Why is everyone on this website to quick to attack Mika for his comparison to Freddie? I think he's a real cool dude with an awesome voice. His music instills a feeling in me that I normally get when listening to Queen. There's something about his attitude that's so carefree and playful that reminds me so much our favorite frontman. We should be sending him praise for reminding us of Freddie and not ripping him to shreds. At least he's not trying to fill Freddie's shoe's like Paul. He's just paying tribute. And in my very humble opinion, this guy is the closest (even though he is still pretty far) to Freddie's stage presence. |

He got a great voice. It sounds somewhat like Freddie's, absolutely. And now get his biggest fan ever, Brian May, write him some songs and then you have the best artist to emerge in the '00s. But the music he writes himself is extremely mediocre. |
thomasquinn 32989 29.03.2007 11:12 |
The way he performs it too. He could be good, but not with what he's doing right now: he's simply trying too damn hard. |
BernieW99 29.03.2007 11:30 |
now now if he wants to sound or be like Freddie well let him we know hes not even close.Hell if Roger said Paul was one of Freddies favs hell next thing we know Brian can say Mika was to from his grave that he must be turning in, anyway he dont want to be like Freddie he has said and he dant think anyone will ever be as good as him so now lets rest this mika smack for another day. |

(ahem) Isn't there.... somewhere... a Mika forum you people can go talk at?? Every 2nd fucking thread I see these days is about Mika. I like the guy fine, and I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming he'll get better, he's new.... But REALLY.... come on. Only one thread is really necessary. You aren't covering new ground here. |

I'm not hating on Mika, I'm just sick of people comparing him to Freddie, there is NO comparison! |

STOP POSTING MIKA TOPICS IN THE GENERAL DISCUSSION! I'm tired of reading about Mika, who himself doesn't like being noticed as being similar to Freddie Mercury, when I'm trying to read threads on Queen! And he really doesn't remind me of Freddie... he sings in a high pitched voice most of the time. Freddie doesn't! And it doesn't sound the same either. He doesn't look like Freddie either. |

My point is, we should welcome any sort of new discussion even if it's about how Mika or The Darkness or My Chemical Romance or anythin else reminds us of Queen. Becaues, lets face it, without Freddie, Queen isn't going to produce anything new and exciting. This mysterious new album will be nothing special without the voice of Freddie Mercury. So we should all move on and talk about artists with a sounds that reminds us of Queen. In 20 or 30 years Roger, Brian, and John are going to be dead and burried. Then what are we going to talk about on these websites? Reflect on the past but don't waste time trying to relive it. Move on and discuss new and promising talent. sometimes you hardcore Queenzoners are just too much to handle. So eliteist and unwelcoming. None of you seem to care about the music anymore. Its about who has the most bootlegs, who can come up with the best insults for Mika and Justin Hawkins, and who can put down a new members in Queenzone the hardest. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to listen to Queen and enjoy myself. |

I personally got to know about Mika a few days ago and so I got his album and was totally gripped by it. The only think of his that reminds me Freddie is his eyes and energy. His voice is more a competitor to Robbie Williams. Well, I do like Mika. His music makes me want to move so since when I have downloaded the album I have been listening to him from morning to evening. ;) |

I'll be honest, I like the guy, I've no real reason to hate him... my first thought though is that Grace Kelly is just too damn repetitive, but shit. It's making him money - so something must be working. But DAMN am I sick of hearing about it here! |

I like him, I don't hate him, I hate the fuzz of Qzone about him though... Ieva: I can't compare him with Robbie, I mean... maybe I adore Robbie so much that I can't find someone to compare him with. |
bitesthedust 09.04.2007 05:48 |
I've heard a couple of Mika's songs on radio/music tv, and I'm not fussed either way. For Mika's own career he would be best advised to steer clear of comparisons to Freddie (which apparently he is wanting to do anyway, based on his own comments). The situation is that whenever a new singer comes onto the scene and either sounds like Freddie Mercury or dresses like him (Justin Hawkins, for example), that artist is criticised by the holier than thou attitude of some people on this website. If you want an artist to look and sound completely different to Freddie - then look at Paul Rodgers. (And he sings Queen's songs, under the Queen banner too.) |

Mika is really Freddie and Mary Austin's long lost son who was kidnapped by sewer rats. Think about it. Well everything aside, I like him, even though I'm not much of a fan of pop music. I personally think James Blunt and Mika are MUCH better than Robbie Williams and I'm glad that they showed up in the scene to show Robbie that his days are (hopefully) numbered. |
