I have recently re-discovered his music after listening to his joint album with Susanna Hoffs (Under The Covers), and I just wanted to know if any of you were fans as well (or have even heard of him at all).
The first time I heard his music was in 1992 in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer (what can I say, I've always been a geek). Thinking of that, I feel old... Anyway, any other fans? I dare say if you listened to popular radio in the States at all in the early '90s, you've heard him.
He's one of those guys that I like when I hear him, but it never really registers enough that I remember his music. The only song I can remember, which I really do like, is Girlfriend.
Still, give me Glen Phillips or Toad.
I remember him from the 90s. Seemed like a Liz Phair type.. sorta passable as a performer but nothing special. LOL. Sorry ;)
And Toad The Wet Sprocket rules. I used to have such a crush on Glen. *sigh*
Liz Phair? You're such a dick. At least you didn't mention Baywatch. ;)
How're things?
As a side note, I too love Glen... In a manyly sort of way. As a matter of fact Zeni, I listened to the concert bootleg you sent me just the other day. What was that, two years ago? :/
Has it been that long? Actually, now that I think about it, it might be closer to 3 years. Dang, I'm getting old.
Have you found Glen's solo work? Winter Pays For Summer is excellent and my favorite by him.
I can safely say that I have not. I'm sure it's great, though.
I had NO idea that Toad toured last year! I would've loved to see them...
By the way, Zeni. You really should check out Under The Covers. It's a really great tribute to some great '60s rock. I especially like their version of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue. Great sounding stuff!
Never heard of that one, Dan. I'll have to track it down.
I missed the Toad tour because they, like most acts, came nowhere near me. Glen also tours regularly, usually in the smaller clubs, and does make his way to the east coast on occasion. Check out his website for tour dates and you might get lucky sometime. link
At one time, he was bringing up members of the audience to sing Walk on the Ocean with him.
