That's all I wanted to say. Reason: -Too many silly topics. ('When did Freddie die'?, Where is Freddie burned, I saw and heard Queen on television / radio yesterday in a commercial) please look at forums of other bands, Queen fans (not all of them of course) are pretty strange people... |

Queenzone has a bunch of little kids who don't even know what a 'single' is... and download their music off of limewire. It's pathetic people don't realize what the demo of Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow sounds like, as well as the demo of Living On My Own, and I'm talking about the pathetic youtube video with them mixed together. |

queenzone today is a bunch of people ALWAYS trying to be smart and fighting for the championship of "more smart and funny qzoner"... |

Or live in places where it’s hard to get music of that calibre. I mean most of this would come of the net nowadays, but say you don’t have the net? You might be going to your local library for net use to which you may not be able to download music ect ect. Iv been in to queen since I was three and have heaps of stuff. I even have the “Live Kills” single on vinyl, but no demos, so there is valid reason as to why true fans of that nature don’t have access nor have heard certain demos. So to dismiss it as being pathetic not to hear demos is probably in my mind not very diplomatic as we may not be as fortunate as some to gain access to this. |

I think QZ has changed because there is too much division so understandably people clash with others. I would elaborate but I can't help but get the feeling my oppinion isn't valued very highly on the QZ sharemarket (and that's no skin off my nose) |
Boy Thomas Raker 29.03.2007 08:52 |
Actually it's declined because there are too many people who know SFA about Queen or anything else and are all too happy to share their ignorance on this board. |
YourValentine 29.03.2007 09:01 |
@ prophet's song - could you elaborate? Richard has always wanted to create a space for all interests. The website still has a lot of merits and it's the users who must make the forums a place to enjoy. Unfortunately, the trolls and idiots are always the loudest and the reasonable posters get tired of discussing with them. Years ago it was impossible that a troll called a regular bad names and nobody interfered. Today, it's almost the rule. So, people should not be surprised if the regulars give up on the board when there is no loyalty from the community. |
buderhin 29.03.2007 09:05 |
We should use a Forum with PHPBB. The Queenzone Forum is in my Opinion a "anonymous" Forum. There are very much people here. We have no Post-Counters and so on. But yes, its strange here xD |

As a visitor of queenzone for 2years and 6 months i have seen changes on the board but isn't that expected?? people move on and then come back pretty normal in my book, i for one have come to respect a few guys on here. They are john stuart, serry, your valentine and queen archivist why??? because these guys now their stuff when it comes to queen and solo stuff, and the amount of time and dedication that they pursue with great detail must be applauded. Personally the questions i hate seeing is like for example "what if blah + blah blah seem to fill the board with nonsense, where as a question like queen2 + sheer heart attack rise or retreat gets opinions and thoughts really going. Just my opinion though and i think a bit of diplomacy is needed especially with the young ones with their questions as they are starting out getting into the band whereas others like myself have been followers for twenty years plus, and they need to be giving some respect which has been lacking some what of late. One more thing is there any chance we can have a sticky for you tube clips like they do on queenonline it would make all the clips more accessible> Cheers. |
YourValentine 29.03.2007 10:48 |
Queen related YouTube clips? |

But YV has identified the major difference between the QZ of old and the QZ of today. There are too many angry posters who throw around insults at the drop of a hat. This causes any intelligent person looking for a fun discussion to want to avoid QZ. The other day, in a seemingly quaint thread, one of our resident idiots called someone a "cunt" simply because they had different musical tastes. Years ago, users would not have tolerated this; today, a few spoke out only to be insulted themselves while the idiot continued posting. When QZ is full of angry people who throw out death threats or nasty names, which seem to be a larger proportion of teenagers than others, users leave. I, myself, visit QZ less than I used to. After all, who willingly visits a site where they might be called a "bitch, "cunt," "worthless," or "cesspool" just because their opinion differs from yours? |

I know it's not a popular solution but there should be many (10+) moderators who would keep this forum clean. Yeah, freedom of speech is nice but I'm sick of various teen / nonsense / irrelevant posts that QueenZone is full of. Useful information in this forum is buried under loads of bullshit. In some sense the QueenOnline forum is better. And I never thought I would ever say this... I'm not talking about censorship, I'm talking about deleting nonsense and/or offtopic posts and trying to avoid flame wars and personal attacks. [But nothing is black or white - thanks to QZ I'm slowly improving my knowledge of English :) Five years ago my English was shit, now it's only so-so and perhaps in five years I will be able to speak properly ;-] |

