This was a just a bit of fun and I thought I'd upload it to see what you all think. Its how I think a Queen + Paul Rodgers concert should/could of started like instead of using Eminem's song.It includes all of Fat Bottomed Girls from Return of The Champions as in my setlist this would of been the 1st track but leading up to this track there is a tiny part of One Vision (the intro part), Flash Gordon, a tiny part of Brian's guitar solo (from Return of the Champions)and the crowd noise is from AC/DC's Stiff Upper Lip Live DVD. The reason I chose parts of One Vision & Flash is because they were used as the intro tape music for my 2 favourite Queen tours, The Magic Tour & The Hotspace Tour.
I enjoyed making this I hope you enjoy listening to it and can give me some advice on how to improve it. link
Enjoy !! (Please leave feedback)
Pretty good -- you're right, it's reminiscent of other Queen intros to concerts. They were never super-innovative with those, and your mix is kinda in that vein, just playing a few bits of songs that kinda run together. Nothing wrong with that.
I personally like the intro that was at the concerts, mostly because it *was* an innovative remix and they recognized it and promoted it.
But here's another example of what I like in a "live" remix: link
Although I liked both of them, I have to say that I liked the second one more. If QPR did use Dobo's mix, they would have to use it as the first song in their setlist as I dont imagine them playing a tape version first then doing it live later.
The idea is Fat Bottomed Girls is not taped its the 1st song in the setlist and as they havn't played Flash or One Vision live I dont understand what you are saying, the intro finishes when Fat Bottomed Girls starts so Fat Bottomed Girls isn't taped its Live.
Sorry, I misunderstood you then. I assumed that the taped Eminem bit was gonna be replaced by this mix, then followed by the taped Freddie intro and that the original setlist would start as normal with Reaching Out, etc.
First one is poorly constructed. Just for trying to throw those things together and hoping they stick. And this is an intro?? Intro has thought behind it, which is why the IABD one made by Serry(?) was used. It made sense and would lend itself very well.
That 2nd one I've heard before. There is a nice idea on what can be done. Someone has obviously put some thought into it. Especially listen for the little Freddie bits that make you believe in the premise, also. Nicely done.
Adam.

Sergey = DJ Koma, I believe. The backing synth track is by Ross Robertson = Floss.
The M. Bublitz track I re-rapidshared came out of a mailing list of fanmixes I was a part of almost ten years ago.
dobo -- I realize this was a bit of fun, and you've asked for advice. As I said before, there's a huge difference between what Queen would compose for their intros and a real "remix" -- the closest they ever came to that was the "Machines" intro. If you're content with composing an intro medley, you should keep a few things in mind:
1) Start out ethereal, add a beat the audience can clap to, and end on a drawn-out note from which the first song can start. I believe you got this one just fine.
2) Give each clip near-equal time. There's too much Flash here, and what's interesting is that the Flash beat will fit under almost anything, and you haven't used that.
3) If you're going to overlay clips, like you did with Flash and Brian's guitar solo, feel free to alter one or the other to make them fit seamlessly. I had some trouble with my recent "Furia the Deep" on this count, so I'll grant it isn't easy and takes lots of time.
Ok so #3 applies to any remix really. Hopefully this is the helpful advice you were looking for!
