like the live-versions better. But then again, I like "Is this the Word we Created...?" much more than "Love of my Life"... |
mike hunt 18.04.2007 00:35 |
love of my life is simply one of my favorite songs of all time. I love both the live and studio versions, but the studio version has the clear edge. I think the prophet song, love of my life and bo rhap might be the three greatest queen songs ever. |
Dusta 02.07.2007 22:47 |
Song: Love Of My Life. First Heard: A Night At The Opera. Mood When Heard: Lonely People it Reminds You Of: I first heard this song the first time I heard ANATO. I was thirteen, and, in the basement bedroom of my friends older brother. I thought the vocals were so...powerfully emotional. I had just moved to a new state(for the seventh time),and, had to leave behind some of my horses and cats. So, who does it remind me of? Horses and cats. |

Song: Love Of My Life. First Heard: A Night At The Opera back in 92 or 93 Mood When Heard: Excited - my very first real Queen album (had GH 1&2). Remember thinking the song was a bit dull after being blown away by DOTL and Prophet's Song... People it Reminds You Of: no-one at all. Opinion: Its one of their best ballads, fits in perfectly within ANATO. Don't so much like it live. Love the harp in the song. |