I always held high hopes that the trolls/idiots would be ignored by respectable members, the trolls/idiots would get bored with no reaction and leave. However the idiots/trolls now out number the respectable members that contribute to the board and it is littered.. At the current rate, if YV were to delete all the crap that gets posted on here now at a regular rate, it would be her full time job. Not that she does not do an excellent job of preserving this site, she can not do it alone anymore without keeping her sanity. This is my opinion Barb ;). She also can not make people behave and act appropriately. It is entirely up to you if you want to behave like a normal human being or not. QZ is also not YV's site and she is not a babysitter. This site belongs to Richard Orchard and he has entrusted her to be a care taker of sort. YV respects his wishes. I wish the people that are responsible for littering this site really knew the amount of personal time she devotes to this site for no personal gain. I wish these people also were able to comprehend the likes of Queen knowledge they could soak up up from Mr. Scully, P_G, Zeni, Pieter, Serry, YV, Sir GH, Jeroen, etc. Forgive me for leaving out other very important QZers. There are many more yet they are treated like piles of dog shit on here now. The lack of respect for these elder members does upset me very much. I was not aware that some of them are being called undesirable names..probably bc I refuse to read threads that have been started by what are in my opinion, trolls. If I did see it, I would definitely be there to support them. The issue on moderators is who here is qualified to identify someone or something as idiotic or troll-like behavior? Freedom of speech has always been a pride for QZ. A place where people could express different opinions and feelings with out the name calling or flat out idiotic shit being posted, for lack of a better term. However now if you've got a different opinion than someone else apparently, you are a cunt, bitch, communist, threated with death, etc. I don't know what the answer is and I've held hopes that the ones who litter the board would just go away quietly one day. It hasn't happened but I still hope. I haven't left yet nor will I ever leave QZ. I've visited this site almost daily for four years. I will always be here and I'll post when I feel like a thread is deservant of my time/attention. If a thread is moronic, ridiculous, irrelevant, or trollish, etc. I will not to post in it. I won't even read it. I keep mental notes of whose posts to read and whose not to read. This is where I agree with Scully and this is where my biggest issue has been since this influx of trolls began. The good stuff, what is left of it, is buried under all the bullshit. I am in no way against free speech and posting your individual thoughts and feelings. My definition of what is crap is probably a lot different than most bc I have very little patience for self-centered attention seekers than |

Now I'm not saying everyone should all hold hands and be best friends with everyone, I just think if people had a bit more tolerance for other posters different to them, who mabey don't know as much as them or who find different things interesting, then QZ would be a nicer place. People need to realise that no ammount of sarcastic and hurtful comments will stop other people from posting threads other people may find a waste of space. There will always be new Queen fans comming here who may genuinly not know how Freddie died or where John is, it's like when my mum used to take me for driving lessons, she assumed I knew everything about driving like her, and we ended up in a ditch. Just because I was sitting behind the wheel of a car didn't mean I knew all there is to know about driving, just like because people are members of QZ doesn't mean they know everything about Queen. A little more tolerance sent the way of those who don't know everything Queen-related or who hold different oppinions would be nice. And thus ends my two-cents worth. Sorry if I come across as a whinger, I don't mean to. (P.S - I assure you, the only thing painful about the car-in-ditch experiance was that it was painfully funny) |

Just one final remark - people whose mother tongue is English should be more careful about what they write. If (for example) a native American writes "through" instead of "threw" or "their" instead of "there", I can guarantee it looks pretty weird to us foreigners - actually it looks like he misses basic education. I don't mean anybody in particular; it's just that QueenZone is full of people whose writing skills are on the level of a 9 year old. |

name-calling is childish, escpecially for having a different opinion. ive said it before, and ill say it again, everyone is entitled to their opinion so long as there is no harm involved, and can be backed up (aka, a healthy debate). intellegence drops when names are called, in my opinion :). if there are constant offenders, i believe they should be removed immediatly. you are not a big man/woman to insult people because you feel bad about yourself, or feel strongly aobut something. if someone insults you, leave it be, dont react or react minimally, and theyll give up. if not, the moderators should do something about it. death threats are unessesary, and also childish. i dont feel the need to ellaborate on that. if it were possible, there should somehow be a spellcheck (for those without firefox and can catch their mistakes), which would be nice, but i dont expect it (i also speak for myself, since i am a rather crappity typer) also as dumb as it sounds, i think there should be some sort of emoticons, only because people use them so commonly in the forms they would on MSN or AIM, and in some cases, miss a joke that someone tells, and takes it the wrong way, and starts a fight. in my opinion, some of us have rather sarcastic humor, and some people dont get that, but we shouldnt feel the need to constantly explain ourselves. but i digress... and certainly a limit to each post on a thread a day, by different people *cough* innuendo1990 *cough* and if it gets out of hand, they should be kicked or be VERY limited to posting. if you have nothing to say, then dont say anything. if youre here to start a fight, just leave and stop wasting time. i think its fair. im probably forgetting a couple things but i have a feeling theyve been brought up anyway. |

I would not hold my breath waiting for new features on this board. Obviously Richard Orchard does work for a living, and has a very demanding job and has little to no time to work on improving the board. A "nonsense forum" was suggested a while ago. Why not use "Queen News" as a "nonsense forum", as there are few posts there anyway, and Queen News is eaily accessible on the front page anyway. Nobody is censored this way, and the board is partially cleaned up. The board would not need more moderaters per se, but would rather need many "sanitary engineers" to deliver the mess to the land fill. |
